IMHO, it's been a question for almost a century; why can't the styling of the cars we buy look like those one-off, "concept" designs? Why must they always be toned down, diluted, homoginized to the point of looking like everything already available? These never made it to the dealership! Today's Rivian pickup design looks as different from this early "pickup"...
