I just got a phishing e-mail claiming to be from PayPal saying they were going to suspend my account unless I clicked on the link, yada, yada. Thought I'd check it out. I entered my address as noway@jose.com and my password as yourkidding. Here's the page I went to next: Security Measures Dear nowaby celliott - Tips and Deals
Sorry, I've looked and can't find the thread I thought I read a few weeks ago. I'm looking at moving to a G5 from a G4 MDD- I have 3 Maxtor drives that I'd like to put into the second drive bay and in the front open area. What adapter(s) would I need to get it done? Also, if I mount additional ATA drives up front, what PCI card exists to allow me to connect to them. Again, sorry, I know it's bby celliott - Tips and Deals
I live in central Illinois. Drove to Chicago and three hours later had my passport. I took my pictures and paper work with me. Chicago didn't take appointments (at least not then- 2 years ago), you just showed up and got in their que. 6 hours driving for me but when I left I knew I had it it hand.by celliott - Tips and Deals
It just loaded for me, and unless I missed something, there don't appear to be any new additions. :-(by celliott - Tips and Deals
BGnR, Thanks, but actually the wizard on the CD is a Mac version. They have two versions on the CD for Macs- OS 9 and OS X (in addition to a Windows version). I did use the browser method and all seems to be going pretty well. I'm learning while I go, picking up a little here and there. Thanks for all the help you can give me.by celliott - Tips and Deals
Hey, Guys, I got it up and running. Only MAC address security right now. I have my MDD and my oldest son's Mac Mini going through the Belkin router via ethernet. I have my G4 iBook G4 and my youngest son's G4 iBook going through the Belkin via Airport Extreme. I also now have my wife's Windows ThinkPad going through the Belkin via her built-in wireless. All can access the internet through my cablby celliott - Tips and Deals
Well, I looked under About this Mac, more info and went to the Network section. Under locations I found the Harware (MAC) Address. For illustration purpose lets say its 00:0a:14:ff:fe:e0:0e:36 (not the real address). In the Belkin set up, I went to the MAC address filtering. there is a check box to enable along with a another box to insert the MAC address. I tried doing so, but it only accepby celliott - Tips and Deals
Well, 8th grade responses aren't working- how about 6th grade? I appreciate the help, but "mac filtering"? Like I said, I'm new to the lingo (and the implementation). I need some education not just on what to do, but what it is and how to do it. I'm feeling really dense at the moment.by celliott - Tips and Deals
I've been using a Belkin ethernet router up until now but decided to go to a wireless router in order for me to use my G4 iBook wirelessly and my wife to use her windows laptop wirelessly. I bought a Belkin F5D7230-4 Wireless G Router. I simply hooked it up and it works. Great. My base computer is a MDD 1.25 Ghz machine running 10.4.6 connected to the router via ethernet. My question is thiby celliott - Tips and Deals
Thanks for the input. As it turns out a .cda files appears to be only a marker or shortcut on a CD pointing to the actual music file elsewhere on the CD. I thought it was funny that the files were only 4K each. It appears that the kid only copied the cda file rather than the music file and sent it to me. That's the best reasoning I can come up with after looking at a couple of sites includingby celliott - Tips and Deals
The kids just e-mailed us back and said he thinks it was done on LogicPro. Does that fit the extension information. I can't afford it at just under $1000.00 and don't know anything about it really. Can music put together in it be exported into some standard format such as aiff or mp3?by celliott - Tips and Deals
Wondering if anyone can shed some light on a problem I'm having. My wife is a school teacher and one of her students put together a couple of music files as a part of his final project for the year. He e-mailed them to us as an attachment. He uses Windows, but said a friend of his did them (not sure what that means) on a Mac, he thought the files came out of iTunes. Anyway, nothing I have seems tby celliott - Tips and Deals
I'm using aparently a little known utility that I like a lot called Ardiem. I have a MDD with two drives. Ardiem puts an eject icon on the menu bar and allows you to choose which drive you want to open. But for me, a feature I like better. It also allows you to assign key strokes to eject the drives. Since I never use the page up or page down keys, I assigned page up on my keyboard to eject the uby celliott - Tips and Deals
Well, yep, to answer your question, it looks like Apple is getting out of the iBook business- the new one is likely going to be called the MacBook. Maybe I should have used the term (it was probably in my head but didn't come out when I hit the keys) "latest", but I think last works too. Also, if we're putting it on a time continuum, technically it is the last iBook made by Apple, and iby celliott - Tips and Deals
What it means is that I bought a used iBook- I've identified it as the 12" 1.33Ghz model, the latest model produced by Apple (likely the last since the next version is Intel and probably called MacBook). Since it's used, I said it has been in use since around Aug. or Sept. I really didn't think it was that confusing. Thanks for the input. It's not ink.by celliott - Tips and Deals
I just bought a used but under warranty 12" iBook 1.33Ghz. It's the last model still produced by Apple, it's been in use since Aug or Sept. Anyway, two questions: 1- There is a bluish cast discoloration on the wrist pad areas, the clicker button and several keys, mainly the A, S & D keys. Is this from normal wear, or has something gotten to the plastic? Anone else notice this typeby celliott - Tips and Deals
I've found iPhoto to do a great job in putting together slide shows. In PP you will have to individually frop the pictures onto a page I beleive as well as resize them. Why not make your title slides in PP and export them as jpegs. Bring them into iPhoto where you can drop them into their approriate spots and then let iPhoto do the rest of the work. You can put them into iDVD, export as an iMovieby celliott - Tips and Deals
Can someone tell me why it's there? Mine now reads: Welcome back, celliott! Since your last visit, 19771 new messages have been posted! My last visit was about an hour ago. There is no way there have been 19771 new messages posted since that time, especially this time of night (err, morning). What is it supposed to indicate, and is there something wrong with it?by celliott - Tips and Deals
It is Coke and Coffee mixed as I understand it from my sons. They really like it. I haven't touched it.by celliott - Tips and Deals
All the way from France. Came in a 4 pak, 25 centiliter cans (regular cans in France are 33CL.by celliott - Tips and Deals
I'm trying to post a picture of the French can. I'm new to this forum- so how do I include a picture?by celliott - Tips and Deals
My high school son was in France for two weeks in March. Brought back some cans with him. He and my other son said they loved it. Can't find it anywhere here yet in central Illinois.by celliott - Tips and Deals
I believe it's a new feature added to the latest Default Folder Default Folder X - 2.5b1 according the the update description.by celliott - Tips and Deals
I bought a ministack 2 for an external drive for my son's iBook. I liked it well enough that I wanted one, but really didn't need the side mounted port, so I bought one of the clearance v. 1 models. The V2 shuts down and powers up with my son's iBook. Also when the iBook is put to sleep the V2 sleeps- ie, the drive stops spinning and the blue light goes out completely. On my V1- I have theby celliott - Tips and Deals
