I'm reasonably certain you can just hook the Replay up to its own wireless router to communicate with your router. That way you won't even have to get the Pismo involved (though you will be able to download shows to the Pismo via the free dvarchive software. There are some threads about doing this at

I doubt you'll be able to beat that rate by refinancing. Like I said...do the math. Set up a spreadsheet with the different options and look at the after tax bottom line. The only reason to do a refi is to get a lower overall rate. It would be silly to combine the loans only to end up paying MORE. Calculate the effective interest rate on both current loans plus including adding the cost of P

I have to disagree with that...ice in a bucket of water is at freezing point. You definitely will do damage

What are the current terms of your mortgage? Since rates have generally gone up in the since two years ago, aren't the refi rates higher than your original mortgage? If so, it probably makes more financial sense to do a HELOC or 2nd mortgage to minimize the amount of loan that is at the higher rate. You should only look for a "no fee" loan when you refi to get the max tax writeoff, b

Lobbying is legalized bribery. It is a huge source of corruption in the US system of government. That's all.

Why are you walking on it? In my experience, the first 24 hours is critical for recovery from a sprained ankle...if you abuse it (i.e. walking around) you will take a lot longer to recover. Sit down right now, get your ankle above your heart, ice it down (but be careful not to freeze the tissue...use an ice pack wrapped in a towel and take a break periodically) and take an NSAID (ibuprofen is

Man, some of you tenants are just too much. The shelves get overloaded with beer and break so it's the landlord's problem? Give me a break!
I have no problem with asking a landlord to repair a fridge that doesn't get cold or a heater than doesn't he

I've been happier with the microwavable fabric heating pads that contain corn or cherry stones or some such item. They stay warm for about as long as I need heat therapy on any one area and you don't need to deal with a cord (and you never forget to shut them off).

It depends. If you back everything up then nothing will go wrong and you will have wasted all that time. On the other hand, if you don't back up then everything on your system will get hosed. Your choice.

Yes, the progressive signal from a progressive DVD player will NOT play on a standard definition TV. Such a TV can only receive interlaced images and all devices that play to it are designed to output interlaced content. Even if you don't receive HDTV content at home, a big advantage of an HDTV or EDTV set is that it can render DVDs in much higher resolution if you have a decent progressive pla

Be sure to minimize the number of splits. Every time you split, you cut the signal strength in half, which can degrade the picture quality on the TVs and possibly the modem signal. You can always try splitting things to make your cable runs convenient then compare before and after picture quality. If it still looks OK, you're good to go; if it looks worse, you need to either cut out splitters

Also, quicken comes free with any consumer mac (mini, imac, ibook). That might even make it worth springing for a mini. Perhaps you even have a copy that came with one of your macs. Even the older versions work fine...I still use quicken 2000.

Quicken, though it has some annoying issues for advanced users, is the one to beat. It is a pretty ideal package for budgeting and banking. I've used it for years. A "flat" database like Excel is the wrong tool for tracking budgets.

Credit/debit cards are mistakes for pre-late-teens. They really need to get a feel for the ebb and flow of cash before going to an abstract system like checking or debit cards. Once you do get them a debit card, make sure they keep an up to date register at all times (a debit card is no different than using a checkbook except that you get a receipt instead of write a check).

If true, then it is a Big step. Whether it is a misstep or and upward step is unclear. There are some pretty smart cookies at google who think about the whole package, not just the hardware and software. I would hazard a guess that they wouldn't make such a leap without extensive analysis of the pros and cons.
