I bought the LG Washtower. We like it a lot. No idea how it will last, but it works great, and my wife, who is vertically challenged, could not have used stacked washer and dryer.by Cary - Tips and Deals
There are 4 battery manufacturers in the US. Johnson and Interstate are 2 of them. All the other batteries (Die Hard, Duralast, etc.) are made by one of the 4. I would look at CCA capacity, price, warranty, ease of exercising warranty and price, and be less concerned with brand name.by Cary - Tips and Deals

If it were mine, I'd take it down to the studs. One thing to consider - the mastic or the brick or the backer may contain asbestos.. Before doing anything, I'd figure out how to test, and then decide if it's worth screwing with...by Cary - Tips and Deals

I believe that DC motors in ceiling fans are a recent innovation - I could be wrong. Having said that, I’m not sure that it makes a difference. If there are 3 wires going into the fan(usually white, black and blue (power to the light), you can use an “aftermarket” remote/receiver.by Cary - Tips and Deals
What type of windows are they? Casements? Sliders? I second calling Andersen. At the least, they can help identify the correct parts…by Cary - Tips and Deals
Why don’t you just buy a new remote/controller setup. HD and Lowe’s sell them… Like this: Universal fan remoteby Cary - Tips and Deals
I have a Dewalt 12” non-sliding compound miter saw. Very nice machine. If I were to buy today, I’d look hard at the Bosch slider. It doesn’t have sliding rails - it has hinged arms that allow the back and forth motion while being able to stay close to the wall. Having said that, for the tasks you mentioned, I’d use a circular saw with a carpenters square to keep the cuts straight. A coby Cary - Tips and Deals
Call the dig safe people - usually 1-800-dig-safe. They’ll survey and verify no utility lines run underground there. If you don’t call, and dig, and hit utilities, you are liable. I’d probably rent a small jack hammer to get through the upper layers…by Cary - Tips and Deals
Carlos Jax, I don’t think the totaling of a car due to salt water immersion is the point. Rather, with an EV, salt water immersion can cause an electrical fire, which is hard to extinguish.. Also, I think you are glossing over the additional challenges (and costs) of extinguishing lithium ion battery fires, with attendant costs of training and equipment/materials for every fire departmentby Cary - Tips and Deals
Carlos Jax: Some salient points from the link posted: While the report didn’t differentiate between electric and ICE vehicles, it did note that the vast majority (77 percent) of vehicle fires resulting from electrical or mechanical malfunctions (which combined were the leading casual factor in 88 percent of highway vehicle fires) involved model years from 2007 or earlier. In other words,by Cary - Tips and Deals
QuoteCarnos Jax Cary, I decided to do a quick google, so take the hastiness of the search with a grain of salt. But googling "rate of ice fires" (without quotes) yielded the following as the first result, and it seemed there were many more results echoing the same thing: . QuoteAccording to one analysis of U.S. government data, EV fires appear to occur less frequently than ICEby Cary - Tips and Deals
QuoteCarnos Jax And I’m not sure why you don’t think mechanical failures that can lead to vehicle fires don’t warrant a recall? I think that mechanical failures that can lead to fires may warrant a recall. I was speaking about overheating…by Cary - Tips and Deals
QuoteCarnos Jax But an ICE car is MUCH more likely to catch fire than an EV, thereby consuming much more of the fire department’s time (thus taking considerably more time away from their ability to attend to other calls). Either way, an overheating situation in both types of vehicles are an issue serious enough to warrant a recall. I don’t understand your position. Is overheating bad foby Cary - Tips and Deals

I'm a big fan of Milwaukee M12 - congrats on a great purchase. Don't love Milwaukee bits as much - I find Dewalt bits last longer. Milwaukee drill bits are superior to Dewalt, IMHO...by Cary - Tips and Deals
I recommend the LG C3 (or C2, if there are any deals left). I don’t use the LG remote or interface - I have Roku boxes for that. The TV is basically a monitor…by Cary - Tips and Deals

I am a transmission shop owner. I would not buy a Nissan with a CVT. Lease? Sure, why not. Just make sure the lease term is covered by the warranty. Or, get a good quality extended warranty. I do about 10-15 Nissan CVT jobs per month. I see Nissans with as little as 45k miles needing rebuilds.by Cary - Tips and Deals
What is the gate valve made of? What type of pipe/fittings are used to reduce down to the pvc?by Cary - Tips and Deals
I don’t understand what your goal is. Are you trying to reduce handling responsiveness? Higher profile tires generally have worse handling, while improving ride quality. I agree with prior comments - you have to make sure 15” wheels will clear the brakes, and, Tire Rack is a great resource.by Cary - Tips and Deals
I also had the Bosch 12v and switched to Milwaukee. Both are good tools, but the Milwaukee has many more 12v tools in the line.by Cary - Tips and Deals
Robert, my method with Verizon is to eschew their modem/router hardware completely. They can and will turn on the Ethernet port on the ONT upon request, allowing the use of whatever networking system that you want, without dealing with their equipment.by Cary - Tips and Deals
My drive home from Queens to Long Island took over 2 hours. Weather wasn’t terrible, a little flooding. A lot of people who don’t know how to drive, or care about anyone else on the road.by Cary - Tips and Deals
Along the lines of above: I would run ethernet between floors, AND get a tri-band mesh system. (Tri-band has an extra 5GHz channel for backhaul). My ASUS mesh allows either wired or wireless backhaul (connection between the nodes). If you can use ethernet for backhaul, you'll get more usable bandwidth (that 3rd band) for end devices. If you can't run ethernet, get a tri-band mesh system anyby Cary - Tips and Deals
If it's an AWD vehicle, make sure that the rolling diameter difference between the new tire and that of it's mate on the same axle is 1/4" or less. More than than can cause damage to the transfer case...by Cary - Tips and Deals

I'd be very worried about water infiltration that may take a while to show up, and could cause mold, wood rot, etc. I'd either tile over backer board with correct under tile surface prep materials (like Schluter), use a fiberglass surround, or use a quartz or solid surface material.by Cary - Tips and Deals
