Why does this make some people squirm so much? I think there's a strong feeling by many people that it is the stand your ground "law" that Florida enacted that is the real issue; that it smacks of the kind of Jim Crow laws that were legally enacted by states, but clearly were "wrong" and encouraged bad behavior. Of course, there were many who supported Jim Crow laws.
