thanx for the sage advise, all! i took datbeme's counsel and rented a car at o'hare. given the extra flexibility, that seems to make the most sense. gee, fees and taxes only added another 40% ! such is life in (or escape to) the big city. happy new year, y'all!by goodmanx - Tips and Deals

i've got a line a nice volvo in orland park. i live way out of state so i need a reliable service to conduct a thorough inspection. i'll appreciate any recommendations of local or national services. also, if you've worked with lemon squad, andujar, pomcar or other national services, i'd appreciate your sharing your experiences and recommendations to me. tia!by goodmanx - Tips and Deals
i've enjoyed having a weather app called “meteorologist” in my menu bar. installing an upgrade today, I stupidly chose to delete preferences. well, duh, there went all the cities i had entered into the app over the past several years! the prefs are still in my trash. there is a folder “com.heat.meteorologist” with three cache.db files, a separate com.heat.meteorologist.plist file, sixby goodmanx - Tips and Deals
it's been over a year since i posted this without receiving any response. maybe the contactsphere has changed since then . . . for years i've used daily a spiffy little 32 bit preference pane called "tapdex" for almost instant access to my contacts' information; the original publisher was yellowmug.com in palo alto and they discontinued it years ago (but they do have three cool and uby goodmanx - Tips and Deals
we just got at&t fiber optic service, with which we’re VERY pleased;$70/mo, including their bgw320 modem/router, for gigabit service. we can connect our 4th gen apple tv by ethernet, but it limits us to 100 Mbps download speed. we regularly get 250-400+ Mbps on the atv with wifi. prior comcast wifi (170-ish Mbps down) generally provided dependable service, but we occasionally had some buby goodmanx - Tips and Deals
we just had at&t fiber optic installed today. so far, we’re very pleased with the wifi performance—up to about 660 Mbs down and over 300 Mbs up for about $70/mo, including the router and without a contract (i understand this can cut both ways). way better than comcast’s 180/12 for about $97/mo. however, when i connect via my unitek y-3461 gigabit usb to ethernet adaptor (ax88179 drivby goodmanx - Tips and Deals

hi! we found a car that appears to be just what we want for the right price in mission viejo. we’re a thousand or so miles away, so a personal test drive and inspection will be challenging. the googles aren’t helpful. we’d appreciate any recommendations on an outfit that does such work. almost any service in the general area will do. tia!by goodmanx - Tips and Deals
car is way below market and has been on the market for 8 months. i'm a tad skeptical. i'd rather not wait to hear back from the dealer.by goodmanx - Tips and Deals

when i opened jpk's b&h link above, i got a pop-up (or something like that) from overstock telling me i could save $249.57 plus 2% cash back ($28.56) and get the m1/16gb/1tb for $1,399.43; that's about $50 more than adorama's discounted 8/516. when i clicked on the overstock link, the m1's price was $1,464.99, not the $1427.99 shown, but it still looks like a significant savings. ymmv.by goodmanx - Tips and Deals
