Yes the lid can be put on stove . I have an ancient cast iron pan that is enameled al over . If you watch test kitchen and see their dutch ovens they use they are not cast iron more like a stock pot but heavier .by srf1957 - Tips and Deals

I have only been stung by a bald faced hornet once my life . I was about 5 years old and crawled thru a culvert that had a nest at the end of it . I have been stung by regular west coast yellow jackets at least twice a year .Hornets unless you are disturbing the nest are actually not that agressive .
