QuoteGrateful11 QuoteNewtonMP2100 .....Violent Night..... I gotta check that one out, it free on Prime. I just finished watching it. It has about as much violence as Die Hard. It may become a yearly watch (as long as it's free somewhere).by Michael - Tips and Deals
I have all the bills that have to be paid in Fidelity billpay. I've set up the credit cards so that a set amount will be paid each month several days before the due date that would be larger than the minimum payment. When the bill comes I change the amount to be paid to the actual due amount. If, by chance, a credit card wasn't used in a month, I tell it to skip the payment. This way I'll never mby Michael - Tips and Deals
We normally do it the day after Thanksgiving but with various visits coming up this year we did it earlier. I hauled out the Costco tree and the boxes upstairs and put the ornaments up high. Other than that my wife did most of the rest. I'd be happy with a minimal amount of stuff. She used to do every nook and cranny but now we have far less than we used to. But we do seem to buy some new stuff eby Michael - Tips and Deals
Thanks. I found "Season 1 Boxset The Repair Shop" on Youtube that seems to have all of the first season. I'm really enjoying it and I'll look forward to future seasons.by Michael - Tips and Deals
Honest to God, I hope they win a huge award. I don't know how American can really guard against this kind of apparent perversion but they need to figure it out.by Michael - Tips and Deals
Good news about passports. Global Entry is still apparently difficult to get. The gov'ment is saying up to 11 months. Our kid, spouse and 2 children travelled 4 hours yesterday for an interview appointment this morning in Memphis. The 2 adults already have Global Entry and they're traveling internationally next summer so they decided to get it for the 2 year old and 5 year old. It took 5 minuby Michael - Tips and Deals
QuoteSTL My favorite way is to let Costco roast it and me buy it. We got one a couple of days ago and made chicken chili with it. It was great!by Michael - Tips and Deals
Quotebfd Quotedavester Hmm. The tuition bill for my first term (quarter) at University of California Berkeley was $212.50. Not too far above the Harvard amount considering the number of years that had passed. And that was up from $168 for the same quarter in 1974… quite a jump considering the times were still changing. Oil prices changed everything after that, but you could still buy a new hoby Michael - Tips and Deals
Quoteraz We inherited a few Le Crueset pieces from my great aunt around the time when she could no longer lift them. We've since acquired a few more. When we can no longer lift them, they'll go to the kids. They last forever. And a joy to cook with. My brother gave us a Le Crueset dutch oven a couple of years ago. We've been getting more along the way. We really like them, as well. Ifby Michael - Tips and Deals
QuoteCarnos Jax QuoteOmbligo …..it is too short to handle full length items…. Keep in mind something like 90% of pick up trucks sold today have a short bed. This is what the majority of buyers want, and so that’s what Tesla is aiming for. Yep. I'm somebody who wants a long bed because we carry 10' kayaks and they just drop in and lean against the tailgate without any sort of tie down wiby Michael - Tips and Deals
SanDisk problems have been discussed on the forum a couple of times recently. Here's a particular view of SanDisk Extreme SSDs: The last time it was discussed, Costco was having a deal on the SanDisk and also a Samsung T7 SSD. Folks on the forum suggested the Samsung was fine. I bought 2 and they're just fine.by Michael - Tips and Deals
The last time I ate an "Eat all you can" was probably 20 years ago. Because I would eat all I could. In those years the only time we went to one of those buffet places was when my (anorexic!) MIL wanted to go. So, we'd go, she'd eat almost nothing, the others would eat normally and I'd try mightily not to get my money's worth.by Michael - Tips and Deals
QuoteAcer Y'all so gloomy. If you think old people vote now, it will pale in comparison to their level of political participation after the first cut appears in the SS check. That is so true. The politicians will "fix" SS/Medicare (but who knows about Medicaid...) at the last minute. Their personal survival will trump everything else. And us old geezers will absolutely vote them out oby Michael - Tips and Deals
We took ours right at full retirement age for me and a year before full retirement age for my wife. We did it because we are gradually converting our IRA's to Roth IRA's and using the SS money to pay the taxes on the conversion. That was worth taking it earlier than the 70 year old age that is often suggested. There are other scenarios that also make the typical advice to take it at 70 less reby Michael - Tips and Deals
Quotejdc I predict they wont be able to tell the diff between a $400 and $1200 TV. I can see the difference between the LED and OLED LG tv's when I look back and forth. And I'd bet most of us can. But, when I just walk up and look at the $400 LG LED it looks great. So we just bought a couple from Costco recently. No regrets.by Michael - Tips and Deals
They're good. Somebody got a better deal with the S Korean ones so they bought a boat load. That's why you found a deal on a box of them.by Michael - Tips and Deals
It's getting harder to justify it. But we like most of the parts so I guess I'll keep paying. And paying. And paying.by Michael - Tips and Deals
QuoteGareth QuoteRAMd®d If the 4pk was recently purchased, that would be an unusually short battery life, and you should have received a low battery notification. Yup, so far, mine seem to be living up to the 12 month battery life as they are all starting to give me low battery notifications. I bought mine in June 2022. I just replaced the first battery yesterday on one that's carried aroundby Michael - Tips and Deals
I have a Canon PowerShot SX40 HS that has the equivalent of a 840mm zoom. I got it for about $200 from Target when they replaced it with the next one--SX50, perhaps? It's been a great camera but I've wanted to get something smaller with an equivalent zoom. But, I just don't want to pay the $500 that it will likely cost.by Michael - Tips and Deals
Duolingo just started a math course (for free if you want to put up with the ads!). I'd bet they'll have diameter/circumference module somewhere along the way.by Michael - Tips and Deals
He doesn't have any core beliefs (except whatever benefits him). He came out as pro-life to get the nomination. Back in 1999 he said he was, "...pro-choice in every respect." He's just reflecting the change in Republicans where most are now pro-choice to some degree. I think that a lot of politicians do exactly the same thing.by Michael - 'Friendly' Political Ranting

We've got one. It'll be interesting to see what the settlement will be. I'd be happy if they extended the warranty to 10 years for that particular problem.by Michael - Tips and Deals
Quotemacphanatic Batteries don't last the way they used to. Honda batteries in new cars are notorious for dying at the 3-3.5 year mark. Yep. A friend's 2019 CRV just didn't start one day a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately he figured it was a bigger problem because all sorts of lights went on when he jumped it. So he took it to Honda and they happily replaced the battery for lots of cash. I'mby Michael - Tips and Deals
My brother bought a Frame TV last week from Amazon and it was selling today for $150 less from a different seller. He chatted about getting the price difference and the bot said no, but kicked him up to a person. They said no but kicked him up again. When all was said and done he chatted with 5 people who all said no. The last one he asked to help arrange a return of the first Frame TV with a picby Michael - Tips and Deals
Quotespacescape I'm looking for a TV for our basement. Probably 50" would work perfect for the space and really want ROKU built in to keep it simple for my family when they are down there. Not overly worried about modern gaming but on occasion my gammer kid will probably have friends over and move his Xbox to the basement. I do want to hook up vintage consoles on occasion. Home Depot's special buy for today only includes a 3 pack of Ryobi High Performance batteries and charger for $110. They're 2, 4 and 6 Ah batteries. I bought a set last year and I've been happy with it. They also have a set with one 2 and two 4 Ah High Performance batteries and a dual charger for $120.by Michael - Tips and Deals
