Quotebazookaman The most expensive thing about running Windows on a Mac is buying Windows. It is software to learn and improve Goose calling. It has a microphone, it records your calls and provides feedback for improvements. It says it will run on XP and 1.5 gig of memory. I might just buy a laptop from the University of Wisconsin surplus. They include a license and can be as cheap as $15by goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I do not have a Windows license. It says it will run with Windows XP, 7, Vista or 8 ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I would like to buy some software that will only run on windows. What is the cheapest way to get windows running on my 2009 or 2012 macbook pro? ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Thanks I will check things tonight. Kind of bummed the battery did basically nothing. Good thing I made a nice holder to keep the upper half at a 85 degree angle while working in the iPhone. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I just replaced my daughters iPhone 5 battery with a new one monday from OWC. It does not hold a charge much better than her 2.5 year old original. Today in 4.5 hours it dropped to 17% from a full charge. Barely being used as she was in school. OWC is sending me a different one. Is there anything else I should do or check? ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Don't get too excited. There will probably be a unscheduled shut down of a refinery for maintenance to get prices back up. That happened in the midwest 2 months ago. Gas went up 50 cents/gal in one day. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
1997 when using my 6200 performa.... Anyone remember the user that briefly switched to the name ifool? Pretty sure it was jdc, correct me if I am wrong. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I will look into the repair. Tonight I bought a used 13" mid 2012 tonight. I have it back up and running just as it was before. Well looks the same but much faster. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
QuoteSam3 What about taking to an Apple Store and having them send it out to their repair depot. For a flat charge, I think it is $310, they will replace anything that is needed to make it work again. I've done that a couple of times with my 13" MBP. I would take it apart first and try to clean and dry it as much as I can, however. I took it to apple store the check in guy told me it wby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Was there any problems with the 2011 13" macbook pro video? ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I have my 2009 running off the drive via USB. I have updated the time machine. Now to find a replacement.by goosegunner - Tips and Deals
It is a 13". I did just find my newer tech adapter. I am going to try and boot my 2009 with the drive and up date the Time Machine drive I had for my wife's 2010. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
The 2011 I am looking at is actually the early one a 2.3 i5, shipped with 10.6.6. Might be able to get back up and running quickly. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Big mess too because we had lots of photos on there that will need to be transferred to different computer which will most likely be a different version of iPhoto. Luckily I do have backups of the Library incase the transfer goes poorly. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
QuoteGGD Quotegoosegunner gg What OS was she running? The Early 2011 can run 10.6, the late 2011 shipped with 10.7, although I'm pretty sure that the 13" late 2011 will run 10.6.8, not sure if the 15" late 2011 will. A drive transplant would likely work as long as the computer can run the same version of the OS (ie 10.7 for sure, likely 10.6.8 with all updates applied). Withby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
QuoteGuyGene Help you goose, help you. You're going to need it, when she finds out. I think the '11 will work with the '10 drive... Oh she knows, so do my kids who are all giving me grief about not doing as I say about liquids near computers. I told them all, "See that just shows how fast accidents can happen" Of course I didn't have a current backup and of course our checkinby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Last week I spilled a cup of coffee on my wife's 2010 Macbook pro. It was closed but plugged in. It died immediately. I am looking at buying a used or refurbished one for now to replace. I found a 2011, can the drive just be changed to simplify the transition or would the old drive be missing files for a 2011 to boot? ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Thanks for the info everyone. She is still considering it, but her main concern now is the miles allowed. Anyone know how they treat wear and tear? Do they hammer you when you turn it back in? ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
If possible hopefully I can convince her to put the $5K in a separate account and add to it monthly over the next 3 years. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Quotespace-time Quotegoosegunner oh yeah it is a 3 yr /36,000 mile lease gg is this enough for her? how much does she drive now? what if she moves or change jobs and has a longer commute? take all this into account. I think it would be close. I have asked her those same questions. I did see that the overage is 15 cents per mile, so 5000 miles would cost her $750. Not too terrible divideby goosegunner - Tips and Deals

Quotespace-time what is the down payment on the lease? how much does she drive per year? my local honda dealer had seme offers over the past 2-3 years where you could get a low mileage lease (10k/year) with $0 down, $99 or sometimes $129/month. Lately they don't have this offer anymore, it is more like $149/month and $999 down. And the lease is only 24 or 30 month, which means you have to go tby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I have always been against leasing. My daughter who is one year out of college and employed is in need of replacing her vehicle. She is considering leasing a Civic EX for $159 a month 12,000 miles a year for 36 months. She likes the fact that it is new and she would not have to worry about repairs. The Total of payments being less than $2000 a year I struggle to advise her against it. Whenby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I have one of the 10% mover coupons and access to the edu coupon. Just trying to resist the temptation of upgrading from the 2011 13" macbook air I just bought used for $500. If my high school daughter drops the used one I am out less money.....that is what I will keep telling myself. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Is that coupon truly individual code 1 person use only? ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Nah, but they have been pretty steady for the last 6+ months. At least in the 240 GB range. Bought mine for $79 on sale last October, same drive is $89-99 now. But all the time you have lost! LOL/ I can't really imagine a 240 GB SSD getting much cheaper than $75 ish. Would be nice if 480 Gb would drop to $100-130 and 1 TB to $150... But so far the cheapest 1 TB I've seen is just shy oby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
When selecting a drive for 2009 and 2010 macbook pro is there any one brand that is best? Is there some software that needs to be used with certain drives? ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I have an extra airport extreme that I was going to put in the shed to extend the wifi network. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
For what I am using it for it sounds like I should either Try wifi or figure out the cat6 with lightning protection. 1. I want to have internet access in shed. 2. Want to have a camera or 2 in or on shed. 3. Might want music out there from storage in house. 4. Remote temperature monitoring of my wood boiler via X300 Pretty basic stuff. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Quotespace-time QuoteFilliam H. Muffman Quotespace-time Folks, if he has power lines going from the main building to his shed, the simplest solution is power line adapter, you can buy a 500 Mbps rated pair and should achieve 100 or more Mbps. There is no need to run additional cables. I don't have any experience with power line, don't both adapters need to be fed from the same breaker to get 10by goosegunner - Tips and Deals
