My post above .... Oop wrong thread ... second time in a few days ... It should have been here: Sorry.by simonm - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
There is reporting from Gaza. Just the mainline media don't want to upset the Applecart. At the dentist this morning I flipped through Focus magazine (German magazine similar in style to Newsweek/Time) there were plenty of pictures. A photo of 5 children's corpses (3-5 year olds) killed by an Israeli bombing attach was one that caught my eye. Two photos made an contrast: an Israeli woman obby simonm - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
I've seen a "Medion Akoya" 12 inch recently. Pretty much the same footprint as the pb12" - immediately got to think about it as a hackintosh. However, I didn"t really pay attention to the tech specs so I don't know how easy or difficult it would be. I don't know if it is sold in the US and I have no idea who makes it. Medion's main claim to fame in Europe is as an "by simonm - Tips and Deals
There is a very nice comedy movie on this theme from 1998. Waking Ned Devine. Set in a small village somewhere in Ireland. The guy pops his clogs when he releases he has won the lottery. The villagers get together and try and get the money.by simonm - Tips and Deals
QuoteBlack Landlord My questions-- 1) Is that cord with that end a "universal" thing or am I going to have to pop for a whole new PS? I am not familiar with that power pack. However, there are two semi-universal cords. The one mentioned by olnacl which turns up in all sorts of small electronic entertainment products (incl some Dell power packs) and the the more "clover lby simonm - Tips and Deals
Apple has a lot of momentum at the moment. I would guess that a large proportion of iPhone users would scarcely recognise Steve Jobs' name let alone allow that to play a role in their buying decisions. The Steve Jobs focus is here and in the parts of the media. While there will no doubt be a drop in the price of shares when Steve goes it is part an parcel of the way the stock market works. I very much doubt if a solar powered car is possible in any kind of format beyond an ultra lightweight golf buggy designed to be used in a really sunny environment. Modern vehicles weight 1-2 tons. If you want to move that along at 60mph you need more energy that a few dozen square feet of panel can produce no matter how effieient those panels are. Solar power vehicles exist. They weigh maybeby simonm - Tips and Deals
Quotefreeradical I could be wrong, but I'd bet that CNN article contains about 7% or less of the information that's relevant to figuring out if AirTran acted properly. Well I suspect it is a bit more than 7%... But now at least we know the rules. If you look anything that might be construed a "furrner" then keep your mouth shut on AirTran flights. Anything granular sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide cleaning product will blast its way through almost anything. I don't know the brand names in the US. Just don't try sprinkling it on sweaty palms unless you want to be the new Padre Pio. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Padre_pio).by simonm - Tips and Deals
Two very recent macworld articles worth a brief look - fairly mediocre reviews as per macworld. They depend on advertising so I get the impression they are never very critical. Comparsion of 3 vms - no boot camp Virtual box reviewby simonm - Tips and Deals
Quotefreeradical ... According to the Israeli authorities, the coastal territory on the Dignity had been sailing since yesterday declared a "closed military zone." In addition, the ship's crew had refused to respond to radio calls. ... QuoteDoc What's interesting about the story is that the gun supposedly discharged after he cleaned it. So, there was a bullet in the chamber when he disassembled the gun, removed the slide and cleaned the receiver? No. What's more likely is that he finished cleaning it, chambered a round and then he either pointed it at the wall between them or directly at her. How drunk do you thinkby simonm - Tips and Deals

Quotekj ... Do you think a recorder might be good for celtic music? Celtic music goes really well with lots of beer! kj. Usually a "tin-whistle" or a regular concert or wooden flute is what is used in Celtic music. The recorder is more for Baroque? early classical? music. And for your next trick get one of these ) When they say that "Describing it as an oboe, however, can be misleading since it has a very powerful sound, ..." is an understatement. Everyone on the block will know when you are practicing. These things don't need an amplifier - a silencer would be more appropriate. Because the market has gone to sata you won't see much in the way of bargains on the 250gb ata disks. They are now in the "esoteric" area and not the mainstream consumer market. If you want capacity, buy a new drive with an enclosure. If you want to use your old firewire case - bite the bullet and get the 250gb now.by simonm - Tips and Deals
Not all 20lbs are equal. There is quite a difference between 20lbs for someone who is say 170lbs and someone who is 300lbs. Someone who is 300+ lbs can loose (and gain it back) 20lbs in a very short period of time. Getting rid of 20lbs permanently for someone who isn't grossly obese is a project for at least 3-4 months. Just changing one element will not cut it. It is a long term habitby simonm - Tips and Deals

What about putting all the US military in Guantanamo Bay on trial in Florida plus the CIA waterboarding crews? The US attorney there seems to have a different view to the Bush & Co. I am not a "pristine" kind of person. I've used laptops almost exclusively for 8 years and one and off before that. Reckon to get 3.5 good years from a laptop before it is ready for a decent burial. It will hit the ground a few times. "Normal" falls give you a fright and maybe a small dent or crack in the case but you pick it up and just keep working. Quotebillb When looking at the "BIG OIL" interests/angles, never forget how many cards China wants/needs to hold. Some else agreeing with you. Actually my view of the Middle East instability is that the USA needs it that way just to "humbug" the Chinese. Having a bunch of low-moderate level wars going on makes it more difficult for the Chinese to secure a foothold. Chby simonm - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
Hey guys... Look on the bright side. Yet another US secretary of state can spend years exxplaining the marvellous progress on the "peace process" in the middle East. Was Kissanger the first or was it Albright was first or someone else? Who knows there may even be a Nobel prize in it for someone. Then of course Israel will need to top up its supply of weapons. QuotePeterB Jax, yes, and with the added risk that you could have someone manufacture a WMD far more easily than they could with nuclear technology. Boston has a lot of international students, too... Quotespace-time have you got the RAM working? have you reset the PRAM? I have 2.5gb working. Resetting the PRAM had no effect. At some point my wife's account began to add the digits "8:41" to all time displays from midnight to noon. Between noon and midnight all is well. It actually uses this "time" on files as well so a file created at 13 mins past midnight gets a creation date of "00:138:41". I cured the clock in the menu by just changing the way it displays.
