First of all, you've done a force-reboot since then? It solves most weird problems on an iPhone. Second, in a pinch you can back it up in iTunes and transfer purchases from the phone to the computer; then erase it via the Settings > General > Reset options on the phone; then restore from backup. Sorry to get in on this so late. A quirk in High Sierra's DU means that erasing and partitioning drives are a little messed up, but both are nevertheless do-able. The trick is to use the View > Show All Devices option. May need to quit and relaunch the DU to have it actually show all devices after this. You'll see that the left side of the window now shows drive-icons as well as volum

I think that you may have a linked contact. In the Contacts app, drag your dad's contact to the Desktop to create a Vcard file from it.
