Works for me.by steveroberts - Tips and Deals
Thanks for all of the excellent suggestions. Comparing options now... SRby steveroberts - Tips and Deals
Quotemattkime I'd aim to place your main router in the middle of your first floor. I'm not certain it will fix ALL your wifi problems but it will likely do better than your current setup. Past that, you might need more than one access point. Its nice if they can be wired somehow but wireless mesh is easier to set up. --- You'd want only one router acting as a router - sometimes that canby steveroberts - Tips and Deals
QuoteOmbligo A mesh system would have been better, but if you can run wire to the upper floor and plug another router in, that would be good as well. Even if you can get the main lead to the second floor, you could put extenders to the first and third. But I would likely just go to a mesh network. Thank you for the suggestion. I do have another router and there is a coax cable on the main flby steveroberts - Tips and Deals
Friends, I recently upgraded my home router to a Motorola MG8702. The router is in the basement and I have a BrosTrend AC1200 range extender on the first floor of my home, which works well for the first floor. Reception is still very spotty on the 2nd floor, however. What would be the most effective solution to this lingering 2nd floor Wi-fi reception problem? SRby steveroberts - Tips and Deals
QuoteForrest I would get a new wireless router. A 450 Mbps router running at 2.4 GHz was common 10 years ago. Todays 2.4 GHz/5 GHz wireless routers start around 1500 Mbps and get faster. The problem with 2.4 GHz is once you get beyond three wireless devices, there’s interference because there are only 3 separate channels. Very helpful info; thanks! Quotemikebw Looks like iPhone SE should be up to 877Mbps, So yeah something is not right for sure. Are you using them in the same room to account for any interference? Some wireless access points have the ability to run 2.4 and 5Ghz networks under the same SSID. Are you able to see if your faster network is indeed separate and that your phone is definitely connecting to that one (the saby steveroberts - Tips and Deals
Quotemikebw OK I misread the part about where you said wired or wireless, thinking that applied to all devices. Unless you had a very new high end wireless access point you should expect all your wireless devices to be much slower than wired. If this is something you seek to change then you'll need to do some research into what suits your particular needs. www.dongknows.com is a huge rabby steveroberts - Tips and Deals
Thanks, Mike. Router has been restarted, but results are the same. All devices are wireless, and no new interference. I'm thinking more that it just may be an "old router" issue...by steveroberts - Tips and Deals
Friends, I've got 200mbps internet service from xfinity. My main desktop routinely gets 230mbps+ whether wireless or via ethernet. However, other devices in the house are significantly slower when connected to the same network. My iPhone SE, when connected to the same wireless network as the iMac is struggling to reach 20mbps. Other devices in the house seem to all be much slower than mby steveroberts - Tips and Deals
I have used Airmail for several years. Two standout features I use all the time: 1) 90 second delay in sending all emails from the time I press the send button (has saved my bacon several times) 2) Tracking if an email has been opened, and if so, when SRby steveroberts - Tips and Deals

A friend of mine has an active Wordpress website that he'd like to take down. But, he wants to have a copy on his local computer that he can continue to access at will, including link and graphics preservation. Is there a good Mac app to accomplish this? Thanks, SRby steveroberts - Tips and Deals
Turns out the vast majority of space was being occupied by "snapshots" from Carbon Copy Cloner. I discovered this by using Disk Utility, which allowed me to find and then delete the snapshots. My 1 TB SSD is now showing 518 GB available, whereas previously it was less than 80 GB free. Mystery and problem solved. SRby steveroberts - Tips and Deals
Running Monterey on a 2017 iMac and my 1 TB SSD boot drive is getting cramped with only 65 GB out of 1 TB free. 587 GB on the boot drive are showing as "system data"! I suspect the bloat is caused by extraneous files (i.e. system data) on the boot drive because a "copy all files" Carbon Copy Cloner backup of that drive shows about 540GB out of 1 TB free. No "system datby steveroberts - Tips and Deals

QuoteRobert M DaveC, Thanks. That answers my question. An app for mobile devices and a browser extension for computers. Definitely not a viable option as an alternative to 1Password6. Robert Any ideas on a good alternative to 1Password6?by steveroberts - Tips and Deals
Thanks, I restarted the router, installed some pending software updates and Mail is again sending and receiving.by steveroberts - Tips and Deals
Friends, I've got a 2011 iMac running High Sierra connected to my network via Wi-Fi. All was working well until about a week ago, when the Mail accounts stopped connecting. These are iCloud accounts, which seem to be able to send mail, but not receive it. Triangles are appearing next to the listed accounts. Wi-Fi shows connected and has a "green dot." Thanks for the very helpful suggestions. In Disk Utility, I unmounted and remounted the disk. It now appears. Will see if it lasts. SRby steveroberts - Tips and Deals
Friends, I'm running 12.6.3 on my iMac and just noticed that one of my attached hard drives is not showing up in the Finder sidebar. It does, however, appear in the Forklift sidebar. This disk has three partitions. Two of them appear in the Finder sidebar. I've run "first aid" and the disk appears to be fine. I checked Finder preferences, and "External Disks" arby steveroberts - Tips and Deals

It is very cool. But... I was looking for a Ford Flex, which they did not have. I did, however, find this car, essentially a Fusion wagon, which I'd buy if it were available here: https://www.carsized.com/en/cars/compare/ford-mondeo-2014-estate-vs-cupra-leon-2020-estate/by steveroberts - Tips and Deals
Friends, For the past many years, I've been using an app called Billings, by MarketCircle. It's very easy to use and has slick implementation of time tracking, billing, and invoicing. When MarketCircle went to a subscription model, I continued to use the original app, ultimately, under virtualization, as it would no longer work under post Mojave OSs.
