Quotevision63 Now I have to examine what I'll be giving up. Have you figured out what you'll be giving up?by M A V I C - Tips and Deals
Ugh, Ars reporting has really gone downhill. They say "After initially threatening to shut down free GSuite accounts if users didn't start paying for the service, Google has completely backed off." But then go on to explain the details: "For individuals and families using your account for non-commercial purposes, you can continue using the G Suite legacy free edition and opt outby M A V I C - Tips and Deals
Two issues I've seen with this: 1. People have been held liable for criminal activity conducted via their internet connection 2. The bandwidth gets saturated pretty quickly and, unless you are able to throttle it, there's nothing left for you For a while a non-profit I help out with had an open wifi network. They needed it to be open, but a neighbor was leeching heavily. The router wasn't veby M A V I C - Tips and Deals
QuoteFilliam H. Muffman My choice would be between: - $208 - MICHELIN PILOT SPORT ALL SEASON 4 - $188 - CONTINENTAL EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 PLUS Similar price at Tire Rack, the Continental has a slightly better snow rating, but neither are a M+S tire. Those were the finalists for my car. Local enthusiasts pushed me to the Contis. Don't buy a tire based on brand. Eg, Michelin has some greby M A V I C - Tips and Deals
Quoted4 Can I interest anyone in 35 acres of flat land with Power, Internet, Water Well, Road Frontage & Mountain Views in Colorado? $44,997 That is intriguing.by M A V I C - Tips and Deals
QuoteFilliam H. Muffman QuoteM A V I C I would have thought it would be warmer. This is a large part of why Seattle has higher average temps than San Francisco in the Summer. They usually get June Gloom at different times. I knew about SF, but it seems like Monterey is worse and for more of the year?by M A V I C - Tips and Deals
Quotechopper Monterey. We had friends that lived there and we visited them. They talked about how cold and foggy it often was. I would have thought it would be warmer.by M A V I C - Tips and Deals
davester, thanks. Guess I should have driven farther south. Sounds nice.by M A V I C - Tips and Deals
Quotejdc We have thought the same, but I think this needs to be worded in such a way that affordability is a factor. In carmel by the sea, a 2 bed/2 bath nowhere near the sea is $2M. Of course, we arent really moving for at least 10 years, when the wife is set to retire. I can work from anywhere... so meh. We really don't like the cold, and prob no humidity, so here in Nor Cal is prettyby M A V I C - Tips and Deals
QuoteYoyodyne ArtWorks Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Once you’ve been there the reasons are self-evident. Is there much difference between that and Pescadero Point?by M A V I C - Tips and Deals
I'm coming up on having lived in the same house for 20 years. As the kids get older (though they'll still be in the house for the next 10+ years), I keep wanting to live somewhere else. There's a lot of things I like where I live now. - Close access to nice park - Close access to freeways to get out of the city - Within walking distance of many things like a grocery store, restaurants and suchby M A V I C - Tips and Deals
QuoteRAMd®d My guess is because getting t-boned is what those drivers are possibly worried about. Not a chance. Cars are making a left turn, opposing traffic is stopped at their light. They aren't going anywhere. They're just slow to wake up. Like I said, it's the ripple effect. I use my horn when this happens. I care about the people behind me, so I try to make sure as manyby M A V I C - Tips and Deals
I find a lot of people don't realize they only need to enter an intersection before the light turns red. I'm sure that might vary by state. Yesterday I was behind someone who was braking before the light even turned yellow.by M A V I C - Tips and Deals
I did this for quite a few years, and then my hosting provider blocked it. The issue was that when something would be reported as spam to Gmail, they would penalize the host who was simply redirecting the email, not originating it.by M A V I C - Tips and Deals
QuoteADent Luckily my old company continued health care until the end of the month. My understanding is your current plan goes through the end of the month regardless. Eg, if you're laid off on March 31st, your insurance expires on April 1. But if you are laid off on March 1, your insurance still expires April 1.by M A V I C - Tips and Deals
Sorry to hear. As has been mentioned, there's generally no guarantee of a severance package, but it varies by state. I have heard of some times for some companies in some situations, they are required to. As far as the non-disparagement clause, that's pretty common. If they're offering to pay for COBRA for a period of time, take it. Glad to hear you are expecting an offer!by M A V I C - Tips and Deals
QuotergG Man, my butt hurts just reading this thread. You need better car seats! I've done 800+ mile days without any discomfort. I had a Subaru where I really couldn't last more than a couple hours in the passenger seat. Same with Hondas and Toyotas.by M A V I C - Tips and Deals
Quotemattkime QuoteM A V I C Quotemattkime Madison, WI to Asheville, NC. Overall better than flying once cost is factored in but I need some recovery time whereas my kids are bouncing off the walls at double volume. How old are your kids? Quotefreeradical QuoteM A V I C I'm not talking about the purchase price. I've run my taxes though it and had an account do it. Accountant charged me $1k, but they saved me 10x that over TurboTax. This is true if you have a complicated tax situation. However, for people who "work for the man", and all of their tax data is on 1099's that the IRS already has, they will save no moneby M A V I C - Tips and Deals

That's sad to hear. I really appreciated his work. When you have a few Mac upgrade options like RAM, hard drive, or buy a new machine to get a new CPU, knowing what will perform better for the tools many of us use was vital. I once received a manufacturing sample of one of the first SSDs from a major manufacture. I loaned it to him to test.by M A V I C - Tips and Deals
I've walked along highways a few times just because I'm used to anything that's within a mile or so being walking distance. Admittedly, I forget that many suburban areas in this country don't have sidewalks. I was staying at a hotel on a business trip and ended up walking a highway to get to food. I didn't have a car and had taken a ride share from the airport to the hotel.by M A V I C - Tips and Deals

And then last night I finally get the email about this. :/ I'll probably pay the $6/mo. The more advanced spam filtering in Gmail is worth it. I have other web hosts I use for email on custom domains, but I'd rather have Google prevent the spam. Plus I feel like reporting spam to them actually does something.by M A V I C - Tips and Deals
Thanks all. We primarily want to know if someone has entered our house that shouldn't have, especially at night. External cameras and such are largely pointless in my situation. While I know a lot of crimes are those of opportunity (eg unlocked doors), we are pretty good about that. If someone breaks in the door, I want to know. I don't care about monitoring. I have not paid attention to this side of tech at all. Recent events have me wanting some motion sensors.
