Quotecbelt3 Yeah no… 1- don’t live in a poorly made building 2- get the heck outside ASAP. I still remember waking up outside my apartment at about 4 AM. Then I realized I had felt the earthquake (4 on the Richter) and had just run outside before waking up. 1. Often virtually impossible to determine that. 2. This is the opposite of advice given by earthquake safety authorities becby davester - Tips and Deals
I would definitely lean towards United, but more importantly, which airline has a hub in your home city?by davester - Tips and Deals
QuoteCarnos Jax Some people are also saying there's probably some kind of understanding between the government and Tesla now, to not go after FSD, in exchange for Tesla opening up their Super Charger network. The "some people are saying" trope has outlived its usefulness and any veracity it might ever have had.by davester - Tips and Deals
I made one out of wood that holds my MBPR at about the same angle as the MOFT. I used it a lot while working from home, sometimes alone, sometimes with separate keyboard. Definitely a neck saver!by davester - Tips and Deals
Quotegadje QuoteHarbourmaster I had the same reaction... but where can I buy a modern car with manual transmission these days? Only north america has this problem. Few cars elsewhere have automatic transmissions. Probably because fuel is much more expensive elsewhere.by davester - Tips and Deals
Six straight days of skiing this week. My butt and leg muscles hurt!by davester - Tips and Deals
I'm a soccer guy rather than an american football guy, so my interpretation comes from that angle. It seemed to me that several of the touchdowns were the result of extreme defensive fails (i.e. receivers that were wide open near the end zone with no defensive players marking them or massive holes in the defensive line that the QB simply strolled through unchallenged). Not to mention those "by davester - Tips and Deals

Interesting. My wife also has a 2003 Benz, although it has about 70,000 miles on it. It's a 2-seater convertible, an SLK 320.by davester - Tips and Deals
QuoteBill in NC QuoteJoeH QuoteBill in NC Quotedavester QuoteBill in NC So what's the actual charge per month? Or is it currently only a proposal from the utilities or their lobbyists? IMHO, all whole-house inverters should support a standalone/island mode with battery connection so they can be configured as both on-grid & off-grid installs. IMHO, all whole-house inverters should support a standalone/island mode with battery connection so they can be configured as both on-grid & off-grid installs. In many states it is illegal to buy a car that does not sell through a dealership. This is why Teslas can't be sold in some states. This is an incredibly corrupt system that is basically a propping up of an unnecessary middleman. So many state governments are totally corrupt and bought by the highest bidder (i.e. the car dealership lobbyists).by davester - Tips and Deals
SD? I'm presuming this is South Dakota, land of Big Oil, and not San Diego, land of sun-loving Republicans.by davester - 'Friendly' Political Ranting

Oops, I didn't notice the 2021/2022 thing in the OP. I retract my answer. You can't claim that expense in 2022 if you only used it in 2021.by davester - Tips and Deals
QuotePeterW If a Tesla driver/occupant hits something while the car is in Autopilot, will insurance pay for the “accident”? If the driver has liability insurance then the answer is yes, though he/she is still responsible for the accident, just the same as the pilot of a plane or captain of a ship with autopilot engaged is not absolved of responsibility if their vehicle hits something.by davester - Tips and Deals
Quotegadje Tesla still claim this is Full Self-Driving Capability which is a lie. No they don't. What they refer to as FSD is an optional system that Consumer Reports did not test so it is outside the scope of this thread. CR tested Tesla's standard "Autopilot" system. Also, Tesla acknowledges that the FSD option is not capable of full self driving now but they expect it to become opeby davester - Tips and Deals

We have nine separate accounts, with thirteen different securities spread amongst those. It was worse before and I've been trying to consolidate these. The reason for so many accounts is that we have each had multiple jobs over the years with multiple different 401ks, 401bs, SEP-IRAs, IRAs, deferred comp plans, etc. Even though I track all these items in a large spreadsheet, I have found this mesby davester - Tips and Deals

Quotekj QuoteOmbligo I would feel more secure with someone other than Biden, his age is going to be a serious issue. Same. There has to be someone. I would probably vote for Mitt Romney before I would vote for Trump. But if Hillary ran, I'd sit it out again. Well, Hillary isn't going to run so the point is moot. However, sitting out is close to the same thing as voting for Trump. People doby davester - 'Friendly' Political Ranting

Bunch of grifters who wanted something for nothing...let em go thirsty! Let's see now... 1. The developers used lawyers and sleazy tactics to subvert laws designed to stop development where there was no water. 2. The homeowners happily bought into places with no water supply for bargain basement prices with no taxes that could be used to pay for a water supply in a region of the countryby davester - Tips and Deals
