I'm very impressed. Yesterday the foot-opener-thing for the trunk of our CRV stopped working. The extent of my skills was to turn it off and then back on on the screen in the cabin. That didn't work, so off to Honda for a (fortunately) warranty repair. If it wasn't under warranty I'd just let it sit. Figuring out and repairing an engine is just not going to happen for me.by Michael - Tips and Deals
If you click on the link that numbered provided and look down a couple of posts you'll see a woman taking a package from a mailbox and telling the owner that he's getting too many packages and it's suspicious and taking this package. It's hard to know whether she's just that moronically suspicious or is a package thief who just got caught. Her last performance makes me suspect the latter.by Michael - Tips and Deals
QuoteOmbligo It and most other stocks will fall until the Ukraine situation is concluded one way or the other. This. We're not buying any stocks/funds right now. We'll likely miss the bottom but it turn out we hate losing what we have more than we dislike missing a move up.by Michael - Tips and Deals
We just got our car back yesterday after 15 days. It was a literal fender-bender that required a new fender (remarkably cheap at $131 for an OEM Honda fender) and a very small touch-up on the bumper. We were told back in early Dec that it would take a week to do but they couldn't get us in until Feb 8, 2 months later. We brought it in and were called twice a week with an update. QuoteTodd's keyboard Personally, I—after years of experience—would use em dashes, as well. However, this is a grammar question on a student's assignment. thanks, T's kb I think either is grammatically correct. Quite frankly, I'd choose based on the age of the teacher. Old teacher, both commas; young teacher, no commas.by Michael - Tips and Deals
Yeah, a couple of years ago it got tedious but we're liking this season. We tend to binge watch them several at a time every month or so.by Michael - Tips and Deals
I'd do it. If the water lines are copper, I'd just sweat new piece onto existing to extend them and then use copper pipe straps to connect them to the stud. I'm sure that PEX is fine but I don't want to connect dissimilar materials behind a wall. That's just me. I agree with using the quarter turn ball valves. You can get PVC connectors that has a threaded end. I don't know if they're the rby Michael - Tips and Deals
I was able to use a debit Master Card that I got from United Health Care for doing an online health assessment in Google Pay to send the money to an existing bank account. I couldn't use it in stores for some reason but putting the exact amount into a Google Pay transaction took care of it.by Michael - Tips and Deals
Josh Centers is an editor at TibBITS. He says that he regularly is asked about what Apple product to buy and has put together a site that he titled, "Apple Buying Advice." He suggests you can think of it like Wirecutter but exclusively for Apple products. Here's his article: Here's the site:by Michael - Tips and Deals
Sounds like lots of us are bearded. Mine's 45 years old and I don't do anything except cut it when it gets unwieldy. My wife likes it because she thinks it makes me look her age since my beard is largely white. But my hair has virtually no gray at 68 years old. Every time I mention cutting it my dear wife comments that I'd then look 50 and she'd look like a cougar. I think not but I defer to herby Michael - Tips and Deals
QuoteMarkintosh We have a Tacoma, which we probably don't really need. A simple trailer or occasional rental could probably meet our needs just fine. Tacoma: 900 miles We have a 2016 Tacoma with double doors and long bed that we paid $30,000 for new. When I had the oil changed in the fall the used car manager came up to me and offered my $25,000 for it (with 48,000 miles). I would haveby Michael - Tips and Deals

QuoteRAMd®d What makes it worse, every time I upgrade the iOS/ipadOS, it changes my main home screen. It's a lot of tedious work to get it back. Luckily, that doesn't happen to us. It would really irritate me if it happened. If it happened to my wife she'd never upgrade iOS!!!by Michael - Tips and Deals
QuotergG Quotetuqqer QuotergG You can DL the Publix app to help you know which items are BOGO. Nice tip, never had seen that. They even have a BOGO tab. Yep, there app is pretty good and usually shows what aisle the item is in, which is nice if it isn’t something you buy all the time. I wish the app would list the prices like the Kroger app does. QuoteSpeedy Why would T-Mobile need your social in the first place? They ran our credit when we got their old-guy Magenta plan and included new iPhones, trading in old iPhones. They charge a discounted amount monthly for the new phones over 2 years. I presume they did the credit because we were walking out of the store with pretty expensive phones that we hadn't paid for up-front.by Michael - Tips and Deals
I'd take it to the Honda dealer and let them read the code and fix it, if it's still under warranty. If it's not under warranty, then I'd do the Autozone thing so I'd know what it was and then go from there, depending on the cost.by Michael - Tips and Deals

When my wife and I read this, I pointed out that our Catholic school teaching said that anybody can baptize somebody, particularly in times of extremis. I looked it up at a website that focuses on Catholic issues and they say this: Who can perform a Catholic baptism? Anyone can perform a baptism, however this is typically done only in extreme cases in which someone’s life is in danger. Theby Michael - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
Quotebtfc “ The ruling from U.S. District Court Judge Jed Rakoff Monday came as a Manhattan jury was deliberating on Palin’s suit, which claimed the Times and former editorial page editor James Bennet defamed her by unfairly linking her to a 2011 shooting spree in Arizona that killed six people and gravely wounded then-Rep. We've got our annual physicals coming up in 2 weeks. Every year we lose some weight to try to fool the doctor! We went to Feb physicals years ago to try to limit our Christmas weight gain. Both of us did pretty well but we'll be more focused on what we eat for the next 2 weeks and will both lose a couple of pounds. You said you're considering 2 kittens. Sharon Crowell-Davis is a companion animal behavior vet at the Univ of GA vet school. She suggests that getting 2 kittens is better than 1 kitten. Some people think that cats are naturally solitary and do better by themselves. We use a number of Wyze products. We bought cameras when the V2 came out some years ago. One just went south a month ago and I replaced it. We have a dozen of their light bulbs. Again, one started acting wonky so I replaced it. We have their scale and 2 of their vacuum cleaners (one was $100 at Walmart.com right before Christmas). I bought several of their light switches that we'll install in a hby Michael - Tips and Deals

I've had good luck with Swappa, as well. I buy from people who haven't sold many things. I figure they're more likely to under-represent the quality of their device so people don't return them as not as described. I have no data, at all, that supports that belief, only that I under-represent the stuff I've sold for exactly that reason. So far, so good.by Michael - Tips and Deals
