Success! (12" PB hard drive replacement) - 16 years ago

As mentioned here I had to replace a dead hard drive in a 12" PB (1.33ghz model). Its pretty beat up from my son using it for 2 years in HS and 2 at college and already had some bends and dents in the aluminum from being dropped. Yes I know its not for the squeamish. Son's hard drive died and now I have compatibility questions. Can I just buy something cheap like this and take out the hard drive or do I have to be sure its an old style standard ATA drive for compatibility?

TOKYO - Yone Minagawa, who became the world's oldest person earlier this year, has died at a nursing home in southwestern Japan, an official said Tuesday. She was 114. Kinda sad part is "Minagawa outlived all of her children except one daughter".

I apologize to all. It appears that a mistake by a single supplier (who new they all front for the same supplier?) caused the widespread price mistakes. I try to post only "definite" deals in the future.

Its not a typo. these drives are being closed out everywhere, see amazon link: Note that a number of these according to an Amazon review were infected with a Windows worm so reformat it when you get it.

When I'm in Manhattan and I need to get on the net I just pull over the car, always 8-10 networks and always 1-2 unencrypted. I was at a hotel with free internet but it was such a hassle getting on I just tuned into an open network.
