Thanks for the info...I didn't know that this wasn't acceptable anymore. In the past I had seen people getting rid of old Apple stuff. I was a Systems Engineer for Apple in Austin, and they offered a limited edition at one of the Tech trainings. However, there was enough interest that they released a few to the general public. I think it was around $600, although today you could buy an iPby katkramer - Tips and Deals
Hello everyone! I've been off the forums for awhile, but wanted to let you know that I'm downsizing and have some interesting Apple stuff I will be getting rid of. Here's a link to my website where I'm putting things up: If you'd like to make an offer on anything, send me a message at kat (at) the domain above (katkramer). I'm still not impressed with the HTC phones. My friends who have them rant and rave, but when they're doing demos the graphics are chunky, not smooth...but they try so hard to show you how wonderful they are and how "elegant." I just haven't had that experience with them!by katkramer - Tips and Deals
Okay, more teenager drama...I'm going to kick his butt. Fiancee's 18-year-old son. He's "an adult" and responsible for his own actions, but while in my house I've made it clear that illegally downloading is unacceptable. Found out over Spring Break that the little monster has downloaded something called Tor for the Mac...or possibly Vidalia. I found something online that said Iby katkramer - Tips and Deals
My neighbor is having a problem, and her mortgage is through Bank of America. She's going through a divorce, and her ex didn't pay the mortgage for four months. She's trying to work with them, and they initially told her it would be no problem. Now they're rejecting her. I sent her the link above...by katkramer - Tips and Deals
It took me about 10 years to get up the courage to light my jeweler's "little torch" that's oxy-acetylene. By that time, the hoses were bad! I got it now...and haven't blow up the house...yet!by katkramer - Tips and Deals
Yeah, they have a new rule that passwords can't be used twice in the same year. It rejects the password! In the past, you could change the password back to the existing password if you got locked out. Now it's something completely different, and they're requiring a new one each time. One guy is having to change his twice a day to a unique password!by katkramer - Tips and Deals
It does if you're registering a new Apple ID. I'm not sure what happens when a new user gets a new computer. My suspicion is that it's happening with new users with new computers. It's been going on a long time, but people are coming out of the woodwork with similar problems.by katkramer - Tips and Deals
I HATE the new version of iMovie. I've been using it for years, and simply can't figure out the new version. Yes, it's pretty, but doesn't make a damned bit of sense to me!!by katkramer - Tips and Deals
Looking for others having this problem... I have a simple ".mac" address (kat@mac.com), and it has been causing me headaches for awhile. People getting new computers try to choose an Apple ID, and choose my kat@mac.com account, then try to reset the password when it doesn't work. It locks me out of my iTunes, App Store, e-mail, suppoby katkramer - Tips and Deals

Tire cover from the middle east...rainbow logo...signed by Woz! Dad almost put this on craigslist... This is considered a "family heirloom" in the Kramer family.by katkramer - Tips and Deals
The partnership between USPS and FedEx and UPS is the biggest scam. Take something that works perfectly and insert the most unreliable shipping entity...I've NEVER received anything in a timely manner from this type of shipping. Sure, it's usually cheaper, but it's not worth the savings. I'd happily pay the extra $3-5 to know WHEN my package will be delivered. I actually told a merchant thaby katkramer - Tips and Deals
I found a stray dog once that was pure white with black spots...he looked like "Clarus" so I named him Claris. Gosh, I miss that dog!by katkramer - Tips and Deals
I hate cable, and HATE Time Warner. Our bill that includes internet and cable TV is now over $150 a month. We had the stupid "Triple Play" to get a cheaper rate (base is $99 in Austin), but they forced us to have a phone line. Seems like not a problem, we just didn't hook up a phone, but then we had the stupid on-screen caller ID. When we told them we didn't want phone, they told usby katkramer - Tips and Deals
Oh, this is OLD and will not run on MacOS X. It's from about 1995 or so...so you'd need an old Mac, or just want it for nostalgia.by katkramer - Tips and Deals
I found an old version of QuickTime VR Authoring Studio in my garage when I cleaned it out the other night. It has the CD in the back of the book. Anyone want it? Pay shipping and it's yours!by katkramer - Tips and Deals

I have a dilemma...something that I find frustrating, but it may be none of my business. My fiancee has an 18-year-old son. Last year he admitted to drinking and driving. He's now off at college, finally living on his own for the first time in his life, and we recently took his car away for financial reasons, not for the multiple accidents and general neglect of things like inspection and maby katkramer - Tips and Deals
OMG...these are all great advice (on all levels) and lots of fun! The good news is that the Airport Admin utility works GREAT! His dad's computer is wired, but all of the rest in the house are wireless. On the utility there is a button to "allow" the computer your administrating on because it can read the MAC address...then I limited access from every other wireless device. Yeah, he's not getting any sleep, though, and he's at risk of not graduating from high school! Lately, he's had no idea what time he's finally gone to bed...he's exhausted, but it's like an addiction for him. I'll probably put the same limits on the network that we put on his phone...midnight for school nights, and 2:00 am on the weekends. I've already had to load OpenDNS to block him fromby katkramer - Tips and Deals
Okay, this one's complicated, but here goes. We're in Austin, Texas Fiancee was in bicycling accident...driver turned in front of him, and it's their fault. Four teenagers in the car...three boys, one girl. The DMV records show that the truck is registered to one of the guys in the truck...we'll call him "Bob". However, they claim that the girl was driving...we'll call her &quoby katkramer - Tips and Deals
Can anyone tell me if there's a way to set a schedule on an Airport Base Station to shut it off at night? After harassing the 17-year-old in our house who was abusing his phone privileges, he's now up online chatting on facebook. His dad's too lenient...and I'm a little more creative. Any creative solutions are appreciated!!by katkramer - Tips and Deals
Here in Austin, Texas, the officers don't assign fault anymore in most cases...that makes it a nightmare when trying to fight super-corrupt insurance companies!! Progressive SUCKS!by katkramer - Tips and Deals
I just posted a question about my fiancee's bicycle accident, and the Austin police department took down NO WITNESS information, although he was on the ground being attended to by EMS. We have since discovered a bias against cyclists...and we've got it on VIDEO. We started out with no witness information whatsoever. However, through a lot of phone calls and a little detective work, we now haby katkramer - Tips and Deals
Any agents out there? My fiancee was hit on his bicycle by a girl in a truck. It was entirely her fault...she didn't own the truck...it was owned by the brother of one of the passengers in the truck. In our state, the minimum insurance coverage is supposed to be "25/50/25", I think. My fiancee's medical bills will exceed the first number, which I believe covers bodily injuries fby katkramer - Tips and Deals
Okay, Twitter junkies... I'm NOT a twitter person, but I have a question. Fiancee's son has been abusing his iPhone and texting during school, so we put the AT&T SmartLimits for Wireless on his phone last night. It won't let him text or have incoming texts during school hours, although we've found out it doesn't block incoming calls. We just realized that he might be able to get anby katkramer - Tips and Deals

Hello all! New and exciting challenge here. We have a Time Capsule at the house for wireless, and I'm trying to block my fiancee's teenage son from BitTorrent. Since my name is on the cable bill, I don't want to be responsible in any way for him accessing that service. I saw on Apple's site that OpenDNS will allow you to block content, but can anyone give me a little more info on how it woby katkramer - Tips and Deals
