I lost my Apple Watch 2 in the ocean a couple weeks ago (rogue Pacific wave stripped it right off my wrist). Best Buy had it on sale for this price when that happened, so I bought a Space Gray open box, excellent condition for $333 to replace mine. It looked new. I have until July 4 to return it and think I may because I also have my son's Apple Watch 2, which he no longer wears. If the Aby DavidS - Tips and Deals
My daughter and I saw a preview of it on Sunday night. It was very well done, and I expect some award nominations from it. My daughter and my wife saw the musical in Washington a few years ago, and they are both huge fans. Despite us having HBO Max, my wife is likely going to see it in the theater this weekend.by DavidS - Tips and Deals
I bought this last week for a bit less. I haven't installed it yet.by DavidS - Tips and Deals
The Pacific Ocean waves tore my Series 2 Apple Watch from my wrist yesterday morning. I just placed an order for a Series 6 (open box excellent was another $20 cheaper).by DavidS - Tips and Deals
QuoteAllGold Kaiser is not available in much of the country. Correct. Northern and Southern California, Seattle and Portland areas, Georgia, Colordo, MD/VA/DC, and Hawaii (b/c Henry Kaiser had a vacation home there). At one time, we were also in NC, MA, TX, and OH (Cleveland area).by DavidS - Tips and Deals
In my large medical group, I am annually among the top physicians in administering Flu vaccinations to patients, including this past year. That said, I would normally see about 2 dozen positive flu cases per season. This year? ZERO!! Not a single Tamiflu prescription prescribed. Masks, hand washing, and social distancing work. Not shaking hands or hugging can make an impact on health.by DavidS - Tips and Deals
Quotedavester This is because it was created by Beth Kaiser, wife of industrialist Henry Kaiser, with the aim of providing health care for all of Kaiser Corporation's workers and families. As such, its roots are as a comprehensive healthcare organization, NOT a moneygrubbing insurance company or hospital corporation like all of the other "healthcare organizations". As a Primary Care Physician (Internal Medicine) with The Southeast Permanente Medical Group, the Permanente part of Kaiser Permanente Georgia, I'm happy to read the above comments by lostinspace, davester, and Wags. I'm in my 20th year with this group, both as an employee and a patient. While our integrated healthcare model doesn't work 100% of the time, it is more hassle-free for my patientsby DavidS - Tips and Deals
Quotedatbeme Lots of great advice here. Threads like this are an important resource for many users beyond the original poster. Hopefully others will keep adding to the discussion. As an avid DSLR shooter, I'd have a hard time recommending one when they are going the way of the dodo. But while there are a lot of promising choices out there, there are so many things to consider before jumping intoby DavidS - Tips and Deals
I'd like to buy my wife a new Digital SLR camera for her 50th bday next month. She has an iPhone 11 Pro Max that takes great pics, but we are going to Hawaii next month, and I think this would be a perfect gift. However, I know nothing about new DSLR cameras. I need to do my research (including a few recent threads on here), but I wanted to get some advice as to what models to look at. I imby DavidS - Tips and Deals
Quotemikebw Quoteraz According to my wife ... anything over $300 comes back as a check. Don’t get me started on how much she spends at Costco Disagree. Last year we got back $522 in cash. I had the foresight to purchase the family cruise with the Costco VISA and we got 5% back on that! (EDIT: That is for the regular "gold" level, not Executive) I've done that several times,by DavidS - Tips and Deals
Thanks! I just bought a new single blade but would love to have a full set. Great price.by DavidS - Tips and Deals

I'm looking to see if Mosow Mitch voted for or against him? Addendum - answered my own question. McConnell said he voted to confirm Garland's nomination as attorney general "because of his long reputation as a straight-shooter and legal expert," calling his "left-of-center perspective" within "the legal mainstream."by DavidS - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
QuotergG They built a big Fry's near our old house. It was convenient for the quick pick up, need it right now item. I remember being so excited when they opened in Atlanta 10-15 years ago. Did they close "yours" or the Marietta store last year? This is not surprising, based on how poorly the stores were run. Lots of employees standing around ignoring the customers. Quotemikebw I'm normally reasonably cautious, but it seems that cars make people behave differently at times, especially in their TEENS and 20s. Driving an RWD vehicle with worn tires around a curve in the rain- too. I did this driving home from a friend's house late one night when I was 17. It was in their neighborhood, and I ended up hitting a fire hydrant. Knocked it off it's base. I pby DavidS - Tips and Deals
Jumped out of cable car on the side of a mountain in Switzerland. I was attached to a bungee cable. A couple days later, I went canyoning, also in Switzerland. This involved jumping off waterfalls into pools below, hiking up waterfalls, rapelling down, and sliding down watery shafts. Four years later, Adventure World, the company that ran these expeditions, got shut down/declared backrupcy aby DavidS - Tips and Deals
Quoteanonymouse1 So far, so good! I'm annoyed that it only took swapping out the RAM, but certainly better than needing a new computer. Interestingly, my wife's Mac Mini has done fine with the 8GB RAM that I swapped over. No crashes, but it really does not get used much at all, as I mentioned above. In my pursuit of doing various back-ups, however, I accidentally wrote over the CCC back-upby DavidS - Tips and Deals
Quoteztirffritz I really enjoyed the original series, but I seem to recall that it ended abruptly with no resolution. Agreed. I enjoyed it got premature cancellation.by DavidS - Tips and Deals
Quoteanonymouse1 Let us know what you find out.... I tried doing the Hardware Test but got an error and it would not proceed. I'm hopeful that it was just bad RAM. I realized that the 8GB RAM in my computer is PC1333. My wife has the same Mac mini (that she never uses b/c she has a newer MBAir), but hers has 16GB of PC1600 RAM (2 8GB modules from OWC). I swapped hers out into my Mac miniby DavidS - Tips and Deals

QuoteAllGold Probably bad RAM. Less likely but also possible is the motherboard or CPU. Hoping for that. Will do further troubleshooting this evening after work.by DavidS - Tips and Deals
Quoteanonymouse1 1. Try running with just 1 RAM module, then switch. 2. Sorry to say, sounds like bad motherboard. Maybe dust bunnies/ bad fan? 3. Any other usb accessories? Good enough idea to try one ram module at a time. Should not be dust bunnies, as I cleaned it well when I swapped the hard drive last year, but I’ll empty some compressed air into it anyway.by DavidS - Tips and Deals
Quotehal When you installed Mojave, it should have reformatted the drive to APFS. You're supposed to have a HFS+ formatted drive for installing 10.13. Did you reformat to HFS+ when you re-installed HS? I did not revert to HS, but that is certainly an option with an external boot drive. However, it was doing this while it was on HS too.by DavidS - Tips and Deals
I have a 2012 Mac Mini that keeps crashing. Sometimes shortly after start-up, sometimes after using for a few minutes, sometimes after a few hours. It has become more and more unstable lately, however. I only use it for my Plex and iTunes server for the house, and it typically is connected to an external 4TB hard drive (currently disconnected while troubleshooting). Some other details. Of all the companies that have "subscription models," SiriusXM has always been the easiest to deal with. I set a reminder on my phone for a few days before my plan expires and call them. Tell them that I want to renew at the $5-6/month plan and want the longest contract extension they can give me at the present time.
