No. The ability to handle large (>128GB) drives has nothing to do with firmware but is a hardware issue. It also has nothing to do with the Oxford 911 chipset. There's no way to modify a case that cannot handle large drives to do so. Chuck it and move on.

With the Shuffle, it's not an option. iTunes does the conversion whether you want it to or not.

Our hosts here sell an Asus unit that works with OSX 10.3 or 10.4. I'm using one of them currently on a RevD iMac and it functions well. I think they charge about $35 for it or about half of what an Airport card costs these days.

Throttled or not, the $5.99 Netflix plan is limited to 2 rentals a month. It doesn't matter how fast you send them back or they send them out; you cannot get more than 2 movies per month. If you want more, the $9.99 plan allows "unlimited" rentals.

Apple's DVD-RAM drive is not capable of burning anything but DVD-RAM disks. It's as close to useless as you can find. For $35, replace it with a Pioneer -111 Superdrive. You might be able to find a sucker on the LEM list willing to pay for it.

An original Airport card (802.11b) plus a card adapter are required for that model iMac. Card and adapter cost twice what the computer itself is worth.

See if you can exchange those DVD-Rs for DVD-RWs. You still won't be able to use them like big floppys but at least you can erase and re-use them.

DVD-R does not allow multiple session disks regardless of the software used. You cannot use a DVD-R "like a floppy".

Unfortunately, most of the D-Link, Linksys, Netgear and many others are not Mac compatible. Putting Mac Compatible on it DOES make it magic. BTW, our hosts here sell an ASUS unit for $35 or so that does do the job.

The system software has nothing to do with the firmware you installed. There is a utility that allows you change the firmware back to the factory supplied version at Apple's support page. But it's doubtful you'll see any difference with either firmware version.

And when the deal goes sour and the buyer claims he never got the package, PayPal gets to wash its hands of the whole thing because you shipped to an unconfirmed address. At this point though, you're screwed either way. If you fail to ship, you'll get negged and you will deserve it because that condition wasn't part of your auction. Ship and hope for the best.

Duh. They're called crazy checks down here in Bama and they're a way of life for some families, just like welfare and food stamps. There are families with eight kids and every one of them is getting an SSI check monthly. Folks discovered this "free money" when they started to shut off the welfare benefits in the 90's.

Individual disk images are different than trying to split a single install disk over several disks.
