Quotehal QuoteRAMd®d LOL! The m4 Power SeeSaw. Or one could just turn it upside down. I am very embarrassed that this did not occur to me. There is no reason for the thing to be right side up. Airflow? Aesthetics?by mrlynn - Tips and Deals
Quotedatbeme Not sure what I think about the power button on the bottom, but I am curious about how often you folks are pushing it. With my 2015 iMac getting long in the tooth, I'm letting my Superduper clone shut it down after I go to bed. So I use the power button to start up, every day.by mrlynn - Tips and Deals

QuoteRobert M Sekker, As much as I love the 27" iMac 5K - I have one at home and just had to retire one due to its screen dying - I - I can see why Apple isn't producing an Apple Silicon version. It would cannibalize sales of the Mini, Studio and Studio Display. That and I think it behooves many people that the machine needs to be replaced if the built-in display goes kablooey. Nothing like that here. I do have two little sensory gizmos that sit on the floor and will emit a loud noise if they detect water. One is next to the hot-water heater in the basement; the other next to the washing machine on the second floor. I wonder if the batteries are still good. Better check!by mrlynn - Tips and Deals

My LaCrosse analogue wall clock takes its time getting back on track after a Daylight Savings time change (up or down). Sometimes it will reset itself, then go back to the old time, and not reset for 24 hours. It has similar quirks after I have to change batteries. But it always settles down to amazing accuracy: Mine is older than the one pictured on this page; instead of UltrAtomic, itby mrlynn - Tips and Deals
Quotechopper Are you running antivirus software on a Mac? Just free Malwarebytes, which I'm pretty sure was recommended here—some years ago, of course.by mrlynn - Tips and Deals
QuoteMarkintosh Safari -> Settings -> Websites -> Notifications Personally I would set all of them to "Deny" or delete them and then uncheck the box that allows websites to ask. I just helped my mother with this issue yesterday. She was getting "McAfee has expired..." type notifications every few minutes. Thanks Mark! Just did what you suggested. Just started getting fake notifications of viruses and trojans. Free Malwarebytes doesn't find anything. Shutting down and restarting doesn't get rid of them. How do I?by mrlynn - Tips and Deals
Anyone with experience from BestBuy? Their website has 'pre-owned', 'refurb', and new iPhones. We have a store near us.by mrlynn - Tips and Deals
QuoteFritz may I suggest Swappa for used phones. I'm on my 2nd, no issues. Just buy from people who've sold many. Interesting. Didn't know about the site. Under 'Condition' they have some listed as 'New'. Are these really not used? New batteries? My main concern with used phones is limited battery life. And what's the difference between 'New' and 'Mint'?by mrlynn - Tips and Deals
Our iPhone 6ses are on their second batteries and now suddenly discharging. Time for new iPhones, I reckon. Not a fan of 36-month cell-phone contracts paying extra for new phones. Wondering about getting new or refurbished ones from Amazon. Maybe SE-3? Wife likes small size. Grandson suggests iPhone 11 or 12, maybe 'mini' version (I could go a little bigger than 6s, as tiny type a problem).by mrlynn - Tips and Deals

Quotemattkime There's gotta be a few youtube videos on repairing that thing. Might be fun, probably doesn't make sense if you put a price on your time. Good suggestion—don't know why I didn't think of it; somehow I associate Youtube videos more with heftier machines like lawnmowers. Here' s one that directly addresses the problem: If that doesn't work, then the link from ADent sby mrlynn - Tips and Deals
I have what was a trusty old HP 4000 N b&w laser printer. A couple years ago a toner cartridge let loose inside and dumped toner around. I tried cleaning it out, even with a vacuum, but ever since it won't run—keeps giving me a '13.20 Paper Jam' error, telling me to open and close back and top doors. There is no jam that I can find. I'm wondering if there is some simple way to get thiby mrlynn - Tips and Deals

Quotemrbigstuff there is a fee-free card but it doesn't give you the 40,000 points (dependent upon spent amount) so I could also do that. but the 40k points amount to about $1,000 in train tickets, so it's an attractive deal for sure. That wasn't an option when we first signed up. The no-fee card did offer an initial bonus of some amount (12k? 20k?), and may still.by mrlynn - Tips and Deals
Quotemrbigstuff Any experience with their cards or general advice? Card has an annual fee of 99 but if one spends $2000 in 3 months it's equivalent to 40,000 points. Of course you have to use the points for it to be a deal... We have had an Amtrak Guest Rewards Mastercard for years, currently with First National Bank of Omaha. There has never been a fee.
