We've done a number of things ourselves over the past 20 years (installing strip lighting, etc), but know enough to not do things beyond us.
We've been told by knowledgable people that these old buildings are all grounded in their construction, that all the boxes are grounded already.
We'll open the switch not and take a look at what's up. If it's not obvious, it will be time to ask the &q

>I rent a pre-war NYC apt (built in 1930).
This is unlikely to be easy.
>When I read instructions on line, it said the hot line has to be coming into the switch box itself for it to work.
LOL things were different when that building was wired.

You need to remove the fixture to know whats going on. I'd bet you'll find two wires. This means that even if you ad

. . . advice?
I rent a pre-war NYC apt (built in 1930). I can make some changes but not go crazy.
I need to change the side light fixtures (different story) on either side of the medicine cabinet, but now found out that having an outlet on the fixture itself is not code. There are no outlets in the bathroom, other than what's on the side light fixtures.
So, I want to change the light swi

I've never understood why people feel it's necessary for complete agreement amongst SO's or spouses... you're married or in a committed relationship, NOT clones of one another.
When coupled long enough (married or not) you become halves of a unit. That mind frame isn't available to everyone and doesn't always work even within a unit - when it does work it's irreplaceable.

EC, SSD and new battery - that machine will run fine.
If you do not do any major financial transactions on it, I would not even be worried about the lack of security updates.
I think it can run the latest Chrome, too.

Hello, experts!
My idea is to get a MacBook Pro 17" 2.4ghz core2 duo (2007-2008) in shape to send to a friend in Grenada. It's working and I'd rather it be used by people who need it. This is for her daughter to use for school work, email, youtube. They have one MacBook Air that is newer (by not much) which her mom uses for all the video work she is doing. Needless to say having access to

I am working with my dentist to get the type of mask I need. Dental supply places sell a lot of these items. They are hard to get but they will take orders if they can obtain product.
I also placed an order with Thomas Scientific for the type I'm using. Don't know when I'll get delivery, but good price. It's a case (600 pieces) and I'll give what I don't need to others anyway.

My debit card also functions as a credit card. Maybe there's some recourse.
You mean it bleeds off your checking account until it’s empty then converts to a credit card until the next deposit? Hadn’t heard of one of those.

Constant mask wearing is also causing much pain around the eyes. I have talked with a number of people who say the same thing and just saw my cranial osteopath to deal with it.

Jailbreaking is still tenuous, even though RIGHT NOW it's gotten easier.
There are many items in those articles I would love to use, but getting used to not having them if I have to lose the jailbreak, for whatever reason, is too much of a pain.
When I updated to iPhone 8, I had to drop the jailbreak at the time. It was not easy for a while to give myself over to the set way of using the ph

Is it an old dial turn oven? ;)
Ignore the fluctuations because it will fluctuate within a range to keep the oven near the desired temp. Just like an
A/C system.
Yep. What it is. Just had no idea the fluctuations would be that much. Never really thought about it until now.

I assume by what you said, I'll need to wait for the temp to stabilize especially for baking, before introducing the pan/tray.
Let the temperature stabilize, and use the info about the actual temperature to have an idea what the oven control maps to. For example, if the control is set to 350 and the actual temperature is higher you will know to bump it down a notch, or v

Kept me from poking the Tri-Tip
Are you just measuring the oven temp or the inside of said chicken? I don’t rely on the oven temp being precise, even though it’s digital. It just needs to cook the meat the right temp.
I’m trying to know that the oven temp is correct. The only time I use food probe is when I’m cooki

I did a similar test with my oven when I got a grill ambient temp sensor.
Do you require precise temps or can you just make adjustments?
IMO this sort of thing is more important when comparing the result of different ovens.
Nothing precise, per se.
I just realized, as I was getting WAY more info than I was used to, that I needed to recalibrate me. To understand what was

There are two aspects involved in preheating a standard oven. One is heating the air inside up to the temperature, and the second is getting the oven liner itself heated up to that temperature as well.
A standard probe thermometer like you purchased is really designed for internal temperature testing, it responds too quickly to the hot air in the oven. The rest of the oven was prob

Old apt in NYC with basic stove. nothing fancy.
I was getting very frustrated with my hanging analog oven thermometer. It would fall off the rack, needed a flashlight to possibly see the reading, couldn't be in the center of the oven if something big was in it.
I bought this.
I tested each probe with boiling water and it worked pretty well getting to 212 as long as I held it in the cent

Nice!
But trying to justify doing it now. Way back when, it was to unlock the phone. Can't think of what I REALLY need that the phone isn't doing by now. And I also try not to get to used to user interface perks. Hated getting used to not having them when the jailbreaks weren't so good for a while.
What do you use it for?

NYC here. I'd say 90% of people have masks on.
I don't mind the lines. They look worse because everyone is spread out, but they move quickly. Once you get in, the stores are not crowded, of course, and shopping is much easier.
It is a good thing this started up in the spring rather than the fall. Easier to wait in line in the nice weather, etc. At least figuring out how to deal with a lock

This is what I picked up the other day when I was at the store. I had no idea what to get and a lot of these probiotics are really pricey. I'm a cheapskate and this was cheap (cheaper in the store than Amazon).
But it sounds like since these are chewable that they are probably not too effective in getting past stomach acid. Possibly to the point of being useless?

Yogurt is NOT enough.
I learned my lesson with this the hard way after high mold exposure. I kept getting "sinus infections", which turned out to be mold infections. Plus, I was taking antibiotics on top of that due to misdiagnosis. It wasn't until I started with the correct dosage of probiotics did the whole situation go away.

Thanks for the probiotics advice, mspace. It sure would have been nice if one of the doctors had clued me in
