Happy Birthday!!!by Michael - Tips and Deals
I was planning on getting a MacBook Air with M2 using the edu discount and TN tax free weekend in late July. Then I read the rumor about a 15" Air and thought I'd wait a year for the M2 price to drop to $1000 and (maybe) a 15" Air to take the $1200 slot. But, with an extra $150 back I'm back to thinking...by Michael - Tips and Deals
It seems to me that she might have a couple of days and still meet the month plus time frame. I'd certainly spend Monday on it. I had never heard of section 184--that's pretty cool. I wonder why GA and the several other states aren't approved?by Michael - Tips and Deals

Who woulda' thunk that bike chain lube was such a thing? We ride 1000 miles a year, 90% on roads and the rest on flatish trails, so not a huge amount. But, I just ordered a bottle of Silca Super Secret Drip lubricant that davester mentioned as second best to wax. And the degreaser that Zero Friction Cycling recommends. Quotegraylocks i've been trying to get my son to switch to Visible but he's a creature of brand name habit. There are groups on Reddit you can be a party line part of. also, are you on Xfinity for internet in your part of town or are you Charter? If Xfinity then Xfinity Mobile, which I've had for almost 4 years, uses Verizon towers like Visible. Here's a big reddit group to easily join:by Michael - Tips and Deals
For those who got out, the trick is when to get back in, of course. Good luck!by Michael - Tips and Deals
They have so much stuff that they put on Prime Days that I just rely on sites that point out particular deals. The first time they did Prime Days I spent a couple of hours looking over the stuff-no more. But I usually buy some things.by Michael - Tips and Deals
I watched the second movie a couple of weeks ago and thought the same thing about the tv show--it's a pretty poor comparison. I'll look forward to the third movie!by Michael - Tips and Deals
Wow-lucky you were wearing them and they stopped the blade. I was just getting ready to get out of the heavy leather glove business for yard work and just use mechanic gloves as my heavy gloves are wearing out. But, maybe I'll reconsider when I'm using equipment.by Michael - Tips and Deals
I used Palm Pilots IIIx's to collect data, 3 at a time. By 10 years ago I was buying them for $5 each on eBay. I passed them around to grad students who were part of our project with the data collection program installed. When I stopped collecting data I gave all of the leftovers (maybe a dozen) to the Salvation Army. I just looked on eBay and it looks like I missed a trick--they're selling for (by Michael - Tips and Deals
Quotetuqqer Am I the only weirdo who practices Inbox Zero? I'm keep my emails down to the couple hundred range. But I'm also meticulous about grabbing any important info from any email and putting it into some other form. It's a weekly to-do but it helps with the way my brain is wired. I do zero inbox daily. I've always done it at work and home. I get a couple hundred emails a day and in theby Michael - Tips and Deals
Quotegraylocks QuoteMichael My biggest frustration is when I don't notice that my AW has run out of juice and so my rings don't continue. While I can enter exercise into my iPhone and it gives me credit, I can't enter standing. But, I can change the goals to reduce the number of hours standing to 6 to close the ring. The next day I change it back to 12. I'm pretty sure I was able to earn a stanby Michael - Tips and Deals
When my wife and I walk 18 holes of golf, pushing our carts, I typically get half the number of steps that she does. Her legs are shorter, but not that much shorter. The only thing I can figure is that her wrist height is higher on her cart than mine is on my cart since she's 6" shorter than me-maybe that plays a role. Or maybe she's just more bouncy when she walks! I also get virtually no cby Michael - Tips and Deals
If you're a sriracha sauce lover, go grab a bottle or 2, enough to last until fall. The spring chili harvest apparently failed and it's in short supply.by Michael - Tips and Deals
QuoteRAMd®d Just out of curiosity, I might check the trade-in on my 8/256 M1 MBA. I checked for my wife's 1-year old MBA. Her's is worth $440 to Apple. I offered to buy a new M2 for her but she's actually not a fan of the magsafe connector after having one previously. So, she's not interested in trading her's in. QuoteSpeedy It is also on my calendar as annually recurring event(s). I now have the various tax days on my calendar each day for a week before they're actually due. Quotebfd The way things can work at the university, it's amazing that anything ever gets accomplished. Seeing a shelf with 'still in the shrink wrap' devices is unfortunately not unusual at the university, Before I became a chair, one of my colleagues got a small grant that allowed him to buy 30 or so second gen iPad mini's and associated hardware. The were for faculty who taught in the stby Michael - Tips and Deals
In 1971 I drove a friend to college in San Diego from the Bay Area. Gas was in the mid 20 cent range, as I recall. He paid for the gas coming back and insisted that we go to a particular station where it was $19.9 a gallon. I filled the 2 tanks on our International Harvester Scout and started driving back. I don't know what the deal was with that gas but I got incredibly poor mileage coming backby Michael - Tips and Deals
QuoteNewtonMP2100 “The main reasons for the smaller deficit are a stronger than expected recovery from the pandemic-induced recession, higher expected levels of labor productivity, and lower future disability incidence rates that reflect recent experience,” Yellen and Walsh wrote. Quoteanonymouse1 a small bloc of GOP voters What is the "small" bloc of Republican voters that Bacon is talking about? Is it the 74 million votes that Trump got (vs. the 81 million votes that Biden got) or is he referring to some other population of GOP voters? If he's referring to the Trump voters, it doesn't strike me as a small bloc, although clearly not a majority of those who voby Michael - 'Friendly' Political Ranting

I had such high hopes that Strahan would take her out and we'd actually get some representation. But Greene got 70% of the primary vote to Strahan's 15%; I guess I was a blithering idiot for that hope. It's hard to imagine that Marcus Flowers can beat her in the general, but I know a dozen Repubs who say they're voting for him and no Repubs that I know say out loud that they're voting for Greeby Michael - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
Quotepdq Only one thing he got wrong - long guns should only need a two or three round capacity. If you haven’t hit it by that time, you’re just not a very good hunter. Better reload and reconsider. I'm not sure why they shouldn't ban anything over a single round capacity. I don't hunt so maybe there's a reason, but I don't know what it would be.by Michael - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
Fortunately nobody was hurt. I've always thought that drunk drivers need to have really significant penalties to the point that fewer people will think about driving drunk (yeah, I know that when somebody gets drunk their ability to really consider whether they're about to engage in drunk driving is diminished, but still...) and those that have been charged and convicted just won't do it againby Michael - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
QuoteSpeedy “paying for/getting reimbursed for Medicare Part B/D and so on through your HSA.” I thought you were not allowed to use an HSA to pay your Medicare premiums? That other stuff is interesting. I ignored my involuntary enrollment in Part A and continued to contribute to the HSA. I suspect the IRS is too backed up to care and the HSA is in my wife’s name/SS#. Here's what Bosch said in response to a question about being able to turn off heated drying (there is not heated drying in the Bosch): A: Hi Jane, thank you for your question and interest in Model #SHXM4AY55N. When we built our house 32 years ago we ended up with a VERY slow leak in our water system. There was a single drip that would happen maybe 5 times a day below our master bath onto our drive-in basement floor. The plumber came back out and painted that blue stuff all over the place trying to fix it. It didn't work and I was so irritated by the blue stuff that I told my builder that I'd just takeby Michael - Tips and Deals
