I 2nd Macrium Reflect! I have used their free version to clone larger hdd to smaller ssd. Once it's done, you may have to open Disk Management and reclaim unused space on the ssd.by rouderon - Tips and Deals
Thanks for all the input! Swappa was the winner (well, I'll really know if/when the MBP arrives ) Also, free shipping and no tax made the deal sweeter (my state tax is almost 10%).by rouderon - Tips and Deals
Also, if I purchase from eBay, they offer 1 yr of square trade for $42. Is this really worth it?by rouderon - Tips and Deals
Yeah, I've been perusing eBay the last couple days and there are some just over $300, but not maxed out MBPs. Also, most around or below that price point have a lot of scarring. I don't mind a little scratching here/there or the occasional small dent, but definitely not interested in one that looks like absolute garbage Also, as long as it works without issue, they don't have to include a hdd aby rouderon - Tips and Deals
Bill - are you parting with any of those spares? If so, pm meby rouderon - Tips and Deals
Would like to be in the +/- $300 range. Want either i5 or i7 processor (no C2D) and prefer 8gb ram. I do have some 4gb chips, so I could upgrade it myself as long as memory is not soldered to the board (which it's not in the 2012s). Also, unless it comes with an SSD (which, for that range I'm not expecting one), I would put my own 500gb in. Not afraid of computer work at all - once baked a mb inby rouderon - Tips and Deals
I'm in the market for a MBP. This is the last of the user-serviceable MPBs, correct? Also, any issues (as a whole) with them that I should look out for?by rouderon - Tips and Deals
Thanks for the tip, DavidS! After over a decade with AT&T I'm seriously looking to switch carriers due to coverage in the area I now live.by rouderon - Tips and Deals
AT&T fiber 1k/1k - $50 w/no contract (includes HBO Max). I do have them for my cell service, which is how I got the low rate. It goes to $60 after a year, which is still over $20 less than my previous provider at 300/20.by rouderon - Tips and Deals
Quoteand the speeds I was getting were definitely worse than for my MBP So, you're saying the phone got worse speeds than the MP, correct? That's very strange. You turned off cellular data for the Speedtest app (I'm assuming you installed that one)? You could also try physically moving the MP closer to your wireless AP and test it temporarily. But, given the issues I've experienced with myby rouderon - Tips and Deals
Can you run a speed test (like Speedtest.net) from your phone (on the same network as your MP) while you're next to your MP, and then run it from your MP and compare? If you're getting much lower speeds on your MP than your phone, then it's most likely an issue with the MP/Airport card. Also, is this a new issue, or has your MP always had this issue?by rouderon - Tips and Deals
I have the same issues with my 2009 MP (and we have great internet here - 300 down/20 up). I bought a USB wifi adapter and turned off the internal wifi. I bought this one for my MP, and this one (which is currently unavailable) for my 2012 Mac Mini.by rouderon - Tips and Deals
You want to go to Display in the Control Panel (or you may be able to right-click the desktop on Win 10 and choose Displays). Choose 'Change Appearance of Your Displays' and you should see two monitors. Click Identify to make sure what monitor you need to move, and then arrange it in the window to match where it sits in relation to your main monitor. Here's an example for doing this on Windows 10by rouderon - Tips and Deals
Thanks! Brickseek showed 'limited stock' for my local Walmart. Been eyeing these for a while now, but not, imho, worth $150-300 they've been advertised for. At $50 this is a good deal (plus, I believe you can convert this into a mame cabinet?). Anyway, I called and they were in stock - woot!by rouderon - Tips and Deals
We're about to be in the market for gas range, as well as a refrigerator and dishwasher. I'll definitely be following this thread My only concern is those who post how they have had great success over the last 10-20 years with X-brand (heck, even 5 years). So much has changed over the last few years in that industry. I started researching appliances last year and, from what I see, the new appby rouderon - Tips and Deals
FWIW, I put dosdude1's Mojave on my old 24" 2008 iMac and was amazed to find it works extremely well. I'll admit I don't use it for an every day computer - I actually just wanted to see if/how it would work on there. I also installed his version of Mojave on a 2009 Mac Mini we have hooked up to our living room TV. I did this yesterday so we could use a Wyzecam as a webcam (for FaceTime anby rouderon - Tips and Deals
Explain this nonsense: I have a friend who got hired on as a driver last fall. Amz is implementing their own GPS and working out the kinks (ex.: makes delivery at house x, then GPS takes him to house y the next street over, then back to the house beside house x). Even with the crazy GPS issues, this location was super efficient. Anyway, the location he was working for was one of the fastesby rouderon - Tips and Deals
My mother-in-law occasionally shops at a local consignment store and mails us packages with some of the good items she finds. These same labels are almost always on everything from there.by rouderon - Tips and Deals
Right, those were the prime time shows on those networks during that period, but do you specifically remember the show you were watching before your bathroom break?by rouderon - Tips and Deals
How about start with what show you were watching right before the Bond-esque them started. Also, what network? If you can figure those two things out maybe you can find what show followed the one you did watch?by rouderon - Tips and Deals
This happened to me out of the blue after an update 3 or 4 years ago and has followed me on every iPhone ever since. I’ve tried all the ‘tricks’ and even replaced batteries. My conclusion is that something is awry with my iCloud account (do a search for ‘iCloud causing battery drain’). Maybe someday I’ll take time to log out from it for a day to see if my theory is correct. Until thenby rouderon - Tips and Deals
This has always been a winner for me: Or, if drive A is equal to or smaller than drive B (the one you're cloning to), then something similar to this is a great option (which I see is no longer available): I have used mine a handful of times since buying it a couple years ago, and it's worked seamlessly.by rouderon - Tips and Deals
Thanks for the tip! Was this on Win 10? I had this issue last month when trying to use my work iPhone as a hotspot on my work Win 10 computer (also on a VPN), and it was constantly dropping. I will have to try this the next time I'm working remotely!by rouderon - Tips and Deals
I *think I did this a few years ago. Check out WinClone:by rouderon - Tips and Deals
Is it that you feel you may burn yourself? We’ve had ours a couple years and I haven’t had need for skin grafts (yet)by rouderon - Tips and Deals
We have a local coffee shop that does their own nitro coffee (and was doing it well before S****ucks) I have tried the whipped cream canister, but it always comes out as mostly froth - unless we depressurize it. I made the mistake of buying the larger canister, so once it is depressurized it has to be consumed immediately. Also, if you're not aware, make sure to use a little sugar so the nitroby rouderon - Tips and Deals
Cool! I actually ran a speed test and it's getting 20 down, so that's better than what I thought it was getting! Right now it's doing the one job it needs to do: open/close my garage door. If I ever feel the need for more speed I may check out the gigabit powerline adapters. Heck, maybe this spring I'll just run a dedicated line out there. That's #158 on the listby rouderon - Tips and Deals
Out of curiosity, what speeds are you getting with them (and what is your ISP plan speed)? I have a Ubiquiti setup with 3 AC APs in my house, but was not getting a consistent signal to my garage. All I needed internet access for there is for a MyQ garage opener. Didn’t want to run a line out just for that, so I had a couple 5-ish year old powerline adapters and another AP. They meet the neeby rouderon - Tips and Deals
