I froze my credit about a year and a half ago when I had a particular incident. I recently unlocked Equifax at the end of August to apply for something but that was only for about 10 days. Looks like it was open to the hack during that time, most likely. As far as I know, all three are still frozen. I'll double check this week.by trisho. - Tips and Deals
QuoteBill in NC Will be dumping Mint for something like Moneywiz or Moneydance (either option must support ALL my online accounts - looks like anything that uses Yodlee will work) Which of those is better in "automagically" assigning expenses/income to relevant categories, in everyone's experience? I don't mind making manual changes, as long as the program can learn from the correby trisho. - Tips and Deals
Vision63... that's like the burrito of shame and frustration. Annually eaten. QuoteGuyGene Yes, back, good. I've had to do international currencies too, still working in two now. I had to use Account Edge. A bit expensive, but it does it. I was thinking the newest Quicken did too, but my version is old. I totally forgot about Account Edge. I just checked out Moneydance per RobertM's recommeby trisho. - Tips and Deals
QuoteRobert M trisho., Welcome back! Check out Moneydance. It's a more mature product than Moneywiz and might be able to handle your International accounts. Not a perfect app but a very solid choice. Robert Thanks RobertM. I was thinking of Moneydance as well but I don't think they have the multiple bank accounts in different currencies option. I'll double check though.by trisho. - Tips and Deals
Howdy folks. Long time no type. I'm trying to get back on the wagon with my finances after a few rocky years. I came across MoneyWiz https://wiz.money/ last week on one of those app bundle sites.. Setapp. That's the one. Has anyone ever used MoneyWiz? I searched the forum but the results I got were a few years old. I've used several apps in the past and want to get back on the wagon. It's usually Google Chrome that's sucking up space. I'm in the process of closing a bunch of tabs. Both to possibly get my computer fast again and to clear out visual/mental clutter. I don't think it's just Chrome though.by trisho. - Tips and Deals
And how do I stop the bloody thing? It's made a brand new MBA utterly slow and highly annoying. What can I use to possibly clean out my system and reduce kernel_task's memory? Seriously, this is a 2 month old computer, totally brand new, not even refurb and it's slowed down tremendously in the last couple of weeks. It's infuriating.by trisho. - Tips and Deals
Hey guys, sorry for the late response. I couldn't access the forum for the last 12 hours or so. It just wouldn't load in multiple browsers. Quotemattkime Hm, who will you be working for and how will they be paying you? Initially I thought you'd be paying uk taxes and have uk health insurance. I'm being paid by an American company and I'm not eligible for NHS. I'll have to go through priby trisho. - Tips and Deals
tronnei, thanks for the hook up. mrbigstuff, I started thinking about it and I'll go digging through some ex-pat forums to ask questions. I think the ones for London/England may prove to be useful for now. I'm planning on getting full ex-pat travel insurance that covers prescriptions too, so now I'm wondering if I should only bother getting a 6 month supply from the US before I go? What wouldby trisho. - Tips and Deals
For those who don't know, I'm ex-patriating out of the US in the next two weeks. I've been trying to get my @#$%& together and of course, life being life, @#$%& happens. I'm wading through health insurance and prescription stuff right now. I found out my insurance company denied my vacation override but didn't tell me. A vacation override is what you request to fill multiple months' prescriptionsby trisho. - Tips and Deals

Here are some recommendations I've gathered from FB friends who are also self-employed: TrustFax - (A friend has used this for 7 years with good experience) PamFax - - (Another friend has used this for 5 years with good stability and she's been a digital nomad for the past 3 years in an RV) A third friend recommended HelloFax. Quotedatbeme If you happen to have the full version of Acrobat, you can save as a password-protected PDF and then share via Dropbox or the like. That's what I did when when sending a bunch of sensitive docs to a mortgage broker awhile back. Unfortunately I'm sending this to a bunch of loan officers at a call center for my bank, so I can't password-protect a PDF. It needs to be able to be read bby trisho. - Tips and Deals
Can anyone recommend a good non-spammy email-fax service? I used eFax a long time ago and it always felt shady. I'm looking to email-fax a ream of documents to my bank later tonight and would like a relatively safe service as these are financial docs with my SSN on them. I'm willing to pay $10/month or whatever for the month, just to ensure it's done properly. I'll probably be faxing about 15by trisho. - Tips and Deals

Quotebtfc Happy Birthday, Mrs. M! Happy birthday! As for what I'm doing today: I'm somewhere in between lines. I normally teach at a tech institution here in NYC and we're off today. I'm getting done a bunch of personal stuff that I haven't had the chance to do yet and have been putting off for a while that I need to get out of the way. Thanks for the run down, Speedy and thanks STL for the links. I'm planning to buy a 2TB drive this week so I can finally consolidate all my disparate drives down to one. It's insane going through all the different devices and connections that don't work anymore. What do you guys think is the best way to ship them down to Florida? Howdy folks, long time no visit/speak. I'm getting ready to move to Europe and I need to get rid of some electronics hanging about. I have a MBP that I bought in February 2009 that I'd like to properly back up and then wipe to give to my brother and his family. It has 4GB of RAM and I don't remember how big the drive is. Maybe it was in the 300GB range? I'm honestly blanking. The mouse pad is gliby trisho. - Tips and Deals

Quotemattkime Quotetrisho. I totally know what you mean. Now that I'm self employed again, I have to push myself to leave the apartment on the days I work from home. Hrm, you guys have me thinking now. It may be time to venture on down to Best Buy to see what a 24" vs. a 27" really feels like. Like I said, it's been a while since I've bought an external monitor. Thanks for the help everyone.by trisho. - Tips and Deals

I have really crappy young eyes, so I'll probably keep the resolution around 1920 x 1080 anyway. That said, I should probably check out some other high res monitors because I should look at my web work in resolutions some users may have. Hrm. I guess I may be on a $300 max budget but I'm willing to wait a bit longer to save up another $100 to get a different monitor. I briefly considered thisby trisho. - Tips and Deals
I recently bought a damn fine refurb 13" MBA and now need to get a new monitor to work from home. The last time I bought a monitor was about 5 years ago. I'm not hip to what all the kids like nowadays. (Says the 33 year old.) It looks like it has great features and is only $220. The inputs also seem to be in order. What say you all? Any other recs? Hrm, how popular are the fixed price sales now? If I can get rid of some software just by selling it at $50 a pop each out of the gate, I may just do that. I just bought a magazine off eBay fixed price and found it convenient but didn't realize a lot of folks were using it now. My rusty gears are turning...by trisho. - Tips and Deals
Thanks for the insight guys, that was a huge help. I think I may do 5-days with a Buy It Now price on all of them. Just to auto start.by trisho. - Tips and Deals
Hey gang, I'm going to list some stuff on eBay tonight (software and probably a piece of clothing). I know it's good to end on a Sunday night / evening, but what about the length of listings? I think eBay said in their stats that a 5 day listing was best for certain types of goods, but I think I read that a year ago. Not sure what it's like now. So, for software, hard drives and clothing,by trisho. - Tips and Deals
