I have, once or twice, gotten emails as long as a year after they were sent... Verified by the "conversation" they were part of, and the date-stamp on them. I don't know where in cyberspace they went.. but they took the LONG way 'round!

Hmm.. have you tried it under a clean install of 10.3.9 perhaps? Had you not mentioned that it has the same problem with a 3rd party card, I'd suspect the Rev1 on-board Firewire.. which was buggy as all get out on my Rev1 at work. Never did get it working right, no matter WHAT OS I was running.. But I wouldn't think that the on-board would be involved in the 3rd party card ports. Hope

And on a more serious note; Read that article earlier today.... I hope that it develops into something "deployable" to fight HIV. I grew up in the post-free-love mid/late 80's.. and I still resent the hell out of HIV for ruining my college years.... I want that virus WIPED OUT!

There's a place here locally that makes WONDERFUL hot pepper lamb... Has none of that "rolled in dirt" flavor that is all too easy for restaraunt prepared lamb to have.. Served on a sizzling iron plate... Now I'm going to have to see if I can get there this weekend for some...

1. Don't know, but suspect it will work fine. I have no evidence other than a "hunch" at this time, however. 2. Appreciate the warning about Firewiremax.com.

Hmmm..... You all raise good points... Our local Apple Authorized shop is pretty good, so I'll give them first crack at it, after letting them know that a new machine is the PREFERRED solution. After that, I'll get on the phone and see what happens.

If it was a slot-loader, I'd put the G4 upgrade in it... But a tray-loader? I think I would give it away or sell it cheap and look for one of those Sawtooth G4's of which Grim speaks.

I've got 10 iBook G3's here at work... So FAR, "only" 4 of them have had the infamous logic board problems. I've got two here that have both failed for the second (possibly the third on one of them) time. In a while, I'm headed to our local Apple Authorized Repair Center (not an Apple Store), to have them checked out. I'm 99% sure it's the logic board issue again. Questio
