Stephen Dedalus, Joyce's proxy and main character in the book, fights back against bullies, and he does the same against the priest who delivers this sermon, rejecting the fear-based bullying. It's a great novel, and this is a key moment in Stephen's maturation.

Capital One sold their old stock trading DRIP service to E-Trade. BTW, I'm having no problems accessing the info on E-Trade, though I'm not sure ultimately that I'll stay with them.

When my son was away at college and living in Jersey City, it was the rule rather than the exception that packages went missing and never showed up. Reading online reviews of the local P.O. suggested that this was standard practice. I'm not sure if it was larcenous deliverers/local sorters or deadbeats in his apartment complex, but after awhile we gave up sending care packages. Now he's in Brookl

I disagree. If you read the WP and NYT before the election, there was plenty there that should have disqualified Trump. In France I usually locate the closest Orange Telecom store to my hotel/apartment, on Google Maps. It's usually about 20 bucks for enough data to last me a week (and I go through a good bit), along with a few phone calls. They install the SIM and do all the set up for me. There are some dual-country plans, but my guess is you'll need separate for Italy (and it'll probably be a few euros cheaper)

I got it in December and have seen over a dozen movies without a hitch. I too worried about the company going belly up, but figured buying it through Costco was an added layer of protection. I love that our local Regals also give us Regal points when using it, so I'll have enough points for free popcorn for quite awhile.

Verizon phones should already be unlocked. My Verizon iPhone 6 is. I always stop at Heathrow at the local SIM dealer and have them drop a SIM in for me, and I'm good to go. Just did this in Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

I love my Prius Prime. It gets about 26 miles on a charge, and since my commute is 32 miles a day, I only fill up once every five weeks. If my work ever installs the chargers they've been promising, I'll be damn near gas-less.

At work IT has installed Sophos on our Macs. It's awful--often it seems to slow the system to a crawl when updating, frequently forcing a restart. Otherwise, it has never found anything suspicious.

It isn't currently like you describe Buzz. You have to spend 25K to meet the spend retirement, AND still fly 125k miles or fly 125 segments. Both must be satisfied. If you're a Diamond, your butt's been plenty numb, even in first (posted on Gogo in-air wifi, as I'm trying to make it once again to Platinum).

Last year I did a good deal of photography in the secondary tents and stages with a rather large lens and wasn't hassled. There was another guy with tripod (and no ID badge) who went and stood just in front of center stage and shot photos, which was annoying to everyone else, and he wasn't hassled. YMMV.

I find that most airports now have a cell phone shop that will sell you a SIM and pop it in for you. Although the airports might be a few dollars more than what you find in city centers, you're more likely to find somebody who speaks English at the airport if not fluent in the local language. Plus you have the phone from immediately to call an Uber, call up Google Maps, ring your hotel, etc.
