Local school selling these, what do you think? $350.00 Apple Quicksilver G4 867MHz 512MB-1.5GB 40GB-60GB DVD or CD-ROM Still a pretty solid, expandable computer for basic needs. Wish I would have saw these a week ago. A coworker has a 867 and the motherboard went out. He got an estimate of $450 to fix. Ok then, I just thought I would ask because I do remember reading here one time that long holds have rendered the PMU useless=replace motherboard on some Quicksilvers. I do not not if it is backed up by fact. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals

A friend called me and said that while switching users on their Quicksilver G4 the screen came up gray and won't go past even after multiple power offs and starts. OS 10.2.? any sugesstions? I suggested a CD boot to see what comes up, haven't heard back yet. ggby goosegunner - Tips and Deals

I'm getting my daughter a cell phone this year for her birthday/starting high school. We have US cellular, just wondering what is the best phone choice for reception and quality/ durability. My daughter used to use MSN Messenger to chat with her friends. We now have version 5.1.1 and it will not let her log in. She can log in at her friends house with their pc's. Got a notice from Yahoo that my password was changed. Not by me though. Can't log in any more. They tell me to send in info from when I first did my profile. Problem is I didn't use my real birthday and it has been so long that I can't remember what I used. They won't open it up without it. Today I came home and wife had shut down the Quicksilver. I pressed the power button and it would light up but not chime. I unplugged the power cord pressed the reset button for 5 sec and tried again. It started but reset the clock. Couldn't open Date time preference but when I connected to internet it reset itself. I have been doing this for a while with an ibook and a G4 tower. use Preference/Sharing/Internet I originally used the G4 tower internal modem and shared the connection with the ibook via airport cards. Worked great except I didn't like having to keep the tower awake, and running connected all the time. I bought a graphite base station with a modem that works much better. I thought I would just get a pair at LA Computer Store for $14.99 Shipping is $8.06 Figure I might as well get 2 pairs, Shipping is $12.10 for 2 pairs. Only thing I can find for password protection still allows the user to view as read only, am I missing something? Can you make it so you need password to open Document? No SS's. I originally sent out a blank worksheet and asked family members to fill in and return. Some couldn't even open, others used some version of Microsoft works Spreadsheet program.
