Quotegadje My iPhone won’t connect though, it says it cannot establish a secure connection. I wonder if they are still in business. I think it’s been a while since I bought my copy. Works on my computer. Still have 'free trials'—mine probably was one.by mrlynn - Tips and Deals
QuoteJoeH Quotemrlynn Quotebtfc When was the last time you ran Disk Utility on the drive(s) that you are backing up from? Not lately, but SMART says "Passed." The SMART status in Disk Utility is next to worthless. By the time it reports anything other than "PASSED" the drive is usually close to failing completely. Quotehal hey, what about the power supply to these backups? If there isn't enough power, there might be enough to 'see' the drive, but not do anything with it. ?? It occurred to me that there might be a problem with the PS or the USB cable, so I substituted ones I had never used from the second drive. No change. But, as I said, drive 'b' seems to have gotten itself together and is running.by mrlynn - Tips and Deals
Quoteanonymouse1 FYI, once I realized that in 8 years I had never once used TN’s ability to retire moved a deleted file (from an earlier version), and facing the occasional need to rebuild or toss the entire YM backup, I just switched to SuperDuper. Much happier now. Assume 'TN' and 'YM' are secretly TM. I have used SuperDuper! for years to keep a clone of my internal drive. But when I upby mrlynn - Tips and Deals

UPDATE: After resting a while in the box, the 'b' drive seems to have got itself together and is now working. 'a' is still pooched, it seems. But clearly I should get two new drives. I figure maybe 8 or 10TB, as I'm doing a lot of 'digitization' of old analog tapes, and they take space. I suppose I could try copying the TM folder from 'b' to a new drive and see if it then works as a TM dby mrlynn - Tips and Deals
QuoteTiangou Quotemrlynn Now these drives are 5 years old... Should I assume these drives are toast and run over to Best Buy and pick up a couple of new ones Yes. Quotemrlynn how do I best carry over the TM backups from the b drive to the new ones? Don't bother. Just start new backups on your new SEAGATE drives. I have two 4TB Time-Machine drives, a and b, which I swap every so often (plan is about two weeks, but sometimes it's a month or so before I remember). Both are identical WD 'easystore' USB drives, which have been very reliable. Today TM reported that it could not access drive b, which was the one connected; last backup was yesterday. QuoteKen Sp. In CA, DMV tacks on an additional charge to the registration every year for "Road Taxes" $100-$175/year I over produce on my Solar, and "sell" the excess to PG&E. QuoteBuzz Dang, can't find anything online, but like 30 years ago there was The Old Ox bar/restaurant in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego. It had a massive ox (in a massive yoke) statue next to it that was occasionally turned/painted blue. Was gonna post a pic of the ox w/ an amusing comment, but can't find any pictures online, just a bunch of fond remembrances of beach babes, and bar food. Weby mrlynn - Tips and Deals
QuoteTheTominator If you have a rear-wheel drive vehicle, remember that the weight-distributing hitch lessens the weight on the drive wheels compared to not using the hitch so you won't be getting as much traction. Just a reminder if you think you'll be on slippery road conditions or off-road terrain where added traction is necessary. Thanks, Tom. No, not named 'Babe'. This is a Blue Ox 750 weight-distributing hitch for trailers (mainly travel trailers). Number Two Son Nathan bought a new hybrid camper to tow behind his Ford Transit van from a dealer in Wisconsin. It came with a Blue Ox hitch, but it turns out weight-distributing hitches are "not recommended" for Transits, reportedly because of the Transits' unibody constrby mrlynn - Tips and Deals

Quotedecay Safari's max is tied to the current OS installed. You can't go higher than High Sierra supports. That seems to be the consensus. I'll probably have to update the OS on my iMac, at least to Mojave. I'm wondering about trying it on an external HD. Quotefauch If it is just a warning you may be able to forge the user agent to make the website think it's a newer version. If that doesn't work you may need to go with a different browser. I wouldn't have a clue how to do this. Is it simple?by mrlynn - Tips and Deals
System Preferences on my High Sierra iMac does not include Software Update.by mrlynn - Tips and Deals
I am running High Sierra (10.13.6) on my mid-2015 27" iMac, and generally using Safari (13.1.2). Sometimes I am getting notices from websites when I log in saying my browser is out-of-date and not supported. Usually they still work, but on one forum (Escape Trailer Owners) it often crashes, saying there was a 'problem'. I would rather not update from High Sierra, as I have some old applby mrlynn - Tips and Deals
Thanks clay. Address 2 passes with an 8.1 score; Address 1 fails with 2.1 and 4.1 scores: all manner of problems, including SPF not valid for that address (suggested alternative SPF with a server address , but didn't copy it and fourth try triggered paywall). I gave my SX50 to another grandson when I bought my Panny FZ300; sometimes regret it, as the FZ's reach is much less (600mm vs 1,000mm), and the SX's closeups are easier, too. I didn't buy an SX60 because the reviews when it appeared said IQ was lower than the SX50. But it does have a better EVF. Do any of the SX cameras do GPS tagging? Grandson Sam is 14, participating in naturalist programs with adults, and using a program called iNaturalist to upload photos. QuoteGGD How did you download them? When I've downloaded using Image Capture it has retained the date taken as the creation date. Ah, I forgot to use Image Capture. I used Air Play. It was easy—and dumb. I'll try IC. Still, the question obtains. Is there any way to alter the sort-by date to date-taken, as there is in (though I hate to say it), Windows? /Mr Lynnby mrlynn - Tips and Deals
I'm adding photos downloaded from my wife's iPhone to a folder of photos I took with a real camera, so we can show them all together, in order, in a slide show. I use Graphic Converter to view and show photos. The Finder shows the correct Creation Date for the camera photos, but the iPhone photos show the Creation date as the date I downloaded them (today), not the date they were taken.
