My dad always tells me (I'm now a father of three)...you can borrow for college but you can't borrow for retirement. Save for retirement first THEN save for college for your kids with what's left over.

Don't have one anymore. I wouldn't tip them. It just happens to be a time-consuming install. Had it done early this year...hang fiber optic cable from the main line to my house...install a new box outside...install power supply/backup inside...run RJ-45...connect, etc. Took the guy about five hours. He'll be adequately compensated by Verizon. However, coffee and some muffins wouldn't be so bad.
