My wife said the reviews were much better on the 12ProMax than the 12 Pro. I know it's more money and they're the same except for being larger and better battery life, but you may want to look into the reliability on the Pro. We decided to get the Max just for more peace of mind... or at least that's what we think... unless the reviews are part of a marketing ploy to make us spend more money : )

As a professional who struggled trying to think the way that Aperture needs you to, I recently started using Lightroom 4 and I absolutely love it ( haven't tried 5 yet). It's much more user friendly and there are terrific tutorials on the Adobe website. You can watch some of the tutorials for both apps and see for yourself.
