Okay, I've completely disabled all my security set ups and the MBP was able to get into the network and be seen by the other computers. I then reset router and network name and have applied a new password. The MBP has successfully negotiated those and is maintaining the network connection. So I've got my MBP back. Apple replaced the logic board (part 661-4955) at no cost. They gave me a receipt showing that the repair would have cost $1322.50. Brought the MBP to the Apple store yesterday. Explained the symptoms to a genius. Also told her of Smack's experience. She seemed aware of the logic board problems, but when she talked to her manager she said she would have to perform a test before they could reach that conclusion. rgG - holding down the trackpad button doesn't kick it out - I guess it's tied into the keyboard's unresponsiveness. I will try the double sided tape, though. Thank you.

Does anyone have any idea on how I can get the stupid thing (yeah, I'm tired) to eject the dvd? I've never looked for a force eject hole/button on a laptop dvd player before. It's irritating hearing that thing spin up every time now without reward. Thanks.

Shut it down at 11:30, brought it upstairs and attempted to boot about an hour later and nothing. No chime - black screen. The fan runs slow and steady, the 'sleep light' is constant 'on' - not the sleep pulse, the keyboard is unresponsive (caps lock/num lock don't light up and the backlighting of the keys is not on). It was odd. I tried the suggestion that mstudio had - started up disk utilities. The drive made a sound as if it were accepting a disk (when no disk was present). I then pushed a disk in and the computer spun it up and read it. Ejected the disk and tried my luck for a second time a no go. Back to it's old ways. Even with a restart it won't read the disks with disk utilities open. It's re

I thought you were allowed as many installs as you like, just that you were limited in the number of activations you were allowed? Does anyone know if there is still a limit on the number of times you can activate/deactivate? I think I remember someone from here capping that out at 20 or something. No?

Adobe CS4 on two drives - same computer... - 15 years ago

I'm about to load CS4 onto my g5 tower. Within the tower I have two separate drives, one with osx 10.4 and one with osx 10.5. Do I need to load CS4 on both drives so that it runs correctly when booted in either system? Or will one install load everything in the correct places for boot up in either system? Not sure I said that correctly, hopefully someone here will understand. Thanks!

Add to this that the Woz is now on the board of Axiotron, the makers of the "modbook" and it becomes a little fun. This site takes a GIANT leap and ponders if Apple and Axiotron may be working together (doubtful I must say, but like I said - it's fun to guess).

Also mentioned in the cbs story, the family filed for bankruptcy 18 months ago AND abandoned a house that they now longer wanted to (or could?) pay for. The six other kids range in age from 2 to 7 years. Oh, and the mother lives with her parents. Yeah, looks like the government will be paying for these kids also.
