There was folder that was corrupted. Deleting the folder did not seem to work. The problem was compounded by an alias that was now broken. Spotlight did not show any signs of the alias. I was not clever enough to read the logs in sufficient detail.by pipiens - Tips and Deals

I have been using Super Duper for years now. On Saturday I had my first problem. Tech support was outstanding. I got a series of very fast responses that guided me through the problem. I have an old 800Mhz G4 power book that seemed indestructible. It has been all over the world and has more dents than I have teeth. It has been from Antarctica to the equator many times and shows it. The super drive died a year ago. I had hoped to replace it with a new super portable 12" Mac Book pro. My S.O. is a Photoshop junky. She has been waiting for the 8 core gizmo for some time. How might I configure it to maximize the performance? I have seen the reports that show negligible improvements for Adobe applications but I suspect that in real life - doing lots for different things concurrently ( lightroom,PS2,printing,etc ) The 8 cores might show their worth. I have two of them. I had some minor problems putting the first one together but Anthro customer service is easy to deal with. They are a bit on the heavy side and you might need a little help setting things up. Anthro cuts price from time to time during the year so if you are not in a hurry you can likely save a bit. Software has been in a downward spiral for a long time. In the 1960's I was involved in automating the Chicago Board of Trade. A redundant system was implemented using two DEC PDP-8s with a massive 12k of RAM ( 8k x12 bits per word). The Ipod transfer is very slow. If you check it out you will find that the battery will be gone long before a big CF card has been down loaded. I use the fire wire version of the NextoCF . It will down load about eight 4GB CF cards on one battery charge. It recharges via firewire. It can act as a external firewire drive to get the picture files into your computer. I don't own any cars these days but I do rent a lot of them in various places. I get a wide assortment from econ-boxes to premium. I like the Hyundai Sonata the best. The last two cars I had were an Audi A8 and a Lexus. . When I buy another car it will probably be a Sonata. There was a big model revamp in 2006 . They are now big cars.
