Just trying to make a last minute decision on which camera to buy my 14yr old daughter. I would like to get her something that can capture good quality pictures of her High school years. I have narrowed it down to 2 I think. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 or Canon SD600 She wants something small that she can keep in her purse. They both seem to get pretty good reviews. Any user feedbacby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I did it for a few years at my house where dial up was the only option. Graphite base station with modem. It was nice because I could make the base station dial up with out having the desktop awake. I tried with some luck for a short time to share the modem in the desktop over a netgear but it was very flaky. I switched to the airport and it just worked. I have the thing sitting in a boby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Files are right about 1gig. I had 25 gigs left on a 120 gig drive. I had dumped a bunch of the Video_TS files yesterday while cleaning everything up. I am in the process of getting all my drives cleaned up an trimmed down. I now have 75 gig free. Click the avi files this morning and no beachball. Right on BGnR! thanks ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Thanks, that is correct, not even just move it, but click it once in the finder and I get the beachball. Only on AVI files though I think I might have to do a archive and install to straighten out the Finder problem. I have a few other issues that are giving me trouble in my user account but not others. I will try going straight from the DVDs from now. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Yes I got the instructions and I have VLC for AVI files. My QS can easily play the AVI files I have made. But if I click on them in the finder to move to another folder or drive I get a long spinning beachball. If I open from VLC menu it is fine. I was using the MacTheRipper files because I had them on my drive already for backup. I used the Video_TS file because it was handy, and I thought Hby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Second try overnight did the same thing. I think I will try the .avi format BigGuynRusty recommended for eyehome playback. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
BigGuynRusty Before I trash my Video_TS files to make room I am making them into Mp4 files. I am just using the default size. I thought it would be nice for taking several movies on a laptop without taking up a lot of space. Not sure if it will fit the ipod or TV screen well though? I have done some in the .avi as you suggested but for some reason my computer does the old spinning beacby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I played the file in DVD player and it plays fine with sound. I guess I might just try it again overnight. It took most of the afternoon and evening for the first one. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Ok, that is what I meant, Even though the button you use in Handbrake says RIP 1. I first ripped with MacTheRipper 2. Selected the DVD folder, not the Video_TS 3. Encoded with Handbrake No sound ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I tried ripping a Video_TS file with Handbrake, the picture came out great but the audio is missing. I selected the DVD title folder in Handbrake which contained the Audio_TS and Video_TS folders Anything else I should have done? ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I picked up a Maxell head cleaner for $5.00 are those adequate? ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I have a Panasonic PV-DV910, I have never been very impressed with, but the original battery is shot. Just wondering where the best place to buy replacement Camcorder batteries? And what about cleaning the tape head, is that recommended? What is the best method? ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
DO NOT BUY, I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY THE NewerTech FM Tuner. It is total garbage. I bought one from OWC a while back. It never did work right. Sound was just awful. I tried it in 4 different vehicles and with 2 ipods and a Rio. Sounded the same with all. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
My regular user account just started doing that. If I log in as another user it sees the missing drive fine. Might be time for a reinstall for me? ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I still chuckle to myself when I think back about all the negative posts stating what a stupid idea it was to come out with a mp3 player. The other board at the time was unimpressed to say the least. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I have Us Cellular my contract is up but I don't really care for the phones they offer. Motorola razor v323 LG UX210 UX5000 UX245 UX355 Where is a good place to buy unlocked phones? What would be a good Nokia with Bluetooth to be compatible with Mac? any other recommendations other than nokia? ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Finally got my DSL 1.5Mbps, so long 24k dial-up. Speed is much appreciated but my network is not working out quite like I was hoping. First off, it took me for ever to get my wireless netgear 814v2 to work. I called to change my password Thursday, guy said it was all set. I tried and triedo get the neatgear log in. I finally called them, he had changed the password, but not what we had sby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
That would be nice if we had competition. Finally getting DSL on Weds, 256k is 24.95 1.5Mbs is 39.95 But I have been paying $41.00 for 24k dialup with our 2nd phone line, so I'm not complaining for now. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Cat6/Co-ax bundle, would have been nice from the beginning. I wish I would have known more about this stuff when we built our house 9 years ago. Didn't even have the internet then, not that it would have mattered much on the 6200 performa we had. Can't believe I still use macs after that one. Anyway, with satellite TV most people run double Co-ax for local channels. Turns into a tough wirby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I thought it might be easier to fish the wires through the ceiling and walls if they don't have the connectors on. My basement is finished with drywall, but I do have some access along the soffits around my duct work. Its not going to be easy but it can be done. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
I am finally getting DSL in the next week or so. I want to run some ethernet cables to have the modem and old laserwriter 360 in a different room. When buying Cat5e wire is there different qualities that you should be aware of? Is the 500' roles from the big box stores like Menards or home depot ok? I have 2 wireless 802.11b routers, graphite base station, and Netgear MR814v2, but I thinby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Put 70,000 on my OEM Michelin that came on my Jetta TDI. But the were absolutely terrible on wet roads. I now have Nokian Hakka RSi for winter Nokian NRHi for summer. Great safety all year long. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
No I just plugged the asante talk into my G4. When I share my dial-up via G4 modem/airport or Graphite station modem the laserwriter shows as a shared printer. I was thinking of going to a 802.11g just for the added speed of file sharing with a notebook. I no longer have the ibook, but will be getting something soon. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
Just a few questions about creating a network in my house. I would like to change a few things. I had been using, Graphite base station G4867/ airport card laserwriter 360/ asante talk plugged into G4 ibook/ airport extreme I would like to put DSL modem, 802.11g wireless router, and laserwriter connected to router in one area. Ethernet wire to G4 40 feet away. Right now Iby goosegunner - Tips and Deals

No problem, hope more people can put it to use. Last night my daughter tried a few of the files and she said they are the same as on a pc. They are timed flash card type files that ask how to spell words or phrases. There are also quizzes and practice quizzes. The one thing It does create a lot of files so you have to pick through to find the right ones. I then rearrange them in folders toby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
When I say unfinished area I mean utility room, The computer is in the basement level also, in our family room. I will be buying a new computer for our office upstairs. To replace our ibook that was sold. Speaking of that I will need to find the best way to manage bookmarks and documents across the network. I had major problems keeping things the same on 2 computers doing it manually. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
The reason I was thinking of putting the modem in the unfinished area of my basement was to get rid of some clutter. Modem router/wireless laserwriter 360 Could all be out of sight. I do have an airport card but would rather have the tower hardwired. If not I think I would want a G wireless pci card. One of the problems with our phone lines is they are one line, the electrician didn'tby goosegunner - Tips and Deals
