QuoteJardster SO--- I beg to differ with those who say it's just a drop and run---- my service was great!! I think the point is that delivery is hit or miss. The TVs are shipped to the closest distribution center to where you live. I think the quality of your experience is dependent on the local delivery company. As I said earlier, the guy who delivered my TV was reluctantly willing to open thby cyclemax - Tips and Deals
QuoteAlphaDog I'm doing my usual "thing", which is basically over researching and over thinking! Some of us are capable of collecting information almost forever, maybe as an excuse to keep from making a decision? (I think there's somebody else here that does that, too.) All of those Samsungs are getting excellent reviews, so it can be hard for a person like me to finally settle on one.by cyclemax - Tips and Deals
QuoteAlphaDog How do you like your TV? I haven't been able to bring myself around to pulling the trigger yet, but I'm getting mighty close, especially after I was looking at one yesterday that was set up right next to the 630. The picture on the 550 was actually sharper, and they were getting the identical feed, which wasn't from a DVD player. I love it. The picture is absolutely incredible. Bby cyclemax - Tips and Deals
I bought the Samsung LN46A650 back before Christmas from Amazon. Racer X pretty much hit it on the head. My delivery was made by one guy in a van. He needed my help to bring it into the house and would have opened it and supposedly set it up but I declined. The box was in perfect condition and as it turns out so was the TV. He didn't seem very knowledgable about setting up a TV or very willing tby cyclemax - Tips and Deals
Quoteolnacl I have a USB2 card in my MDD and it sleeps as long as I detach accessories from the card before sleep. I can leave the cable plugged in, just unplug it from the accessory (as in the case of an external drive after dismounting) Inconvenient, but do-able if you really need USB-2.. That was my point. If you are using the drives for back-up you only plug them in when you need them andby cyclemax - Tips and Deals
You could always throw in a cheap USB2 card if you have a spare pci slot and then go with the cheaper USB drive.by cyclemax - Tips and Deals

Using that drive right now on my Intel iMac via firewire 400 with no problems. There is no power switch on the drive. It goes into a stand-by/sleep mode when you power off your Mac or otherwise terminate the interface connection, drawing about 5 watts of power.by cyclemax - Tips and Deals

To further clarify my post above, if you run on battery power and it only discharges to 95% or above, then you plug it back in, the battery won't charge. I don't know if this is the problem you are seeing but I have observed this behavior on my 2.4 MBP. I believe Apple has a document on this.by cyclemax - Tips and Deals
Let the battery drop below 90% charge. The battery won't charge if it is above 95%. I believe this is a safety feature to prevent constant charging of the battery.by cyclemax - Tips and Deals
A follow up to this thread: macresource.com I looked through the files on the computer and found a hardware reference which describes in great detail how to open the case and upgrade or replace just about everything, including the processor and mother board. Everything but the power supply. Nowhere in the documentation does it say anything about voiding the warranty, so I guess I'm good to goby cyclemax - Tips and Deals
My daughter has a new cheapy emachine desktop computer. I know, I know, the Yugo of the computer world, but the price was right for her needs. That being said, I was going to install a video card and a wireless card for her when I noticed that there is a sticker labeled "QA" on the case that you need to break to open it. Nowhere on the case nor the warranty sheet does it say that breakiby cyclemax - Tips and Deals
I don't know all the details of your situation, but I have a friend who re-married a rich doctor. Her then fourteen year old daughter got sucked into having her affection bought buy her step-dad. It didn't last very long. Turns out she hated the guy, but the allure of the new laptop, and big screen TV in her room was stronger than her dislike... to a point. Hang in there, she'll come back.by cyclemax - Tips and Deals
Quoteonthedownlow I've never been a huge fan of those cases...but you can pop off the base of those (two screws) so that you can lay it flat...or slim it up even more for the vertical. On the drive I got, the stand was optional. It also came with four rubber feet to lay it flat.by cyclemax - Tips and Deals
I just received the 1 TB version of this drive from Seagate as a warranty replacement for a 6 month old defective FreeAgent Pro drive. Brand new, not refurbished. It is definitely the newer model "Windows" only drive ( i.e. no Mac software). I didn't use the FreeAgent software anyway. It appears that Seagate no longer makes a triple interface model with a SATA port for the mac, so I gueby cyclemax - Tips and Deals
I have several items in my cart that I have watched over the past several months. One item in particular goes up and down by $30-$40. Some items fluctuate several times a day by just a few cents. It seems pretty random to me. There was one item that I wanted that I had looked at several times, but the price went up before I added it to my cart. I added it to my cart at the higher price, and theby cyclemax - Tips and Deals
I've noticed through this and other forums, that people seem to really love or hate Amazon.com. I personally have made many purchases there over the past few years (probably too many) big and small. I discovered last night that an item I had ordered for Christmas was defective, so I had to make my first return to Amazon. The online process for the return was painless. QuotePeterB I immediately noticed that Leopard on the MBP is blazingly fast in comparison to how Tiger was on the MB, but I didn't know if that was because of Leopard, because of the faster processor on the MBP, or both? When I upgraded from Tiger to Leopard on my Sawtooth, I didn't really notice much of a difference in speed.by cyclemax - Tips and Deals
QuotePeterB Anyone have an opinion as to whether a 1Ghz dual G4 will run Leopard decently? (I guess I'll find out!) I'm running Leopard on a Sawtooth Mac upgraded with a single 1.5 GHz G4 processor and 1.2 GB ram. Runs great.by cyclemax - Tips and Deals

AA batteries may have their shortcomings, but rechargeable NiMHs are dirt cheap. Even cheaper than most after-market proprietary batteries. I carry 2 or 3 sets with me and in a pinch, if your rechargeables are spent, you can always throw in some alkalines. I just bought the A590 Canon. It takes two AA batteries, and it is a comfortable size and fairly light. The reviews I've read say you shouldby cyclemax - Tips and Deals
