Mahalo for all the nice wishes! My lovely wife and I took a walk along the beach and enjoyed our lunch at a pavilion along the path. On the way back we saw some friends and had a chat. It was a gorgeous Kauai day.

Other differences might be: color temperature, light dispersion characteristics, compatibility with different dimmers, how low they can be dimmed. Unfortunately none of these things can typically be tested in the store. My experiences are that bulb longevity is highly exaggerated.

Congrats on your retirement! I remember going to Mac conventions long ago in New York and San Francisco and registering as a "Retirement Evangelist" LOL We saved and invested early in life enabling me to take a deferred retirement at age 49, when we moved to Hawaii. Retirement is great!

We don't have family on Kauai and don't travel to the mainland when its cold. I did put up our fake tree and Laura really enjoyed decorating it. With her alzheimer's the decorated tree and packages beneath it are strong reminders and bring up lots of pleasant memories. Getting together with friends and exchanging small gifts at this time of year is a fun tradition but sending out cards and gifts

My wife and I were at a Stevie Wonder concert in Oakland, CA. Stevie came out and announced John's death and then sang "Happy Birthday to Ya", a very emotional performance to say the least. I'll never forget it.

I love my SX-50. My wife and I have traveled a lot in recent years. I can get quick grab shots, even when in a moving vehicle or ship, at full zoom. The image stabilization is very good. My wife carries a Lumix DMC-ZS25 which fits in a pocket. The Canon is a far better camera imo and will still fit in a jacket pocket (barely).
