Usually develops over decades but once it gets critically tight it needs to be fixed. Symptoms that are harbingers of disaster are chest pain, congestive heart failure and passing out. I don’t know the current treatment but back when I was practicing replacement with an artificial valve was usually needed. Good luck Johnby dad@home - Tips and Deals

My understanding is that it refers to the marriage of the various flavors in the soup and is not a traditional wedding day food. BTW it is one of my favorite soups and not hard to make if you use commercially made meatballs and sausage.by dad@home - Tips and Deals
QuotePeterW What makes you think EVs aren’t powered by coal? Ha…ha……….ha When people accuse me of powering my Tesla with coal I explain that here in the Northwest we power our electric cars with dead bald eagles and endangered salmon.by dad@home - Tips and Deals
I actually experienced more road rage stuff 10 years ago when I drove a Prius; being cut off, brake checks, being flipped off and cursed at. Since I got my Tesla in 2015 I’ve experienced a couple of nasty episodes such as coal rolling but it’s been rare. The lack of overt hostility is curious to me since I do live in the redest part of red state Idaho. I joke that they check you at the bordby dad@home - Tips and Deals
Slow wake up from major surgery is the norm for us in the “no longer spring chickens” group. After having your neck turned into a bamboo stick it’s probably better to wake up slow and comfortable. The pseudocholinesterase deficiency does not affect wake up. It causes weakness ONLY if succinylcholine is used to relax your muscles. Easily avoided. I haven’t given any sux in years.by dad@home - Tips and Deals

Hi all, I've been using the Mail program included in the MacOS for over 10 years and now I am having a strange problem. Receiving mail and managing folders is working fine but when I try to send a new or reply message the screen flashes multiple times between the main mail window and the new message and the message never makes it to the outbox. All great advice...thank you. First attempt to download and install failed and may have been due to having only 2Gb of RAM. I have 16 Gb upgrade coming from OWC and I’ll try again once installed Thanks againby dad@home - Tips and Deals
Hi everyone, I’ve been in lurker mode for some years but now I’ve got a nut I can’t crack. Mid 2011 mini on macOS 10.7.5 was at our vacation home with no internet access since new and used only as a media server. Recently I set up a Starlink satellite receiver and Huzzah we have access to the world! App Store won’t give me any options to upgrade the OS so that modern browsers andby dad@home - Tips and Deals

QuoteSarcany Don't be an idiot. Most vehicles are on a 4-6 year upgrade cycle with major new features and design changes introduced periodically. These features/changes are usually introduced at car shows and reviewers get to test-drive the vehicles months in advance of sales to consumers to allow car shoppers to make intelligent informed choices. Tesla introduced the Model S in 2012 and haby dad@home - Tips and Deals
QuoteSarcany ......and they have no upgrade cycle in place for older models that are starting to look a little long-in-the-tooth ...... Wait ....What! You mean other car makers offer upgrades? All these years with my Fords I’ve missed out. On the other hand my Tesla gets OTA updates to its firmware every 2-4 weeks. New features show up and software bugs disappear.by dad@home - Tips and Deals
So maybe i’ve drunk the kool-aid but the author isn’t wrong. Four years ago I purchased a Model S85D and expected from all the news (Fake News?) that everything would go wrong.....but almost nothing has! 109,000 miles with no major breakdowns. I’ve had it in to be serviced twice (no oil changes needed ever) and once because a screw came loose on an arm rest. Motor Trend and the oby dad@home - Tips and Deals
Real world example: I have had a Tesla Model S85D for 4 years and have driven 103,000 miles. The car’s consumption has been 308Wh/mile (the car keeps track). Total consumption over 4 years is 103,000 x 308 = 31,724,000 Wh or 31,724kWh. I get my power from Avista who charges a flat rate of just under 10 cents per kWh. So 31,724 kWh x 0.1$/kWh = $3172 for 4 years and 103,000 milesby dad@home - Tips and Deals
The speculation on Tesla Motors Club forums is that the "real" reason that Elon bought Maxwell is an offshoot technology of their ultracapacitor work. Apparently they have developed an dry electrolyte that could enable Li batteries to have increased energy density, longer life and reduced cost of manufacturing.....Nice! edit: found a link to a maxwell paper explaining the techby dad@home - Tips and Deals
It's an electrostatic air filter that is probably cleanable. Be careful not to damage the wires that go from one end to the other inside. They are fragile. I've had honeywell brand electrostatic air filters and the cleaning procedure is to immerse in a tub of water with a simple detergent and gently agitate. Then rinse with a stream of water to remove the rest of the dirt and residual deteby dad@home - Tips and Deals
Metal roofs are more fire resistant and more durable with the exception of falling debris. If she has nearby trees that can shed branches the metal roof may get punctured which may lead to an unsightly patch. The operating rooms of Sacred Heart Medical Center here in Spokane are partially underground and built on the side of a hill. Also I think most modern hospitals are built like forts with thick cement walls. ATT reception was non existent until repeaters were place in the ceilings in 2010. In Peru in 1996 people angry at a bad forecast lynched their local TV meteorologist. QuoteEver had a bad hair day because of a poor weather forecast? Quotepdq Naw. Really no sweat. The numbing of the overlying skin can sting a tiny bit, as it can for an instant when the needle first enters the space containing the spinal fluid. They actually do the tap at a level of the spine below where there is actual spinal cord (at that level, it's divided into a bunch of separate nerves, which they wouldn't hit with their needle). Quotesamintx what is the cost of this Tesla? really expensive aren't they? It wasn’t cheap. My Model S with AWD, bigger battery, winter package and tech package (autopilot, radar cruise control, etc) was $91,000. Less the tax credit it was $83,500. Johnby dad@home - Tips and Deals
I purchased a Model S 85D (85kW battery, dual motors (AWD)) 3 years ago. 78,000 and no issues, no oil changes, no warning codes just competent, shockingly fast great handling fun. At 11 cents per kWh the electricity is less than half the cost of gas. The Model 3 is supposed to handle even better and get higher mileage (Wh/mi)! This is such a great car that once I start talking about it peopby dad@home - Tips and Deals
Laurence Kotlikoff an economist at Boston College makes a strong case for waiting to start collecting Social Security. He argues that taking benefits early (age 62), while popular, severely limits how much you will eventually get. Retiring at "Full" retirement age (age 66 + and getting later) is much better but that waiting until 70 will maximizes what you get. The problem isby dad@home - Tips and Deals
