The technique is referred to as 2.5D and involves two independent images (sometimes the forefront image masked/removed from the background image). The images are manipulated in 3D space (with a program like Motion) to achieve the psuedo 3D effect (hence the term 2.5D. It is used a lot in photomontages.by deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals

Great deal, but aren't we a bit late? "$40.00 Mail in Rebate valid from 2008-10-03 to 2008-10-09"by deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
Seems to work fine with 10.5.2 and Safari 3.1.1.by deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals

If you are bringing it in at 640x480, it is staying at that resolution in iMovie. Recall that iMovie presents a lower resolution/quality while in the program ("preview mode") as part of resource management. When you export your completed movie out of iMovie, it will be in final, full quality which should, in your case, be as good as 640x480 can be.by deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
I suspect you'll be fine in iMovie 5 vs 6 (since we hope 7 will be out soon!). I found the main advantage in 6 is having more than one project open at a time ...... maybe something you don't need. As for the blurry photos, I suspect that is really only an issue related to the way iMovie previews and displays video & photos in the application. Depending on the horsepower you running on, youby deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
Check to see if any of the closing CompUSA's are nearby. They have had some new ones (both 60 and 85 watt) for 30% off.by deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
Seems like the consensus is there are/were issues with some of the built-in Mac controllers not playing nice with certain firmware versions of the 7200.9 500G Seagates (it seems the newer, 7200.10's are OK). The problems have included: flat-out not being recognized (a since remedied issue due to the drive's use of SCC); wake-from-sleep "delays" of 90 sec for the drives (supposedly due tby deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
Just took advantage of this deal on the 500G SATA Seagate this week (along with a controller card from OWC) to add backup storage for three Macs in the house. Installation in an old G4 PowerMac went fine, though measured read/write speeds are less than 25 Mps. That doesn't really matter for my application, but I later found out there are some issues with certain firmware versions of this drive (tby deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
Actually, the MBP ships with a DVI to VGA dongle. I bought a DVI to HDMI conversion plug (about $15) and run the MBP into a plasma TV — works great (of course, no audio).by deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
I'll second the recommendation for the BT Mighty Mouse. Got a new MPB recently and use the MM for 80% of my work when at a desk. Pairing and recognition at wake-up work flawlessly and battery life is very good (especially compared to Apple's original wireless mouse which ate batteries seemingly weekly!).by deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
I have used the Interlink VP4150 RemotePoint Navigator for the past year or so and it is really sweet. It is RF versus IR, so no direct line-of-sight issues. It's simple, works well with Keynote/PowerPoint, has a built in laser pointer and is nice looking to boot. About $75.by deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
These prices look similar to those at a closing store in the Chicago area. Macs were marked with a 5% discount ...... big deal. Some Apple accesories were a whoppng 10% off. Good ridence, CompUSA.by deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
Suggest you donate it to new owner who appreciates its collector's value. I have an original Mac 128 that now sits proudly on display in a bookcase in our den. After my wife and I saw that this same model was being displayed in the Smithsonian as part of their American History display, we immediately pulled it out of storage and put it in our 'museum.' We gets lots of double takes from friendby deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
I have had a Krzr for about two months and I would say it's OK ..... not great, like I had hoped it would be. Form factor is nice, though buttons and screen are on the smallish side. Sound is good, but battery life seems less than my tired two year old LG. Overall, I'd give it a B-.by deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
I am using one now to run my X10 lighting system in my house. The controller needs a serial input and the legacy software still works great (OS9).by deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
Just had this done a few weeks ago at a local (Chicago) specialty firm (many out there can be found via Google). They converted about 17 rolls (50 ft ea; 3 minutes each) and put it all on a mini DV tape, so I could bring it in to iMovie via camcorder. Cost for their work was about $10/roll. Their process is not a frame-by-frame scan, but involves a special set-up in which they essentially proby deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
No, two thirds down is too much, unless there are a lot of materials to purchase. Generally, one third is closer to normal; a second third midway through the job (obviously, yours is a shorty), and a final payment after things are completed (and cleaned up!). You may want to offer to purchase the materials directly (or pay him the amount separately), and then work on a one third upfront on theby deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
I am launching into some basic video work and will need to transport files to and from my office (G4 Quicksilver Dual 1G) and home (G5 Dual 2G). I am considering an external Firewire (400) drive in the 300G capacity (OWC or other). Anybody have any thoughts/recommendations/precautions? Will video work involving swapping tons of data to this type of drive be frustrating?by deerfieldtjr - Tips and Deals
