Depends on the state where the car will end up with your daughter. We were about to do this assuming her last two years in Texas was stable, and then our daughter just got a new job in a different state, so we are doing those laws instead...by sekker - Tips and Deals

Also - I wish Apple had made Magsafe 3 backward compatible. I still have a ton of older MS tech. I'm all set up with USBC-based charging, too. Right now, Magsafe on the 14" laptop is largely underutilized as a result.by sekker - Tips and Deals
Background: I’ve had a chance to run a series of direct comparisons using Intel and new M1-series Macs. Sharing some perspectives that might not be found in key review articles. I thought I'd write these down and share on MRF. Feel free to post followup questions etc., below with the caveat that I only have direct access to an Intel iMac and an M1 14" laptop. Quotejdc I banned a few peeps after that thread, including newt wannabees. I keep getting randomly logged off, maybe one time soon I just might not log back in =) sekker said he was quitting Dec 25... but has posted since then I’ve tossed all bookmarks and visit about once a week if I feel in a healthy mindset. Quotevision63 QuoteOWC Jamie All I'll say is this. In a 100% segregated league where some of the best talent was banned from participating. All true. But there are some amazing numbers about Ruth. Wash U measures baseball player response times. Ruth held the fastest response time until recently when Pujols broke it in his prime. Ruth was a phenomenal athlete regardless of era.by sekker - Tips and Deals
QuoteSpeedy Kirby Puckett bulked up and made the HOF. It was a different era and not one baseball should honor. Agreed. He and Ivan Rodriguez too.by sekker - Tips and Deals
Quotevision63 QuoteBuzz Beanstalk Barry did enough to get in long before he became Buff Barry.... == He deserves to be in it for the entirety of his career. So does Clemens. Neither was ever charged with using or possessing PEDs. We can't let baseball purists win. The issue is their records are fake. It’s not a question whether they used PEDs but whether they were caught by testing. The laby sekker - Tips and Deals
Quotevision63 QuoteN-OS X-tasy! Quotehal They broke the rules and got caught - no HOF for you! They actually enhanced their bodies - they cheated. Pete Rose's crime didn't even involve cheating and he's Mr. Nobody to MLB now. He holds one of the most iconic records in the game, but he's out. Happy holidays to one and all.by sekker - Tips and Deals
After over 28,000 posts over the past 15 years, I am taking a break from MRF. I have travels ahead, and 2022 looks to be choppy waters. I am taking stock of my personal efforts, and I was finding the visits to MRF - especially with regard to some members who were treated poorly in my opinion - to mean MRF was a net negative to my mental health. I do want to thank everyone at MRF for this commuby sekker - 'Friendly' Political Ranting

I’m personally very disappointed in the negative responses to a long-time contributor to our community. Makes me wonder whether my interests and posts are similarly negatively felt by a strong subset. I considered just leaving MRF without posting. But I’ll just leave my comments here and decide whether it’s worth coming back later. MRF has a choice to be open and more inclusiveby sekker - Tips and Deals
Nice validation of the rumor that the iMacPro will be a dual M1Max machine and the new Mac Pro a quad M1Max CPU. 2021 was already one of my highest Mac bills in years. Looks like 2022 will be pretty pricey for me!by sekker - Tips and Deals
I’d look for a good GaN USBC charger. Anker, Aukey and Monoprice are my recommendations. Need 100 W for fast charging on the newer M1P/Mac machines. But I bet 60W will be just fine on your model, which is going to be a sweet upgrade over your current drive!by sekker - Tips and Deals
QuotePeterB QuoteDiana I believe that Newt got tired of certain people (and it appeared to be the same ones nearly every time) who complained of the lack of content in his/her posts; puns and alliterations that they didn’t get or they thought was beneath them or otherwise juvenile; television updates that concerned stuff they wouldn’t watch (never mind that others might find such info interesby sekker - Tips and Deals
If you want your photos and music with you as you carry that sweet machine around and can afford it, go for it. The M1 MBA is really a nice machine - and it will serve you well for years. If you find you want to update down the road, I really think it will hold its value (compared to Intel Macs).by sekker - Tips and Deals

QuoteRacer X Can someone help me understand the M1 processor in these? No clock speeds listed. I understand thermal throttling, but there has to be a number for the fastest clock speeds. They are all the same clock speed - ‘fast’.by sekker - Tips and Deals
QuoteSpiff Nope. Not fixed for me. Still get the graphic glitch on MRF Happens, but seems less frequent with each update.by sekker - Tips and Deals

The financial numbers you are tossing around are, frankly, absurd. And I am a baseball fan. But no athlete is worth $300M. Not even Lebron James.by sekker - Tips and Deals
Quoteanonymouse1 Drool-worthy. I won't be able to get one until our magic Big Brother software is compatible with Monterey (so far, the Apple privacy protection is trumping the anti-internal threat software).by sekker - Tips and Deals
Quotejdc Quotesekker I wonder whether such SSD use were to be chronic would cause wear issues down the road. RAM is designed to be dynamic; SSDs definitely have a lifetime ceiling. Perhaps, but we are talking years and years and years? For a college or grad student, we are talking 4+ years. Not unreasonable to be thinking of such a timeline.by sekker - Tips and Deals
Quotejdc Quotesekker I just checked, this M1 iMac is using 14GB of RAM without any special programs running. It's a sweet ride. I wonder what it would be like if it only had 8GB - might be a little bit bumpier moving to virtual via SSD. If you go back a week or so I posted some videos of a 14" MBP w/16 GB using nearly 10 GB of swap... and there was practically zero slow down. Admittedlyby sekker - Tips and Deals
Quotejdc QuoteC(-)ris Are you seeing a value in the 16GB models vs the 8GB? I've been looking at my users usage and very few seem to use more than 8GB of ram. CPU and GPU? Zoom and Airplay max those out consistently. 8 GB on intel MBs, or M1s? Deadhorse beating, but M1 ram just isn't the same. Wife has a M1 mini, VPN into her PC all day, and 3 zooms today, one over 2 hours. Smooth as buby sekker - Tips and Deals
