It seems like the Magic Jack has been around for what, maybe a year and a half? Many many people are pretty diligent (or paranoid- you choose) about their data hygiene, and I suspect that if there were anything fishy going on, we would have heard about it by now. Studded snow tires are great. Spend a little more money, go down to your local scrap yard and pick up a set of extra wheels, and have your snow tires mounted on them. Saves you having to get them changed over twice yearly.

iLife and iWork due for update soon? - 12 years ago

So I'm looking at a deal at megamacs for the Snow Leopard box set family pack, with 10.6 and iLife and iWork '09 for $155, and I'm wondering whether they're due for an upgrade anytime soon. Any rumors or educated guesses? Last time I bought iWork, there was an update maybe six weeks later, and I was out in the cold. TIA Scott

We actually cover up the whole window opening--we stick it to the wood at the sides of the window (the casing, I guess?) It seals up the whole thing. Careful of paint, though, the tape's pretty sticky. On some windows we just stick it on the sash, making it a sort of double-pane window. Sort of. But covering the whole opening seems most effective for us. Again, ours are old wood windows set

We have a drafty 135 year-old house with drafty windows. The window film helps us avoid freezing to death. It's not terribly attractive, but neither is blue skin. It comes with double-stick tape, and you cut it big. Tape it around the whole window frame as snugly as you can reasonably manage, then hit it with the hair dryer. I purchased this afternoon. $6.45 confirmed. They had some white top @800mAh, some black top @ 800mAh, and some black top @ 1000mAh. I went for the 1000's.

I still have the image of my father armed with a short broom doing battle with a rattlesnake, trying his darndest to get it off the road. The snake mostly wanted to eat him, striking at him and any cars that passed by. He finally got it off the road, and as a bonus we didn't need to take him to the emergency room.

No problems at all. It has two FW ports, one small usb port, and a port for an AC adapter (adapter not included). It came with all the cables you need too.

Powerbook G4 1.25 GHz, 2 GB RAM, MacOS 10.5.7 I haven't been having much problem; in fact it runs lots better than safari 3. Occasional beach ball I guess, but better than before.

1.25ghz G4 here. Safari 4 has been a godsend-- uses a lot less ram and a lot fewer processor cycles. I leave it on all the time, and have had no troubles for several weeks. edit: thought I was running 3, but it's actually 4. Yes, 3 used tons of ram and tons of processor time. It sucked. Love 4. Except the reload button.

My deepest sympathy. I lost my mother 1 year and 1 week ago; she was about the same age as yours. It hurts like hell, but it does get better with time. The only consolation is that it does sound like an ideal, peaceful way to go. Be well. Scott

I have one (although the wires run both directions). It doesn't always kill the fly, but if it doesn't it at least stuns it long enough to take care of it. The really appealing thing about it is that it's highly entertaining in a sadistic sort of way. And the kids will actually fight for who gets to use it.
