Quotewurm That was good, and something I hadn't seen before. Sadder yet is that it was from SIX YEARS AGO. The more things change the more they stay the same. He has several good Drumpf segments over the past many years... all worth a watch.by jdc - 'Friendly' Political Ranting

QuoteAllGold Do you know what a Pontiac Vibe is? The last model year it was produced is 2010. That should give you an idea of my budget. LOL, yeah, toyota Matrix. Have changed the brakes on several. =) We must have all just passed right over that. Of course, that means we all have to research how much they are.by jdc - Tips and Deals
And yet, as far as I can read in the article, its still going forward.by jdc - Tips and Deals
Gravity, or lack there of, is a b.by jdc - Tips and Deals
No one is telling him anything cause we still don’t know is budget or use. I’d hope any car that has 15k has no issues. Despite the stereotypical thought— Bmws are very reliable. Some more than others. Just like any make/model. And yes, my father owns a handful of repair shops in So Cal … he was a die hard Chevy guy until he bought his first Honda. ;)by jdc - Tips and Deals
Quotechopper I struggle to think $15,000 is a budget for used car. You can buy a brand new Nissan Sentra with a warranty and all kinds of safety stuff for around $20k. You can get a Versa for $16k The struggle is no different than the fact that a 6" turkey sandwich at jimmie johns is $11. perhaps. They are junk, and the car voted least to "buy again" by owners. And 20Kby jdc - Tips and Deals
Quoteanonymouse1 Maybe run it through one of the AI programs that increase the resolution, first? Agreed. Try Upscayl.by jdc - Tips and Deals
Quoteanonymouse1 What's the use? What's the budget? ' this. No idea how to make even a guess without it. I wanted to spend 10K on my daughter's first car... and quickly found that anything 10K also came with 100K+ miles. So bumped to 15K... and a much larger selection became available.by jdc - Tips and Deals
I get it, trying to justify it the same way. I already have 3 2 TB sticks... so one more + case = cheap!!! Only $350 or so... =) Regardless of the fact that 2 of my 2 TB NVMes cost $200 each (back in the day) + $150 dual bay case... so already into it $550. So my "new" total outlay will be $600 in sticks + $250 case = $850 for 8 TB. Plus $150 for the 2 bay case I have now, anby jdc - Tips and Deals
So the math is 3 4tb @ $225-250 + OWC case = $1000 If you have scratch, sure. I’d just go ahead and get 4 sticks…, since everyone is predicting SSD prices going way up. I commented a few days ago how my 2tb crucial P3 is now up $25 from when I bought it a couple of weeks ago… so $100 more for 4. Still maybe overkill for storage? Have you considered some fast spiny drives in a RAby jdc - Tips and Deals
Quotejonny 8GB ram? Pass. More than adequate for many many users. 3 base M1s in our house. 2 MBAs, one college freshman, other HS junior, and wife WFH on a mini, dual screens, VPN to work PC, word, excel, Zoom, web, etc. They all zip along not a care in the world.by jdc - Tips and Deals
Base M2 has been $500 off and on... mostly on... since day 1. $676 is $3 cheaper than a refurb, so not $100 cheaper than buying from apple. Refrubs, like this deal, come and go. Refurb 16/512 is $879.by jdc - Tips and Deals
QuoteRobert M jdc, I've yet to find TM as reliable as cloning and one of the key factors is Migration Assistant. I have to use it on Machines running newer flavors of the OS and it's still to a degree hit or miss. If Steve is running an OS that allows for proper cloning (Caalina or older), I'd choose CCC over Migration Assistant in conjunction with a Time MAchine backup every time. That and I'mby jdc - Tips and Deals
Hes already got a drive. Nothing wrong with TM, been successful many many many times for me and my clients.by jdc - Tips and Deals
Quotemacphanatic I was thinking doing JBOD. One NVME for photos, one for music and one for video. Doubt that I'll be accessing all three at once. Combined, these libraries exceed 4TB, so one NVME isn't an option. Seems like bandwidth overkill for storage of photos music and some videos? If you are gonna spend the extra on a case designed to give you 25 GB/s, why hanicap it by doing JBOD? Eaby jdc - Tips and Deals
Don't partition, unnecessary. TM is its own self contained folder. Just run it and be done. Its gonna take some some time with that slow portable drive...by jdc - Tips and Deals
QuoteGareth Quotejdc pretty sure one caveat -- to get fast speeds, you need multiple NVMes in a RAID. Yup, if you're going to use 4 drives in a RAID 0, you'll get max speed. Anything less, and the speeds will be slower as each drive only gets 1/4 of the PCIe lanes, so individual drive speed is limited. (5. Maximum single drive performance is 817 MB/s Reads and 711MB/s Writes due to the bandby jdc - Tips and Deals
Quotedatbeme No, but I was wondering if it was worth getting this at $149 ($50 more than the standard version of the OWC Drive Dock). I've used a Voyager USB 3 dock for many years, but I finallly narrowed it down as the source of many unexplained crashes with my M2MBP. I just picked up the standard OWC dock earlier this week (already pricey at $99), and all my issues have disappeared. Sincby jdc - Tips and Deals
I have been considering it. Currently running a Sabrent dual bay Thunderbolt enclosure, and technically its totally fine. 4 TB RAID 0, getting about 2500 MB/s RW. No fan. However, with my 2020 iMac, with only 2 TBolt ports, I need to use a Plugable display port hub to run a 3rd screen I'm trying to track down why my fans spin up crazy often, and every time I pretty much always, or if I walkby jdc - Tips and Deals
Quoterich in distress Tough crowd!! I’ll take any good music I can find, and Billy Joel is one of the inventors of good music in my personal world. I also find interesting what will he consider worthy of his name nowadays. It may suck, but I won’t bet against him. sure. but why *17* years later?by jdc - Tips and Deals

No problem here. I did fire it up yesterday for a vineo file after not using it for a few months, and it seems "slower"? Stalled after "grab this clip".... and then it was done, no progress bar. Im on 3.9.7, and I paid for it.by jdc - Tips and Deals
thanks tried googling her name, found one video from years ? ago, and none of the players seemed taller/better than the others in the 2? minute clipby jdc - Tips and Deals
Maybe it's not the popular choice... but If your Mac is working perfectly fine.. get your kids the mini. VMFusion is the killer. base m2 mini + 27" 1080p screen = $600. Maybe less if you can find a used M1 mini. If you can get around Fusion... and want a 16/1TB mini, should watch for a refurb. About $250 less than new. However, you are prob gonna find its lack of ports limiting, evenby jdc - Tips and Deals
