IF I was remodeling AND IF it was straightforward to pipe into the wall behind the stove I'd probably do it. Otherwise, fahgeddaboudit!by davester - Tips and Deals
I had the strong feeling that both teams were happy for it to end in a draw and didn't want to take big risks by playing a risky offensive game. Sort of boring for us viewers, but probably a tactical decision based on where they are in the standings. This is why I usually don't watch so many of the first round games, where points and standings are on everyone's minds.by davester - Tips and Deals
Qatar bribed FIFA officials, which is the only reason that the world cup is to be played there.by davester - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
It was a complete absurdity that Qatar was allowed to bribe their way into hosting the world cup in the first place. Now that they have reneged at the last minute on a formal agreement to allow beer that has been in place for a very long time it is a travesty that the games will be allowed to continue to be played there.by davester - Tips and Deals

QuoteLemon Drop And the places that still have high fertility rates generate very little carbon, in fact the least on the planet. Not entirely true. One of the greatest carbon producers is agriculture via fertilizer production and mechanized farming. The population explosion blew past the limits of natural fertilizers decades ago. The current human population requires synthetic carbon-based feby davester - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
More interesting than Trump's speech is that Steve G has posted 23 (so far) out of the total of 35 posts in this thread. I haven't read any of them but it feels to me a bit like Trump's obsessive pre-ban twitter posting habit. I'm just curious as to what sort of motivation is there for something like this.by davester - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
I think it's time to bury Josh Hawley.by davester - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
I fear that until someone puts a bullet through Putin's head (which is extremely difficult given his extreme security measures), the residents of Kherson will experience multiple future repeats of the carnage (including bullets through their heads) created by Putin.by davester - Tips and Deals
That's pretty rough. Airshows seem to be fairly frequent accident scenes. They bring together a large number of unrelated pilots flying aircraft that may or may not be up to snuff with regards to modern safety standards. A couple of months ago I went to the Reno Air Races, where the jet race had a fatality, including a spectacular fireball crash that killed one of the pilots, apparently due to thby davester - Tips and Deals
Usually there's a flange that holds that pipe to the dishwasher. Should be able to unbolt it. What brand of garbage disposal do you have?by davester - Tips and Deals
QuoteS. Pupp QuoteCa Bob I would disagree with the claim that Democrats are far left. I see a party which is basically centrist and which includes a number of interest groups such as labor, teachers, and people who suffer under the current system of medical insurance. In California the Democrats are essentially the default party for people who aren't totally crazy and for people who haven't beenby davester - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
Maybe not futile. Clamp some vice grips on it and exert pressure to pull the bolt and washer apart while unscrewing the bolt. Might need to apply quite a bit of pressure.by davester - Tips and Deals
On the flip side, my daughter's MacBook was stolen during a house burglary in our city (Berkeley, CA). I had Orbicule Undercover installed on it which directed me to its location in the adjacent city. Undercover also provided screenshots via the camera of the person in possession of the MacBook. I provided this info to the Berkeley police. They went to the address and determined that the MacBookby davester - Tips and Deals
QuoteTed King I've been burned so many times, though, by eagerly anticipating a meaningful fracturing of the Republican Party that I'm leery of the flame. But it's such a pretty flame - I just want to touch it! You might even call it a precious flame...by davester - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
So one authoritarian with a fragile ego is now responsible for causing the murders of a quarter of a million people. It's complete insanity. How can things like this possibly happen?by davester - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
Quotekj One thing that does matter to me is that EV's are really not a lot of fun for an enthusiast. I wish there were more tracks available for racing etc., like seems to be available in Europe. Gas cars could be more for hobby/enthusiast use, etc. if there were places to race, etc. Apparently you have never driven a Model 3, which feels to me like a little Ferrari with quick steering, blindby davester - Tips and Deals

Quoteraz Quotedavester "World" series? How did Cuba and Japan do? “World“ refers to the New York World - the newspaper that promoted the first series between the leagues. But you probably knew that. Actually I didn't know that. I just thought it was ultranationalist "USA Number One!" nonsense. Thanks for enlightening me.by davester - Tips and Deals
Clearly, the Bolt, with its slow charging speed, is not designed for routine long distance travel, though it and similar cars such as the Leaf is great as a local errand runner/commuter. There is a groundswell of other non-Tesla EVs out there (e.g. Ford MachE, Volvo, Mercedes, etc) that are either in production or coming soon that will be able to fill the long distance role, but not until the chaby davester - Tips and Deals
Absolutely! That low rating blows IMHO. One of the best biofilms I've watched in the last few years. Maybe it wasn't "edgy" enough for the reviewers.by davester - Tips and Deals
QuoteAmmo To say overall grocery inflation is 13% is one thing, but that doesn’t mean everyone is paying 13% more at the checkout line. It all depends on what’s in your cart. My wife is an extremely frugal shopper and never splurges - basic food, no beef and very little other meat. I accompanied her to the grocery store last week and was shocked at how prices have climbed for the things we nby davester - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
US grocery inflation is 13% 0ver the last year so this story is bogus. Inflation is a worldwide, not solely US, problem caused by the lingering supply/demand problems associated with Covid and the war in Ukraine. Also note that voting won't help because US politicians don't have the tools to deal with these worldwide issues, and because approximately 40% of inflation in the US is due to large corby davester - 'Friendly' Political Ranting

I don't know if "good" is the best descriptor. I'm slightly (but not very) hopeful that "prescient" is the operative adjective. I am quaking in my boots about the coming election (and the next one after that). This is exactly how the nazis came to power.by davester - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
