Soliciting thoughts on replacing my 6 year old G4 15 inch Powerbook battery, which died suddenly at 99 cycles (not unusual it seems for the Apple replacement batteries sent out several years ago). The NewerTech batteries sold by our sponsor are probably very good, albeit high $$$. For half the price, others are available. Might one of those last 2-3 years? That may be all I need until I can afforby neophyte - Tips and Deals
Please don't paint all of us with the same brush, Jimmy. The "idiot" governer is a fiscal conservative who happens to suffer a similar womanizing affliction as Bill Clinton. Many of those "hillbillies" are qualified with enough skills to make Beemers in Greenville that upscale yuppies like to buy, and the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner that will be manufactured in North Charleston.by neophyte - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
So I note that many of us here enjoy cooking and experimenting with new dishes. Me, not so much. But my wife is an excellent cook and is also easing into using a Mac more and more. She asked me about storing her recipes on the computer and I'm not sure how to advise her. What do you use?by neophyte - Tips and Deals

VZW won't abandon CDMA for voice for several more years. VZW's LTE is for data only. And right now on 3G, I can talk and send/receive text messages at the same time on my Droid X. I just can't boot up the web browser while talking. VZW's LTE will use a GSM-like sim card, so talking and web surfing can be done simultaneously. And VZW's LTE will operate at 700MHz and so will penetrate into buildingby neophyte - Tips and Deals
>Most cell phones get their time from the service provider.< Unless you turn off network access. I still have my Blackberry Storm that I use as my alarm (I like the ringtone). Interestingly, without network access, it gains about a minute every week, so I turn on network access every few weeks to sync with the time server. And recharge it too. Without network access, the battery will lasby neophyte - Tips and Deals
>Did use master setting separately when formatting IDE drives, then went to CS when both drives installed in bracket.< IIRC, CS setting may not work. Did you try setting one as master and the other as slave? Or both to master on 2 separate IDE busses?by neophyte - Tips and Deals
Er, no. 3 per day times 365 days per year = , um, more than a 1000 per year. So is the shelf life at least a year?by neophyte - Tips and Deals
I have a Droid X too. App killers shouldn't really be used with software version 2.2. Instead, under settings>applications>running services, you can kill those apps that you recognize. Most are system services that you shouldn't kill. For example, I kill Skype since I don't use it. Also check settings>applications>development and be sure both USB debugging and Stay awake are UNchecby neophyte - Tips and Deals
Um, he didn't mention iPad sales to VerizonWireless? If not, analysts and speculators might think that means no iPhone on VZW for a while at least. So, as they say, buy on speculation, sell on (presumed) fact....by neophyte - Tips and Deals

VerizonWireless has allowed backdating when going to a higher minute plan for at least 2 years now. And to allow a change in plan without requiring an extension of your contracts. And Verizon was among the first cell phone companies to lower termination fees every month that you kept your service.by neophyte - Tips and Deals
The only VZW droid phone with Bing is the Samsung Fascinate. All the others use Google Search. Afaik, the only country in Europe with a CDMA network is Ukraine. All others use GSM. VZW's LTE network will use some sort of GSM technology, probably built-in, for data only. Voice will still be carried by CDMA.by neophyte - Tips and Deals

This is exactly the type of TV ad run by the dem and repub candidates for governor of South Carolina, at least in the Charleston area market. No ads about themselves, just ads that bash their opponent. Why is it that they expect me to vote AGAINST someone rather than FOR someone? Are they tacitly agreeing that I should vote for the "lesser of two evils"? Doesn't say much for their intelby neophyte - Tips and Deals

My local hhgregg is good compared to competitors Best Barf, Lowes, Home Depot, and Sears, for medium to large appliances. My hhgregg has a much larger selection of microwaves, refrigerators, freezers, washers, etc. Competitive prices too. I like to see before I buy, and they had both the freezer and microwave that met my needs and that had good reviews online. None of the other stores had them.by neophyte - Tips and Deals
You didn't say what OS version is on your Mac. Regardless, try Salling Media Sync (just Google it). Free to use, works on OS10.4.11 and up. I use it with 10.4.11 and my Droid X. You may have to reboot after you first install it. It puts an icon up in the top right of the menu bar when you use it.by neophyte - Tips and Deals
You made the following statements in your two posts: "The builder said the air will have nowhere to go in the vanity cabinet..." "My big concern is that in the master, there is about a half-inch or so of gap where the subfloor meets the wall -- on three walls." These are contradictory. And unless the duct from underneath is sealed to the subfloor, the airflow will creby neophyte - Tips and Deals

Grateful- I hear ya. VZW doesn't carry any "candy bar" phones currently. The closest is a slider, shaped like your Env 2, which you would slide open for access to the keyboard. The LG Cosmos and the Samsung Intensity II are both sliders with number keys on the outside like yours, and neither requires a data package. By locked, do you mean the screen required you to activate the phone before you could see any other screens? If so, the secret is to press near each of the four corners, going around clockwise starting with the top left corner.
