I'm dubious of the battery-killing RAM as well...but I'm struggling to think of Apple's rationale for not supporting it otherwise. Why *not* charge people $600-$800 for a soldered 16GB > 32GB upgrade??? <EDIT>Had this post open too long and just realized I essentially duped what OWC Larry said :E<EDIT> <REDUNDANT>With that question unanswered, if battery life truly was anby St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
Snap it circuits used to and Legos still help bridge the near 7 year gap [2.25 / 4.5] amongst my 3. It's definitely a challenge and I would anticipate some days that nothing will work for both (or either for that matter)...which you shouldn't feel guilty about, IMHO. Play with the 3-year-old and tell the 7-year-old to read, play with the 7-year-old and 'sacrifice' the 3-year-old to some TV if neeby St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
Or start up and run it locally when you need it. LibreOffice's Base product is *very* barebones IMHO. If you're expecting Filemaker or Access, I think you'll be disappointed.by St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
Can't beat Racer X's response but yes, I use them with some regularity. I find them valuable in organizing relatable information with multiple facets or branching paths that you still want to see in roughly a single viewport. I haven't searched recently, but my historical fave is xmindby St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
Thanks for your quick response, pc. My wife is going to kill me, but hopefully my death will at least be taken with a wider angle, steadier hand, and improved image quality than it would otherwise.by St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
Quick take on this v. Canon 18-200mm IS at $380 (2-day shipping in order to reach me prior to vacation) for a mediocre enthusiast?by St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
Flopping == instant anger, even when the Pistons do it Super-teams == inexplicable hatred of said team and the kind of desperate hope that $tevie describes and I felt for the 2016 Cavaliers, 2004 Pistons, 2001 Kings, 1984-1987 Pistons and many more in between. This year was especially interesting to observe myself, as I was more passionately interested than since hating Kobe's guts was worthwby St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
It was a good move for Durant. Yes, it was 'weak' in the sense that Durant prioritized winning over the struggle to win. But what is sports about? Is about trying to win or winning? I'm always dissatisfied when there is a consolidation of the best players in a single team (unless it's a Detroit team, of course). I'm amazed that Cleveland won this year. Thank you all for the good suggestions to investigate. Quotemattkime imo, your need for a small camera and a large zoom lens is conflicted. I am concerned about exactly this, mattkime, but didn't know if the state of cam tech has advanced to make it less of a worry. camerasize.com is awesome. I will definitely take advantage.by St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
I'm taking the fam on our first big trip in a while and am considering my photo options. I've got a Canon T3i about which I love everything...except its heft. I've got the 18-200 IS lens as the 'walk-around' for its amazing ability to go from portraits to distance. I've got the cheap 1.8(?) 50mm which definitely takes nicer portraits at the expense of requiring more deliberation. And I've got a 4by St. Bernard - Tips and Deals

This. QuoteFilliam H. Muffman I think Honda is missing out by not having a hybrid in more model lines. I was considering getting either an Odyssey or a Pilot to take on the job of shuttling around crowds of relatives, but I wanted something that got much better mileage in town. The only choice for 6 or 7 people seems to be a Toyota Highlander.by St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
How high are the stakes of the outcome? Will you be OK with taking at least a share if not all of the blame from either / both sides if things fail tomorrow? two weeks from now? two years from now? What's the climate -- are these two parties dire lifelong enemies with intractable emotion-/faith-driven positions or is there broad agreement with a few key points of contention? Yep, call me a convert to at least the surface of Windows 10. It's been very stable on my Hackindoz. Now, dig under the surface and you'll find all sorts of oddities, one of faves being dialogs straight out of XP....by St. Bernard - Tips and Deals

Thanks cbelt3. I haven't checked the exchange rate lately, but that's definitely a possibility. The border crossing is a little bit annoying but it definitely checks the mark of being something out of the ordinary. Know any good spots?by St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
So, very last-minute, the grandparents volunteered for overnight duty with our three kids for Saturday night...meaning I have a chance to be a hero IF I can come up with an idea that, by necessity, involves some narrow criteria. I have wracked my brains and come up mostly empty and thus thought to tapping the near-infinite knowledge of the forum. Thanks for the feedback, guys. I'll give turning the router/router extender off a shot and see what happens.by St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
I have always broadcast my SSID without too much care, obviously with WPA2 / AES enabled. I recently got a dual-band router (make that now SSIDs) and have followed a simple naming convention: {abbreviated made-up name}{abbreviated router model}_24G {abbreviated made-up name}{abbreviated router model}_5G {abbreviated made-up name}{abbreviated router model}_Guest_24G {abbreviated made-up namby St. Bernard - Tips and Deals

Went with the Wemo, as it seemed the lowest cost investment in something with broad support (although I'm not a Belkin fan). I'll report back!by St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
thanks mattkime. My understanding was that IFTTT was a logic protocol rather than a connection protocol, but I'll need to investigate.by St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
Thanks guys. I'll do some digging. I am embarrassed to admit that I had completely forgotten about HomeKit. As a hedger, is there any protocol that is supported by both Homekit and Echo/Alexa? I really haven't dug in to the details around Internet of Things/connected home devices, but thought I'd take a baby step for the holidays. My goal seems reasonably and small: I'd like to turn on/off a light and TV by voice. Doing so via web/mobile app is a nice-to-have and possibly nice extension for future possibilities I haven't really thought about yet. Naturally, I don't want to spend a tby St. Bernard - Tips and Deals

Considering new ones were just announced, my typical strategy is to wait 'til those go on refurb (3-6 mos), then buy either new model refurb or one gen old refurb.by St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
Seconded. While I couldn't hold a candle (flash?) to pRICE cUBE's photo skillery, the refurb 430 EX II I purchased a couple of years ago made an enormous quality difference to my indoor pics.by St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
Running OS X 10.10.5 on MBPR and Safari 9.0 is absolutely pegging my CPU at 160-240%. No content pulled up, a blank page with the list of favorites and my fan is running like crazy. I've got corporate deploys of software so can't readily roll back. So bad that I'm using Chrome again :/by St. Bernard - Tips and Deals
