I'm on my third pair of the Saucony Guide series shoes. Not in the price range you're looking for, but they are extremely comfortable and I can get 150+ miles before the treads wear down too far. I run 9-12 miles a week mostly on asphalt.

I've had friends recommend focusing on one or two parks, since it is nearly impossible to see everything unless you are staying a long time. Also allows you to pick a hotel close to your target attractions.

Our old Oreck XL upright is still going strong, as good or better at cleaning than others we've tried. My wife got an old Electrolux Oxygen canister vac for about $50 from a garage sale. Lightweight and cleans quite well. Really don't care for Dyson (upright and canister): Bulky/heavy, plastic chips/breaks easily. Really don't like having to dump the canisters, way too messy. If the fragments are IN your hand, then they're not magnetic. Sometimes metal flakes ON the skin may be misread as being subcutaneous. Could always ask for a copy of the film and have a look.
