Yes they work. Let's say you get mud on your shoes. Do you get them cleaner with a dry paper towel, or a hose? My advice is, spend the money and get a nice bidet. My BioBidet has a heated seat, heated water, heated air dryer, and can be aimed. It came with the house, but I'd buy it again.

The main difference between computer to computer and computer to amplified auditorium is the computers don't amplify the local speaker back as you've pointed out, hence the need for special measures. If your mixer is digital and has a gate on it, you could also use that to clean it up.

Have the person on zoom make sure to use headphones, just to optimize quality there. And make sure to use a dynamic cardioid mic (you probably are, like a SM58) in the auditorium, and make sure it's not too close to the PA speakers and they are in the null of the mic. You can get pretty good quality just recording with your iPhone and its built-in mic. Just make sure you're about 6" away. And be mindful of the acoustics of where you're recording - a dead space is best. Often a walk-in closet or similar works great. If you need to do real editing, I'd use Audacity on a computer.

I'm interested to see if gas tankless water heaters (which as I understand it is the way to go, electric just doesn't have the capacity) will be affected by the push to get away from gas heating as California is pushing to do. Perhaps there will be new improved electric tankless that can match gas.

I don't know what market you're in, but I'd start by budgeting $1k. That should give you plenty of room to work with. I'd see if your audio vendor is able to provide such a service. A single camera feeding to youtube is not what I'd call high-stress, but to each their own.

You have all the equipment and the infrastructure, but not someone to run it? Does anyone know how to run it? I would not want to come to an event and be forced to use someone else's equipment which may or may not work as needed and which I may or may not know how to use. As a service provider I would not guarantee quality using someone else's gear. Also, any pricing would likely vary great

I'd first check the surrounds of the speaker cones and make sure everything is physically intact. If the surrounds have deteriorated, the excursion during low frequencies is likely to cause distortion/crackly sounds.

I have one on our master bath and agree with the general sentiment above, in that it's nice but ours is a 60 year old house and it's rather noisy if one wants to get up and take care of business when the other is still sleeping. I haven't yet tried to figure out what it would take to maintain/improve it.
