Tried to restart the computer and it wouldn't because System Pref was holding it up... finally needed to reboot from the terminal, sudo reboot. Everything seems to be working now.by jardster - Tips and Deals
Tried that. Would like to use the terminal, but tried the kill command, and dragged the system pref app into the terminal, but it said it needs to be a process or job ID.by jardster - Tips and Deals
System Preference app will not quit. Force quit doesn't work. Don't see system pref in Activity Monitor to kill it there. I know a computer restart will do it, but can't do that now. Other ideas?by jardster - Tips and Deals
My wife totalled her car just before this began, so we kind of needed to buy a new car. It was really interesting... 1st time doing it all via email (we were able to test drive the car she wanted before the shutdown). Different dealerships had vastly different attitudes. Once I got a deal I was pretty happy with, I went to a few other dealers-- responses ranged from "we can't go that loby jardster - Tips and Deals
All my kids have them and don't complain. They are usually listening to them relatively quietly in their rooms, so they don't seem to care that much. They are just happy that they can link it to their Spotify account so they can listen to their own playlists.by jardster - Tips and Deals
Recently, Chrome browser (mostly, although sometimes happens in Safari) seems to hang when trying to load pages. It'll just sit there and do nothing. I've found that if I "Renew DHCP Lease" in the network system preference, the page then loads immediately. Any thoughts as to why this is and any setting that I might change so I'm not having to do this all day. Yeah, I could useby jardster - Tips and Deals

That was good advice (sometimes the easiest things are).... I called them this AM and they said that they are aware of the issue and the developers are working on a solution. Thanks for everyone's help! QuoteSarcany If I were in a similar situation, I'd email the software-maker and ask what changes they made to the exported xls file. Seeking help with MS Excel Macros... Pleeeease. Every day I download a schedule of patients as an excel file. I then use a macro to "clean it up" so that it only has a few of the columns that I need. I made an extensive macro to make it perfect for the last few years. Then, this weekend, the scheduling software updated and now the downloaded excel file is different, because the maby jardster - Tips and Deals

I'm looking for a new webhosting company, because my current one is letting me down. All of my emails to anything that goes through the yahoo.dns are being rejected, and it's actually starting to hurt business. My needs are pretty simple. I've got a pretty small website (6 pages), and maybe 8 email addresses. Who have you found to be reliable? Thanksby jardster - Tips and Deals
I've used Evernote for many years. It allows my secretary to take a phone message, type it in (on her PC), and it'll show up on my MBP and my iPhone. The best feature was the ability to press on a phone number from the iOS app and have the phone recognize that it's a phone number, and ask if I want to "call" the number. Otherwise I have to cute and paste the number if I'm returning cby jardster - Tips and Deals
I've got several Anker wireless chargers... both ones that have the phone standing up and others where they lay down... all work great for iPhones, never tried my Apple watch on it.by jardster - Tips and Deals

Thanks for all the help. I decided to spend a little extra, since this computer should last 5 years easy, and just get an SSD in there. I can always add external storage if need be later (mostly for photos), but for now it'll be good and my wife won't start thinking negative thoughts about Macs.by jardster - Tips and Deals
Quotespace-time Quotejardster I charge my Tesla Model 3 to 80-90% capacity daily. That's Tesla's recommendation for daily driving. But if you need the extra range, then go ahead and go to 100% capacity. How do you stop it at 80-90%, is there a setting that you can adjust so it stops automatically? Yes. You can either set it in the car or using the App. The other nice thing is that you canby jardster - Tips and Deals
I wish that I could get a 2 TB fusion, which has 128 GB of SSD (instead of the paltry 32 GB), but that isn't an option for the 21" iMac.by jardster - Tips and Deals

Ok. Return it is. But... I'm just not sure about the fusion drive. 1TB is good, but it's only 32GB SSD that worries me. My wife will NOT be happy if I buy a new machine that is just as slow as this thing. I don't really like the idea of having external drives, but I guess another way to go is having a smaller internal SSD and a larger USB drive (I really don't like this option). I was afraid of that... a little disappointing that this drive is what they have as the "default".... guess I'll be returning it for one with either an SSD (prices are pretty high) or a "fusion drive".... What is the consensus on the fusion drive. Does it make this thing useable? And BTW... the old 2013 iMac had a 5400 drive, and the thing worked great.by jardster - Tips and Deals
Our 2013 iMac's logic board died last week. Didn't think a $500 fix was worth it, so purchased a brand new (just updated). It's used by my wife for simple web surfing, email, iMessages, and Photos. Nothing heavy. It's a 4K, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB 5400 HD. So.... it's SOOOOO slow. Spinning beachballs all the time. Try to open an app and it takes 10-12 seconds to open. Everything is like mud.by jardster - Tips and Deals
