I voted Sierra because that's what my main desktop (NUCintosh) is running, but it is also running Snow Leopard in VirtualBox and I can can boot Linux Mint from an external drive. Server #1 (Mac mini) is running Snow Leopard. Server #2 (hacintosh) is running Sierra. A 2009 MBP is running Snow Leopard. A second Mac mini is running Sierra.by Altered Horizons - Tips and Deals
QuotePeterB Interesting -- there's someone in the Amazon comments for the U2415 saying that you can do 1900 x 1200, or HDMI, but NOT both ... so is what they are saying incorrect? From my experience they are incorrect. I see another Amazon comment further down: " The screen looks beautiful at 1920x1200 via HDMI, which works perfectly and without me setting anything differently in Winby Altered Horizons - Tips and Deals
I have a Dell U2415 connected to a NUC8 running Sierra, using an HDMI - HDMI cable and I’m getting 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz. I used to have it connected to a 2009 MBP running Snow Leopard using a mDP - HDMI cable and got 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz. Verified via the on screen display and About this Mac / Display Prefs. My sister also has the U2415, connected to a 2015 MBP running High Sierra via an HDMby Altered Horizons - Tips and Deals
QuoteRacer X why does it even need to be activated? just do it. Well, if they didn’t offer a choice, I’m sure some people would complain. Actually, T-Mobile has two services. Spam Block blocks the calls on their end and the other service lets the calls through, but tags them as spam. I guess the second service is for people that don’t trust T-Mobile’s blocking algorithms.by Altered Horizons - Tips and Deals
QuoteWags Won't help you, but T-Mobile is touting a new spam call blocker. Anyone tried it yet? I don’t know why they are touting it as new, I activated it when I set up a T-Mobile account about a year and half ago. It’s been pretty good, very few calls since I activated it. Lately, since they started the advertising blitz, I’ve gotten more calls than before (two calls in theby Altered Horizons - Tips and Deals
Neither of my Macs (2009 MBP & 2010 Mac mini) are capable of running Big Sur. Both of my Hacintoshes should be able to run it, but I’m not taking them past Sierra.by Altered Horizons - Tips and Deals

Removing OSXNotification.bundle from /Library/Bundles used to used to kill the “Upgrade to our newest OS” banners. Does this no longer work? I’m on Sierra and have never seen a nag for Catalina or Mojave.by Altered Horizons - Tips and Deals

QuoteSarcany With a 2013 date on the CalDigit extension? Yup, I've seen that extension in Sierra, High Sierra and Catalina installs I've done.by Altered Horizons - Tips and Deals
Quotespace-time yes, there are some items that are old, but this is a fresh install of Catalina. Here is what I have: I took a look inside the macOS Catalina installer and found the exact same 10 kexts, located in the BaseSystem.dmg. So a fresh install can put those in /Library/Extensions.by Altered Horizons - Tips and Deals
Military Advice: Don't draw fire; it irritates the people around you. If your attack is going well, you have walked into an ambush. If the enemy is in range, so are you. Tracers work both ways. Try to look unimportant; they may be low on ammo. A good landing is when you can walk away from the plane. A great landing is when you can reuse the plane. In my experience, the key to building a hackintosh is research. Go to tonymacx86.com and look over the builds. If you find one that suits you: 1. Makes sure the parts are still available. 2. Read and understand the build/install instructions. 3. Read through the thread(s) for that build and make sure you are aware of any problems/glitches with that build and if there are solutions. 4. GGD thanks for taking the time to do this and post the info. I've been searching for info on iOS 13 and iTunes 12.6.5 compatibility. Good to know I'll still be able to manage apps and access the store via iTunes on a 24" screen, rather than a 6" screen. Still, I think I'll wait awhile before going to iOS 13.by Altered Horizons - Tips and Deals

Apple is so anal about OS updates that I'm surprised they make it so hard to unhide. I would expect them to send you a daily notification that you have hidden an update, with an "Unhide Now" button.by Altered Horizons - Tips and Deals
Hmm.. Apparently that's only for apps. Try this: Launch Terminal and enter the command: softwareupdate --reset-ignored If the command fails, you may have to run it as superuser: sudo softwareupdate --reset-ignored You will be prompted for your password. From the man page: --reset-ignored Clears the per-machine list of ignored updates.by Altered Horizons - Tips and Deals

Hackintoshes. I just finished my second build. And they will be kept on Sierra. When Sierra is no longer viable (when current browsers drop support), I'll move to Linux. I've been with Apple since 1982 (Apple ][+), but I just don't like the direction they've taken with their hardware and OS in the last few years.by Altered Horizons - Tips and Deals
