QuoteC(-)ris Quotedecocritter At this point with the volume of foreclosures, what is the point of forcing more people into foreclosure? Would not the banks be better off refinancing at better rates or extending the life of the loan for those that are showing good faith? QuoteArticle Accelerator QuotelemmingboyI recommend Word to the students. A lot of the professors are at the technology stage where they will accept files via e-mail, but those files must be a standard Word file whose formatting looks perfect, something you can only 100% achieve via the actual MS Word program. In terms of Word versus OpenOffice -- while I love and personally use OpenOffice I recommend Word to the students. I know you are getting the word about backups but it is worth emphasizing again. I am a college professor who for the last three years have ended up failing one or two students a semester for not being able to turn work in that they claimed was completed but lost because of computer error or loss. This also takes me back. Tom was my sound professor while I was at film school in USC. I always respected that although he was one of the people at USC who because of the prestige of his name, could do anything he wanted and what he wanted was to teach the intro sound course. Also it was Ben Burtt who created the laser blast noise. Here's a photo of Ben actually hitting the guide wire wby lemmingboy - Tips and Deals

Quotesilvarios I thought that eBay frowned on advertising installed software that is not legally licensed with the computer? Listing 10.5 anywhere in the auction is misleading, especially since 10.5 will now cost the poor sap another $100 to legally upgrade the OS. You should have wiped the drive and reinstalled the original OS or left the drive blank. Installing 10.5 serves no legitimate purposeby lemmingboy - Tips and Deals
I agree, the kid is a hero. I don't believe the situation would have been any different if a parent was there. For what it is worth, I value the knowledge I gained on my way to becoming an Eagle Scout much more than my high school, college and Master's degrees combined.by lemmingboy - Tips and Deals
When I had to take journalism law in college, the guiding principle was whether the subject of the photograph had a "reasonable expectation of privacy." The two cases always talked about was using a telephoto to shoot through a window. Yes, the photographer is in a public space taking a photo, but the person in their house has a reasonable expectation of privacy, even if they leaveby lemmingboy - Tips and Deals
What state are you in? When my kid was in daycare in Southern California we were told when we signed up that if our child bit another child more than once our child would be thrown out of the center. It was one of the things they really emphasized when we signed up and They presented this as if it was a rule from the state or their licensing or accreditation agency. Jacob's Ladder is a great movie, but one that I never appreciated until I was an adult and had some clue what post-traumatic stress syndrome and the Vietnam War was. As a kid watching it, it seemed too long -- as an adult I think it's fantastic. My picks, for what it's worth: The Exorcist and the Shining are classics and still scare me today even having seen them many many times. The two lby lemmingboy - Tips and Deals
Was the RT render indicator green in the previous setup? How full are your drives?by lemmingboy - Tips and Deals
I've had his problem often. It is most likely the fact that your project, scratch disk, and media drive are all the same hard drive. You'll do better if the project is on your main drive, the media os on another drive and you render to a third drive. Of course, try to keep as few sequences open as possible, and in those open sequences keep the number of video and audio tracks to a minimum.by lemmingboy - Tips and Deals
Quoteneophyte I thought they had been decommissioned? They seem so capable at their task. My father was load crew chief for the A-10 National Guard unit in Maryland. The A-10 was decommissioned, to the point that they began transferring the planes to Korea and he began training to loading the F-16s that were supposed to replace them. Then when they actually started trying to use the F-16 inby lemmingboy - Tips and Deals

If it's not available for Xmas rush, then not until Spring at earliest. Little reason to bring out upgrade in early part of year as it won't affect sales too much. With that being said, if we don't hear about a special event in the next few weeks, it probably won't happen this year. You probably know this, but firewire 800 can have Firewire 400 drives plugged into them, you just need an adaptor (9 pin to 6 pin I think . . .) I prefer just using cables that have one connector on one end and another on a different end. On the other hand you may need more than an adaptor for your VGA monitor to work with the Mini's out. I believe the only two dangerous spiders in North America are the black widow (black with red hourglass on abdomen) and the brown recluse (brown with black fiddle shape marking on abdomen). The only other one is the tarantula (big, hairy, you'll know it when you see it), which is not really dangerous per se, but the bite can hurt like a bee sting and some are allergic to the venom.by lemmingboy - Tips and Deals
Not to be the stick in the mud, but if you have kids under 12, please be extra super cautious using a fryer. I had a friend who's kid was really badly hurt because they wanted to help Mommy cook. I've been on the marrow donation registry for years and have never been called. From what I understand, for actual marrow donation, the biggest risk comes more from the anesthesia than the actual procedure. Also when they say there is pain for the donor, I've been told it's more along the lines of the soreness you'll feel if you workout way past your limits and not very bad at all. I asked the same question to the car-seat panel at a baby-show in L.A. a few years ago. What they said is there is NO difference in safety between a properly installed latch car-seat and a properly installed belt car seat. They also said that the rear center is by far the safest place to put a car seat. With that being said, the center is the way to go. The key really is properly instalby lemmingboy - Tips and Deals
I've been there a few times. Their prices are pretty high, but they carry many items that are otherwise mail order. I think they make most of their money off the video pros in the area who at times need something quick more than they need it cheap. I've heard mixed reviews about their service. Again the price seems high to me, but not ridiculously so. The only real upside is that theyby lemmingboy - Tips and Deals
What I think is at play here is the fact that Apple eventually got their phone back, in a more or less undamaged state. All of the statutes people are quoting deal with the return of the property, which Apple did get back.
