I'd love an iPad that had the same functionality as the Surface Pro (but with a bigger screen) and be a Mac.
Ah, so you want an Macbook Air 13" with a DVD burner that weighs 1 lb. Got it.
Seriously though this Acer hybrid running 8.1 does tempt me, though I wish it had an HD screen and a Haswell chip.

My son went from an iPad mini to the iPad Air. With a much smaller weight difference, the larger screen was worthwhile to him.

The 5c needs to be a lot cheaper than the 5S for it to have a chance.
They should target the C to the prepaid market and sell it for full price of no more than $350, unsubsidized, or as others have said, don't offer it at all.
I can understand this stance from the consumer perspective. But from Apple's perspective, this makes no sense at all.
As the article points out, the 5C is s

I just had to load a CD-ROM full of Instruction, videos, animations given to my daughter from her AP-Bio teacher onto my daughters MBA.
An iPad would not have been able to do that. This is just one example, but while you *can* create content on an iPad, a full laptop is much more flexible.
I'd skip the 512gb SSD and just get 256gb. Also get an external 1 TB for backups.

Do your BT speakers automatically pickup the source when it enters the room? What do you do to get the speaker to pickup the source...is it automatic?
Unfortunately, no they don't. They need to be paired each time for use which is a simple few second process, but not one my wife will ever deal with.
I'm not sure why they don't as my car reconnects automatically and starts playing

I think a relevant point when discussing Airplay flakiness is whether the Apple TV is connected via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. I have no issues using Airplay to Apple TV connected via Ethernet.
Airplay is entirely dependent on a robust network connection. Ethernet/Wi-Fi G or N, 2.4G v 5G are all important details.
Our Airplay speaker will cut out if I step into another part of the house which has

My B-I-L has a Sonos set up across 3 parts of his home including a bridge connected to the main receiver. They control it through the iPad and use the Sonos App to playback from a single iTunes library. I'm not sure how it works with 3rd party music apps. I think Sonos supports Internet radio streams natively, but not sure about Pandora, Spotify, Rdio etc.
They like that the same music can b

iOS pretty much kicks ass at it as though its some sort of OS upgrading superhero. developers like this. then again, those with older devices seem to get left out eventually.

My son pretty much develops for the 2 most recent versions of iOS. He says this covers over 90% of the user base and the ones who don't upgrade are unlikely to pay for apps/in-app purchases.

I agree with the lawsuit and unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any easy way to remove the auto-downloaded update from the iOS device.
Hope the lawsuit will make Apple fix this.

Except for a small AAPL holding, I've gone all Total index in the past two years.
Takes the emotion out of it (as well as the gambling), but I do miss mini-celebrations like this. Ah well, guess I've got a fraction of GOOG within the Index as well.

My teens moved to laptops around 8th grade.
I'd say 9 & 7 is too young for their own MBA's. Air's (most laptops) are relatively delicate machines and expensive to repair. I doubt they need the portability very often. I'd recommend getting them $700, 2010-2011 vintage iMacs.

Decent deal, though refurbished. One review indicates this works with the iPhone 5S, so the chip meets Apples auth standards.

Right now we have 305 loans of $25 with an average return of 8.38%. As people default on the loans, that effective return will be reduced. The LendingClub algorithm predicts that we'll have a default rate that reduces our actual 3 year return to 6.8%.
How is tax reporting handled by Lending Club? Both for Interest and for defaults?
I can see this being worthwhile if it can sc

Have you tried DNT+ or Ghostery?
While these are more for Trackers than Cookies, I think you'd want to block these as well. I use Ghostery with FF.

We caught this on a sneak peek Thursday night in 3D as well. Absolutely agree, this is a must watch in a theater. Sandra Bullock's performance is amazing. The effects completely make you feel like you're in space with her.

One thing to be aware of is that unless you have a very minimal iPhone case (or no case), you'll most likely have to remove your iPhone case to use a lightning dock.
I have yet to find a case that I feel provides sufficient drop protection and also works with a speaker dock.

We have a 2012 MBA with 4 GB RAM, and a 2013 Haswell MBA with 8 GB RAM.
The reason we went with 8 GB RAM is our usage:
We were having 3 people each logged into the same 4 GB MBA. Each person invariably had 2-3 browsers open (with 15+ tabs), Word, Flash loaded (Youtube). We would see many spinning rainbows and I figured it was due to RAM.
With the 8GB MBA, we are seeing much fewer spinni

I've used the HTC One quite a bit as well - friends, family, co-workers. I'll grant you the HTC One has some amazing HW specs (gorgeous screen, great speakers, excellent build), but it is nowhere near as responsive a
