Quotetronnei QuoteAcer FYI, ebay sellers sell coils of 100 at substantial discount. I don't know how, but they do it a lot so there is some legit angle. Nope, not legit. 100% Chinese counterfeits. Yep, same thing with all the "deals" on Facebook.by Catzilla - Tips and Deals
I'm on Monterey on the Mac Pro 4,1-5,1. Seems fine so far. I used this guide: . I have been trying to upgrade my Xserve 3,1 and it hasn't worked. Both machines have upgraded processors and un flashed GPUs.by Catzilla - Tips and Deals

I was torn about the upcoming M1 16s, but it will take awhile for them to make their way to the refurb store. I can't remember the last "new" Mac I bought, open box, leftover, or refurb for me.by Catzilla - Tips and Deals

QuoteS. Pupp There’s a demand for them amongst those who still use OS9, PPC OSX, or are just getting into retro computing. There’s a wealth of great software available for cheap, or even for nothing. Check out MacOS9Lives.com and 68kmla.com (Mac Liberation Army - they have a PPC section, not just 68000) for an idea of just how loved these items are. eBay or Goodwill, if you have to, butby Catzilla - Tips and Deals
Macrumors has an active PPC forum, I'm sure someone will take them off your hands. I have an iMac G4 and a PM G3 tower setup for some OS 9 and early OS X nostalgia.by Catzilla - Tips and Deals
QuoteMrNoBody That's a 5,1. 4,1 uses delidded CPUs. Actually, that is a 4,1 that got lidded Xeons. Requires some #8/4mm brass washers, two narrow strips of 3mm thermal pad, & a little common sense when screwing down the sinks. 5,1 Dually has CPU locking frames. I did not know that about the 5,1. I have a 4,1 that I upgraded to 5680's that I bought delidded because I didn't want to meby Catzilla - Tips and Deals
QuoteRacer X Are those pics a 4.1 and 5.1? My 3.1 is a completely different beast. 2 RAM boards separate from the CPUs for instance. Just asking. That's a 5,1. 4,1 uses delidded CPUs.by Catzilla - Tips and Deals
FWIT, HP bought Samsung's printer business. I bought a couple on closeout at Staples, a color laser and a B&W MF. Meh, I would stick with Brother, which have been great with generic toner.by Catzilla - Tips and Deals
QuoteSarcany QuoteCatzilla I got the " No packages were eligible for install. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance" error trying to install HS on a 2009 Mini, after googling that phrase and following the steps I gave up and loaded Yosemite. I think the trick is to reset the system clock via terminal to sometime in 2016. Shouldn't have that problem on a fresh download fromby Catzilla - Tips and Deals

Quotespace-time is this the consumer grade or the Pro grade? "N" is the cheaper of the two, so I guess that would make it the consumer grade.by Catzilla - Tips and Deals
I bought an 480GB Aura N in August, it died a couple of weeks later. Unfortunately you have to pay return shipping and wait for a replacement, which has been fine.by Catzilla - Tips and Deals
QuoteRolando Why not put the Powerbook in Target Disk Mode and connect by Firewire? The Wallstreet doesn't have Firewire or even USB for that matter. I remember using a USB Cardbus card and needing to disable "processor cycling". I think I had a Cardbus Firewire card too at some point. Ahhh, the good old days...by Catzilla - Tips and Deals

Quoteanonymouse1 Good firmware upgrade to let it run Mojave is pretty easy, too. I’ll post a link later. Thanks, 1st thing I did was upgrade to a 5,1. I added an RX560 which works great on Mojave.by Catzilla - Tips and Deals
I'm late to the "Pro" Mac scene as of late, my last pro was a MDD. I picked up a 4,1 at Goodwill a few months ago. I initially added some drives, later a video card, and tonight added a BluRay drive I had hanging around. What an amazing user friendly device. All I needed was a phillips head! If it didn't require de-lidded CPUs I would have done that too. Next project is a battery repby Catzilla - Tips and Deals

Running out of warm and light in the northeast, really starting to cramp my daily rides. I have been sneaking out of work a little early to get my ride in before dark, But that's ok, I do work stuff most every night. QuoteJoeH QuoteCatzilla That's not entirely accurate. Utilities do monitor leaks and patrol mains, service lines, and meters on a regular basis. They also have a projected schedule to replace cast iron. Yeah, sure they do. That is not the issue, but their failure to follow up and tendency to rate leaks as being less in need of repair than actually called for is the problem. In many cases thby Catzilla - Tips and Deals
