Okay, I've completely disabled all my security set ups and the MBP was able to get into the network and be seen by the other computers. I then reset router and network name and have applied a new password. The MBP has successfully negotiated those and is maintaining the network connection. I will wait a day to see if it can keep this up before intensifying security (I have a neighbor that seemby Glued - Tips and Deals
So I've got my MBP back. Apple replaced the logic board (part 661-4955) at no cost. They gave me a receipt showing that the repair would have cost $1322.50. The Apple person (genius?) was very nice (Nicole). The computer boots and everything seems fine BUTTTTT... The computer will no longer play with my network. It's self assigning an IP address of 169.254.xxx.xxx which obviously is not aby Glued - Tips and Deals
I'm posting a follow up as a new post.by Glued - Tips and Deals
Brought the MBP to the Apple store yesterday. Explained the symptoms to a genius. Also told her of Smack's experience. She seemed aware of the logic board problems, but when she talked to her manager she said she would have to perform a test before they could reach that conclusion. She hooked up a USB testing device to one of the MBP's ports. I re-explained that one of the symptoms was thatby Glued - Tips and Deals
DDR & deckeda - tried, no luck. smacks - thank you. I have made my appointment for tomorrow morning. I would like to get that dvd out of the machine, though. Will they be able to get the disc out there and give it to me prior to sending it off? It would save me about 7 hours of work. Also, does the issue have a specific name that they'll be looking for or will the description of the sby Glued - Tips and Deals
rgG - holding down the trackpad button doesn't kick it out - I guess it's tied into the keyboard's unresponsiveness. I will try the double sided tape, though. Thank you.by Glued - Tips and Deals
Does anyone have any idea on how I can get the stupid thing (yeah, I'm tired) to eject the dvd? I've never looked for a force eject hole/button on a laptop dvd player before. It's irritating hearing that thing spin up every time now without reward. Thanks.by Glued - Tips and Deals
Sorry for the delay, it was 5 a.m. when I first posted and I just had to close my eyes for a little bit. DRR: Yes the battery charges. Yes it is currently fully charged (five green lights). I did let it fully discharge earlier this morning to see if that would cure anything. modelamac: Tried to boot from the external - no go. There is no chime at startup. Also, I don't even know if thby Glued - Tips and Deals
Shut it down at 11:30, brought it upstairs and attempted to boot about an hour later and nothing. No chime - black screen. The fan runs slow and steady, the 'sleep light' is constant 'on' - not the sleep pulse, the keyboard is unresponsive (caps lock/num lock don't light up and the backlighting of the keys is not on). I have tried zapping the PRAM. Also tried pressing (and holding for 5 secby Glued - Tips and Deals

Seneca Niagara Hotel & Casino runs about $145 per night. Days Inn at the Falls (Main Street, not the Buffalo Ave location) has you down by the falls. West facing rooms have a view of the falls area. Also around $145. There a bunch of others down by the Falls.by Glued - Tips and Deals

It was odd. I tried the suggestion that mstudio had - started up disk utilities. The drive made a sound as if it were accepting a disk (when no disk was present). I then pushed a disk in and the computer spun it up and read it. Ejected the disk and tried my luck for a second time a no go. Back to it's old ways. Even with a restart it won't read the disks with disk utilities open. It's reby Glued - Tips and Deals
I purchased the laptop in March of '08. It never was able to burn DVDs, but it didn't really bother me - I just transferred files via my wireless network or firewire externals to my 'main' computer. But now that I've been using it more often lately, I've noticed that the optical drive won't recognize any 'burned' disc. Purchased discs such as Leopard or CS4 spin up and load fine, but any of myby Glued - Tips and Deals
I thought you were allowed as many installs as you like, just that you were limited in the number of activations you were allowed? Does anyone know if there is still a limit on the number of times you can activate/deactivate? I think I remember someone from here capping that out at 20 or something. No?by Glued - Tips and Deals
I'm about to load CS4 onto my g5 tower. Within the tower I have two separate drives, one with osx 10.4 and one with osx 10.5. Do I need to load CS4 on both drives so that it runs correctly when booted in either system? Or will one install load everything in the correct places for boot up in either system? Not sure I said that correctly, hopefully someone here will understand. Thanks!by Glued - Tips and Deals

Add to this that the Woz is now on the board of Axiotron, the makers of the "modbook" and it becomes a little fun. This site takes a GIANT leap and ponders if Apple and Axiotron may be working together (doubtful I must say, but like I said - it's fun to guess).by Glued - Tips and Deals
From Gizmodo, Apple filed for a patent titled "Display Housing for Computing Device", which covers their current portable displays. Apple describes a tablet display, with the display housing the computer device. The link includes a 'guessed' image of what the new device might look like.by Glued - Tips and Deals
I think that you'd find that most guys would argue that their own "mini me" was THE ultimate (not-at-all-)mini. In fact, GIGUNDOUS comes to mind when I think of my ...er... NOT mini. Add to the cost that any child born under the birth weight of 2 pounds, ten ounces is eligible for immediate social security payments. Nice little pay day there (around $4800 a month).by Glued - Tips and Deals
Also mentioned in the cbs story, the family filed for bankruptcy 18 months ago AND abandoned a house that they now longer wanted to (or could?) pay for. The six other kids range in age from 2 to 7 years. Oh, and the mother lives with her parents. Yeah, looks like the government will be paying for these kids also. Quoteraz What's the over/under on idiots trying to walk to Canada? A woman (British national, if I remember correctly) was busted over the weekend crossing the ice bridge into the U.S. She was denied entry when she tried to cross over the Rainbow Bridge (Niagara Falls) so she went back to Canada, snuck down the gorge and crossed over the Niagara River just beyond the falls (near the "Maidby Glued - Tips and Deals
Thank you everyone. Still adjusting to the glasses, but it's getting better. I'm definitely ordering a dedicated single script for computer work though. Did not get to sleep in.
